Many, many thanks to the committee for organising the recent TD. I think the recent brickbats from some members have obscured the contribution of the silent heroes working tirelessly behind the scenes to organize such beneficial events, and I would like to take this chance to thank the organizing committee properly. YOU GUYS DID A FANTASTIC JOB... THANKS!!! :yahoo: :yes!: :D I learnt many invaluable lessons from the event, and would like to start a thread where we can all share what we learnt.... In a way, this is a tribute to the good work done by our club....Here goes....Lessons Learnt From Track Day.1. PowerI have enough power... no need to increase bhp for now. In fact, the fastest I got up to was 150-160 km/h on the final straight. 2. HandlingI need better handling. ARB, struts bar, better brakes, better tyres... you can never have TOO much handling.... now where's my wallet?3. Auto vs ManualI will never again complain about the manual gear being tedious in traffic jams.... I have a newfound respect for manual gears now...4. Racing lineEvery corner is different, and should be approached individually.. my thanks to sifumaster Kev....5. HelmetIs not just for showing off, as I found out literally within 1 minute...6. GlovesUnless you genetically do not have any sweat glands, you need gloves just to be able to hold the steering wheel properly...7. Tyre pressureI pumped my front slightly higher than back to reduce the classis e36 understeer...8. FluidsMake sure all the fluids in both the car and the driver are maintained at optimum levels....9. Petrol tankKeep it half to 3 quarters full for best effect... full tank feels a bit sluggish...10. CostsRM150 to use the track is just a tiny fraction of the story... I invested in a full workshop inspection and replaced any part which wasn't tip top, esp suspension, pulleys, brakes, etc, and nothing went wrong in my first TD, even after 25 hard laps....11. PhotosIf you want some photos of the event, bring a friend as a photographer.. u'll be too busy having fun to remember to take photos....That's all I can think of for now...Come on guys, let's share your track day experience, thoughts, feedback, etc...

Lee, your car is now hard to beat... now if I can find a sponsor to prep up my car for the next track day (assuming I can the next one).

What did i learn?

Rosa23 with his sport suspension equiped E46 328i is one heck of a driver.
Did anybody else catch him in action ? i can only hope that when i am his age i will still be game to head out on track days and can the heck out of my car!

The Integra's are pretty darn quick, one guy with a 260bhp version was doing 2:35s. For referance a modded Elise with 160bhp does the same kind of times. Stock ones, with a good driver, are good for 2:49's.

Regards.

What I learnt on this track day:

1. Quite a number of our members are really interested in advanced driving.....good for you guys!

2. Some of the newbies take to the track like fish to water! You guys learn real fast!

3. Sometimes, spectating isn't enough.......as some members succumbed to the call of the track! ....ekekekeke

4. The ladies that were present are into 'taxi' rides! Impressive!

5. Now that I know that my car handles.......the quest for power begins..Muahahahahahahaaha!

6. Lee36328 is now looking for an e30!.....another one bites the e30 bullet!

What I learnt of TD

some more i just thought of...

1. I DO NOT know how to drive... I thot I did, but that was just using the car to get from one point to another... driving properly is another thing altogether...

2. I am now intimately aquainted w my car.. (see my comments on the official Track day thread..esp u, Flash). I have taken my relationship w her to a higher plane....after that, had to have a post-coitul cigarette...

3. TD does not satisfy my need for speed... ask Kev... sorry sifu, the KLIA highway is my usual playground, so cud not resist taking my car up to speed.... did u see me go past?

4. My car breathes better now... as Kev said, all the carbon is gone, and the car revs better

5. I need another job to pay for me new addiction....

Yes Lee,

I saw you blasting down the KLIA highway like a bat out of hell!

Glad you appreciate the 'post-coital' cigarette! (Sampoerna no-less....heheheh)

It was an eye opener for me. From now on I will hold the believe that you have never really 'own' a UDM until you have taken one to the track. Much thanks to the committee for organising this event for the benefits of club members.

What I learnt from the recently ended trackday is..Bring 2 cars..
when 1 conk can use the other so dont waste the RM150.
Now my big question is who is kind enough to give me another car..:D

Yes.... Sampoerna was just right for the occassion....

Another thing I learnt... foaming works... my car felt stiff and hard.... the better for me to enjoy the occassion...

YOU GUYS DID A FANTASTIC JOB... THANKS!!!  :yahoo:  :yes!:  :D

I learnt many invaluable lessons from the event, and would like to start a thread where we can all share what we learnt....  In a way, this is a tribute to the good work done by our club....

Here goes....

Lessons Learnt From Track Day.

1. Power

I have enough power...  no need to increase bhp for now.  In fact, the fastest I got up to was 150-160 km/h on the final straight.

2. Handling

I need better handling.  ARB, struts bar, better brakes, better tyres... you can never have TOO much handling.... now where's my wallet?

3. Auto vs Manual

I will never again complain about the manual gear being tedious in traffic jams.... I have a newfound respect for manual gears now...

4. Racing line

Every corner is different, and should be approached individually.. my thanks to sifumaster Kev....

5. Helmet

Is not just for showing off, as I found out literally within 1 minute...

6. Gloves

Unless you genetically do not have any sweat glands, you need gloves just to be able to hold the steering wheel properly...

7. Tyre pressure

I pumped my front slightly higher than back to reduce the classis e36 understeer...

8. Fluids

Make sure all the fluids in both the car and the driver are maintained at optimum levels....

9. Petrol tank

Keep it half to 3 quarters full for best effect... full tank feels a bit sluggish...

10. Costs

RM150 to use the track is just a tiny fraction of the story... I invested in a full workshop inspection and replaced any part which wasn't tip top, esp suspension, pulleys, brakes, etc, and nothing went wrong in my first TD, even after 25 hard laps....

11. Photos

If you want some photos of the event, bring a friend as a photographer.. u'll be too busy having fun to remember to take photos....

That's all I can think of for now...

Come on guys, let's share your track day experience, thoughts, feedback, etc...

whoa! Awesome.... awesome....

Looks like another beautiful monster rising from its slumber... can't wait to see it...

Sorry about blank sms... will have to reprogram the phone... dunno why it likes u so much...

I know lah u got manual e30, new monster engine, lsd, and most of all, the skill to tame the beast! Got a lot to learn from u, but u never show up at Sepang, how?

So karting this weekend, eh? Let me think abt it... am thinking of revisiting Sepang also this Sat...

So, another thing I learnt from TD :

1. Don't get hooked on TD! U'll spend the whole week thinking about the next TD....

2. I need another car.... manual... lsd..... rear wheel drive.... going shopping now....

what i learn

1) michellin are good tires. Lasted me for 13 lapse.
2) it's not how fast you drive but how you handle
3) I need to understand more about weight management of my car
4) 15" with 205/55/15 is a good balance for e30 but expensive. the 205/50/15 would be a better bet to get good tires and cheaper too.
5) Yes, i need the LSD (Fab prove that to me)
6) My brakes setup is Good
7) My anti-roll setup is Good
8) My suspension setup is Good
9) I need short-shift

Overall, TD is addictive. I want to learn how to drive smoother and smoother.

what I learnt from TD

towing charges is RM220 from sepang to kl.
slightly higher if tow into kl

btw,
lee36328, what engine are you using?
150~160 on the straights sounds....sounds...like you are not pushing hard enough :)

bggysv,

i m using a 328 engine...

yes u r right, i was not pushing all out, not sure if my normal brakes can take it, so...

What I Learnt From TD :
1. I need better brakes...

Let the racun begin!!!

Cross-drilled and grooved ventilated discs
Brembo 4-pot calipers
Steel braided brake hoses
.....
