I did mine in Carekool, Puchong. Good wokmanship and service. I even removed the original llumnar (done by Quill) as the workmanship is lousy and not the standard I want.
I did the anti-theft protection on the side windows and then the tint on top of it. Front and back, tint as well. Tag no issue and heat no more. Original window without treatment is really hot so not sure about BMW's claim that they treated it ...blah x3. Overall satisfied, damage....RM2k.

Just to share........mine 3M.......about 3 weeks already no issues so far. Works with smart tag.

After reading so much concern about a possible damage to the doors, decided today to tint the front only. After all the glasses have been "treated"to reduce radiation and uv by BMW and got shades some more at the back.Bad experience few years back.the vkool installer broke my speaker cover and conveniently taped it back without informing me.Discovered it when the cover felt off.Why take chances.Surely they say no problem, they can handled eventhough they have never done it before.Your car will become the guinea pig.Same thing with rft, they never refuse the job to take off your tires even when they dont have the equipment.if you let them touch your rfts surely disaster.Don't believe for a minute when they say no problems, they have done it before.be warned.telling from personal experience.

Thanks for the advice.. really helpful..!! :top:

Thats why I started this thread, to know where is a good tint shop based on the lads experiences...??

Ashman, do you know any good tires shop..? beautifully installed without any dent..? Lim Tayar ke..?

Anybody care to share their experiences..? :driver:

I just tinted my car with 3M and to get smart tag to work, they left out an area near the rear view mirror where you find a series of connected dots untinted. Normally that area is not tinted and the opening is good enough for you to angle the smart tag to get it working.

I got my 3M tint from one of the authorized dealers in TTDI. As for my tires and wheels, I got them from Hup Shun in Sunway. They have pretty done quite a number of F10s and wheel selection is good. Lim Tayar's also very good in terms of pricing but they didn't have the wheels I wanted so I went to Hup Shun. If you do go to Lim Tayar, ask for Marcus, he's mighty helpful and I'm sure he can give you a super deal.

I did many of my 8 cars prior to the current E90 at Ecotint HQ in USJ. They seemed to have a lot of experience in many cars and I have not had any complaints.

I regret trying out V-Krap.

Got it together with the car at Ingress. The side and back tinting are darker the front one is lighter. Am assuming thats why I dont have a problem with smart tag. But now Im wondering.........how would I know if they put a coating on the front windscreen!! Anyway to check?

I think V-Cool's a good tint, but just overpriced and the distributor's way overzealous with its marketing efforts.

Did you tint the side windows as well..? Did they remove the door panel when installing it..? How would you rate their workmanship..? I live close enough to TTDI, I could probably consider them if they did a great job..

Thanks..!

Hey RH5,

Yes, they removed the door panels and all, but I'd say they were pretty professional with their job. I was there during the installation and I noticed how careful they were with the car, using tape on the sides throughout so that it didn't get the sides wet. There's only an authorized 3M shop in TTDI (near Proton showroom) and do ask for a gentleman called Michael. Tell him that you were referred by the owner of the 2 BMW F10s that were installed today, he will give you a good price.

I've tried RAIN-X on the windscreens. It does help during heavy rain as the rain drops will just slide off the screens like water beads. You get better visibility. There is also less watermarks as there are less water drops "sticking" on the screen. However the process of applying is on the tough side. First you have to make sure the screens are wash properly and dried with clean towel. Then you put some liquid onto dry towel (i used a microfiber cloth sponge) and apply with a circular motion. Then you have to use tissues to wipe the excess off which is quite messy cause you've got to make sure it is completely wipe off or else it will have a layer effect like it's dirty. The whole process is quite tiring but good exercise till your underwear also wet. The effect is good but with such tiring procedures, i think most of us will put it aside after a few use.

The 3M shop I mentioned is in Taman Tun Dr Ismail. It's at the same row of shops where the Proton showroom is. The 3M signage is pretty prominent, don't think you can miss it.

Pls let us know when u have done the tinting... we want to know about the quality of their work/ service..

I hv called Michael, he recommends 2 layers for the window. A US brand for anti-smash and 3M tint layer. And color is "charcoal", I believe is dark grey. But my car body is Havanna, light brown, not sure it's matching?? U have installed it? How is it?

guys, better install 2 layers (tint and anti-smash) if your wife or gf will drive it. Few of my friends (all F10 but mixture of 523i and 520d), got window smashed and bags/things taken. All when their wife/gf is driving. U know la, they will put their bags on the passenger seat.
