...an excellent thread with outstanding write ups from a very keen Malaysian UDM fan, planted Stateside...!

...the world of motoring is exceptionally marketed in the US, so many various models for a very segregated & demanding market population...

...for a view of the laid back 320, try to home in on college campus BMW dealers where 'varsity ride & drives' are literally a blast of party...

:)

Thanks for the kind words :)

Sorry, I am not 100% sure what you mean by college campus BMW dealers and varsity ride and drives?

...auto dealers usually hit the college/university campuses at the bgining or at the end/graduating semester offering their products & services...

...Porsche, Merceds Benz & BMW, among dealers of other continental makes, have proven this marketing strategy, especially to introduce the lower to mid range models for the new customers/owners market, to be very fruitful...especially at the larger campuses or the private colleges/universities...

;)

I've honestly never heard that...most private colleges/universities are chockful of nice cars as it is I can't see why or how they can derive conquest sales. I went to private, U of Miami and all the big marques were liberally represented.

We had some automakers sponsor events like concerts (like mazda, honda and scion etc but never a hard sales drive to us.

Neither have I, even in the Ivys. The Ivys are residential and cars are not allowed on campus. You could ostensibly have a car in Columbia but nobody wants (or needs) to own a car in NYC. Anyway, there is no E90 320 in the US market as far as I know.

I've been to Columbia campus...is there even a students parking lot there? :p

The only thing I can remember that remotely close to what khisham was saying was when the now defunct Daewoo brand was first introduced in the US (end 90s), they had this student ambassadors program where students can be appointed sales reps for Daewoo for opportunities to make some money while going to school. Basically, loosely appointed reps for Daewoo, selling to fellow students and making some side income. Well as you know the Daewoo brand didn't last very long, 2 years max, I think :D

Daewho? :) In my visits to several Ivys, we had to leave our cars like a mile away and walk or shuttle bus in. The only vehicles I saw were bicycles. They sure don't like cars in there!

Just curious, is near snow-time in the DC area yet? How do you intend to handle winter vis a vis the RFTs?

DC winters are rather mild. True we get some episodes of heavy snow but being in a city full of federal offices has its perks. Snow days are issued at the very whiff of impending moderate snow :p

In my few years here I have had no problem getting around with all-season tires. But those are FWD cars though. As I have shared before, the EL42 RFTs get rather greasy in wet weather. As it is now, the back end steps out quite easily on wet surfaces strewn with wet leaves. Of course that is with a degree of intent. Either way good thing for the DSC/DTC
