335i coupe

I am quite tempted by the 335i coupe and was delighted to read that the DCT gearbox and new iDrive will be incorporated into the car for the model year 2009 which I believe starts in August this year? Anyway, I enquired with the BMW dealers and the response I pretty much got was that they won't be getting it this year. I find it a little hard to believe since this is a CBU model so whatever Germany is producing, we should get the same configuration here too. Am I right to presume that they are telling me this just to clear out whatever stocks they have of the 335i coupe with the Steptronic gearbox? If it is really only next year that they will start bringing in the revised 335i coupe, I would probably wait to check out the upcoming Audi S4 with the new supercharged 3 liter engine.

Cars of a model year usually appear here in about March of that year. They may appear in Europe and US before the end of the previous year, but as early as August is very unlikely as they wouldn't even have been launched at the major shows yet, including Paris, the big one.

Oooo the S4! Audis are always very enticing...but...the depreciation the minute you drive out of the showroom can cause immediate cardiac arrest

I'm not surprised the official response. Shipment of the E92 to Malaysia has been sparsed, that's why we see so few on our roads and a long waiting list of 4-6 months if you order now. The dealers also know they can't push this with meaningful volume, which applies to BMW Malaysia also. I doubt going to Audi's authorised dealers here would be better. Besides, the S4 is a sedan right? Have you considered the S5 coupe variant. Now, that would be a stonking proposition on Malaysian roads!

The S5 is a good alternative but I think the way to go for now and the future for high performance are turbo or supercharged six cylinders. Great accessible torque for city driving and surprisingly frugal on fuel too. Can't beat that! Plus the price premium of the S5 over the 335i for practically the same performance is too big to ignore. I like the look of the the new A4 even if it is a sedan. The front end makes up for having the two extra doors. Not too fond of the 3 series sedan design though. Euromobiles' lead time for their cars is 3 months only, so I was quite surprised to hear the up to 6 months lead time for BMW.

The 6-month waiting period I referred to is for the E92 i.e. 3-series Coupe which is the only 335i available for Malaysia. The E92 is CBU direct from Germany but I understand these are mostly allocated for UK and Japan markets. Hence, the long waiting period.

Out of curiosity how much are they in Malaysia for a Grey Import (I already know the AB price so just want to compare)

I've just got my 335i today and it's gearbox is iDrive. Waiting period is only 3 months. Go to Sapura Auto KL.

I don't think it is the DCT version because it is only started production in Aug 2008, if I'm not mistaken. A friend of mine is very interested to get the steptronic 335i coupe. Still available?

The one with DCT gearbox will only arrive by Jan 09 and that is the end 08 production date. If you want the 2009 production date then have to wait for March 2009. Both the Jan 2009 and March 2009 shipping will come with
- DCT gearbox.
- 19" sport rims.
- M sport package.
Not sure of the price but expected some increase.

I dono meinauto but i sure hell cant wait 2 get d car in 2009 .... if u upgrade the bodykit urself the price u pay 4 bodykit of ur choice wuld be more puas hati than paying highly 4 the simple m-sport and 19" rims just bcoz it's BMW's. Go 4 breyton hamman or watever. Believe me DCT gearboz is great but the other things that comes with the 2009 shipment with high increase in price isnt worth it.

Just go 4 d current ones. Its realy worth it!!

that is right, 335 is a 3.0l twin turbo so to distinguish it from the normal 3.0l it was given the 35 moniker
