YF.. could be a better decision.. blessing in disguise.. of course speaking purely from a BMW fan perspective.. I was also curious on why the launch was delayed..

Merc Sales Girl informed that the E300 delayed launch as government has not approved the pricing yet. She also don't know the pricing as yet!

So everything is actually in place but due to sloppy management by our elected officials we do not get to see the E300 yet and they got only less than 12 months to sell this car before price goes up... =_=

Just to update you guys that are interested in the E300. According to my lovely sales girl, price for the unit will be released in 2 days time. Give and take a day or two. Current estimated price for the CBU units are RM348,888 while the CKD units will have a discounts of 10K to 15K.

Just as a side topic, was considering the C200 for my wife but was informed that expected delivery now goes into the 3rd quarter of 2015.

More exp than the A6H but I think this E300 has more spec and its a diesel to boot But even with discounts the E250 spec list will not be able to compete with the E300 what more the E200...

C200 CKD waiting list now stretches to 3rd quarter? Any upgrade to the kit list or estimated pricing for the CKD model?

Never asked about any details on the C200 as I got turn off in the long waiting list. No demo car to test in Cycle n Carriage next to federal highway. Call me old fashion but I prefer to test drive before buying.

RM 349k?

Excerp from Paultan.org http://paultan.org/2015/01/13/w212-mercedes-benz-e300-bluetec-hybrid-diesel-now-malaysia-ckd-locally-assembled-rm348888/

"Mercedes-Benz Malaysia has officially introduced the locally-assembled W212 Mercedes-Benz E300 BlueTEC Hybrid – the car, the first diesel hybrid to be commercially available in the country (and the company’s second CKD hybrid, after the S 400 L Hybrid), was actually previewed to the motoring press in December last year, but pricing had at that point not been finalised.

It has now – the RM348,888 price tag isn’t very far away from that initially suggested by an ad that popped up last August on our sister site oto.my. Upon first glance, the pricing may not jump out in a big way, but it is significant upon comparison.

Thanks to excise duty exemptions for CKD hybrids (in place until Dec 31 this year), the locally-assembled E 300 BlueTEC Hybrid is actually cheaper than the previous baseline E-Class facelift model, the RM367k E 200, undercutting the latter by RM18k. The hybrid’s introduction effectively makes it the most affordable E variant in Malaysia.

It may be the cheapest, but it’s very well specified – in fact, it has pretty much the same kit as the CKD E 400, which was introduced last November. The E 300 BlueTEC Hybrid gets the AMG Sports package (AMG bodykit, velour floor mat, twin exhaust system with bumper-integrated rectangular stainless steel pipe ends) as well as the same 18-inch twin five-spoke alloys seen on the latter.

The Malaysian car also comes equipped with LED headlights and Intelligent Headlight Control Plus. Other equipment from the E 400 includes the rear seat entertainment system – which features two display monitors integrated into the front seat headrests – and surround view camera. Like the E 400, the E 300 BlueTEC Hybrid is available with a number of interior colour schemes.

The E 300 BlueTEC Hybrid is powered by a 2.1 litre turbodiesel and electric motor combination – the OM651 DE 22 LA four-cylinder unit is good for 204 hp at 4,200 rpm and 500 Nm from 1,600 to 1,800 rpm, while the three-phase AC internal rotor magneto electric motor (which is installed in the clutch housing between the engine and the transmission to save space) offers 24 hp at 1,800 rpm and 250 Nm at an operating voltage of 120 volts."

With Insurance, I am guessing above 350k. I have no regrets with my F10 520d. When I buy a car, I use the following system in the following order:

First ... I must like the dashboard as that's what I am going to see every time I drive the car. (520d F10 LCi has the digital dashboard with 4 designs...yes 4 design)

Second ... I must like the exterior (520d to me looks more in proportion as an executive sedan compared to the E300)

Third ... The engine (520d is a PROVEN diesel engine as supported with all diesel users here whereas the E300 just re-started with the diesel after the problematic E270 CDI)

Fourth ... The handling (520d has always have the edge over the Mercs in driving dynamics)

Fifth ... the back seat space as I have to carry my kids and a domestic helper. (this the E300 is better)

4/5 made me choose the 520d plus I did not want to wait so long for the E300. I also had a good offer for my 520d and I doubt I am going to get a good offer on the E300. The other factor was when I was in Stuttgart, I saw the E300 Blue Tec which was running on six cylinders whereas here we are getting a 4 cylinder. Also, worried the price of changing the battery for the hybrid once its due!

Choose your car wisely my friends! In the meantime, no regrets on getting the 520d. Cheers!

Yours faithfully......

Haha... took the words right out of my mouth.

One more to ponder the new E Class W213 is around the corner..

Wonder - will the E300 hybrid's resale value be as good as normal gasoline turbocharged engine...

I tested the E300 Bluetec diesel hybrid a week ago at Hap Seng Star Jalan Ipoh. It's now available to test also at Naza Bangsar opposite Bangsar Village 1. The good first: It's a smart combo - diesel n electric hybrid, because at rest/idle, the car goes into electric mode and you don't hear any diesel clatter. But to be fair, it's also a VERY quiet clatter when the diesel engine does start up. You get lots of equipment. Videos in the head units for rear passengers. A skyroof. Frontal collision warning and frontal accident avoidance mechanism. Good powerful responsive torquey engine when you floor it in Sports mode.
Now the bad : Too light and lifeless no feedback steering. Front LEDS look menacing and appealing but the rear and sides look unclish to me. It's nearing the end of its life cycle, this E
Maybe another max 2 years to go before a brand new E arrives.
It's a good buy if you are a 'logical' person. Just not a good buy for a driver's car person. Of course, the wife would love it. So, buy it for her, for the family, for logic since it's a duty-exempt car and you save maybe 20 or 30k? But I wouldn't. Can't.As.much as I am a diesel fan, I have to say Sorry, not this diesel hybrid!

I agree with doc that the steering feels lifeless. This was felt when I tested the E250 last year.

The COMMAND control is nowhere user friendly as compared with the BMW I drive system. The screen is smaller too.

Will try to get a test drive when time permits and provide a test drive report. In the meantime, I am enjoying my 520d. Excellent drive and everything else! Have not looked back ever since.

Can I know, when the battery (or anything to do with the hybrid system) kaput, can I still drive it around like a normal diesel car? Or I absolutely must replace or repair it?

Alan....used car dealer ripping you off.

Visit www.oto.my and key in the details of your car. Even a 520d 2012 model such as yours is going for RM190K. Even if minus RM20K still much higher than your car dealer.

hi alan,

if you planning to let go at that price please let me know.
