The bad habit nowadays i noticed are most of the ppl don't like to use their signal light when they want to turn, especially inside housing area (Taman).

....not a driving habit but I really hate those brakes that blink especially at night, feel like flashing my lights everytime it blinks. Another one is those nuts who have white lights as signal lights...As for hazard lights I personally saw an accident that happened bcos of the confusion, to me a hazard light is to be used when a car is stationery, when u have two rules to it then this is what will happen, this happened just before the duta toll, the car on my right slammed into a stationery car that had its hazard lights on because of mechanical problems, it was raining quite heavily. I suppose what happen was the driver as usual was thinking that this car was moving and not stationery as its usual in MY to switch on hazard lights and still be on the move but found out too late that it was stationery.

Unfortunately those who use white or blue (Ah Beng) signal lights don't care that you can hardly see in in the day..not that they use it anyway...

As for those flashing red lights..they all think they F1 driver mah..

Another peeve is those cars on high beam on the opposite lane on the highway, can get darned bright & painful..

Cheers :)

If the road you mention that i think which one is, that one not yet officially open for public. Vehicle travelling on wrong lane is common sight, day or night. If it not the road i think the one you mention, sorry, my mistake.

Bro, it's the flyover after the Cyberjaya exit on ELITE, heading towards Nusa Puchong something. Cars have started using the flyover already.

You mean those who purposely wire their brake lights to blink, or the ones which blinks as per those on the Honda Civic FD2?

Ahh, i thought the other one just after PLUS exit.

It seem there's a new trend among car owner with additional blinking red light that they add below bumper, could it be that also? It very annoying for me for some reason.

Funny you should mention it. Just this evening after work, I was waiting to turn into my housing area, this lady driving Wira coming from opposite. So I waited & waited, mana tahu she also wanted to turn into the housing area. If only she had the decency to indicate, then at least I could time my turn into the same road without wasting time... :stupid:

Then once I was behind her, again, first junction she suddenly braked and turned left... Wah, I was livid la, kept honking her as I continued past her along the main road...

Totally understand your predicament and I've encoutered it so many times. They are behaving as if it will cost them lots of money to use the indicator....

Exactly! It's like they can't even move their limbs to use the indicator stalks... :stupid:

I always make it a habit to indicate even when there are no cars in sight, especially on highways or housing areas. Hahaha. Too used to doing that already. Even when the nearest car behind me is like some distance away, I'd still indicate when I am about to change lanes.

Like many here, I get very annoyed when drivers change lanes or turn without signalling. It's not only inconsiderate, it's dangerous. Having said that, I suspect at least part of the reason these drivers refuse to use the signal lights is because they have learnt from some negative experiences of what happens when they do so:

1) Driver A signals and waits a few seconds to make sure driver B (some distance back) on the target lane sees the signal.
2) Driver B sees the signal and is overcome with "kiasu-ness" and speeds up to prevent driver A changing lanes.

This is not a defence of the people who can't be bothered to signal. It partly explains their actions, but in no way excuses it.

Well, you're right. What they had gone thru doesn't necessarily absolve them from the responsibility of signalling their intentions. After all, don't do onto others what you want others to treat you.

There will always be a driver patient and kind enough to let you in, just as long as you are polite and don't force yourself in without signalling. :)

Another unique driving habit: creative queue jumper. Happen on the kesas ramp, turning into summit, if you're coming from KL. I've personally experienced like 4 lanes of cars on a marked 2 lane road.

I am experiencing it every working days. If I don't let them in, we will crash! letting them in seems encouraging this activity. I noticed that the authority are extending the double white line from the chevron (ghost isalnd) to longer extend. Enforcement by police coming soon to all the queue cutter.

Let me share common sights in Penang:-

1. Driver that can't keep to their own lane and having one side of the car to either partially occupy the right or left lane.

2. Try driving on the Penang Bridge during rush hour. Lots of slow drivers like to hog on the right (fast lane) and end up, the fast moving ones need to overtake on the far left lane. They couldn't give a damn whether you high beam or honk. I was once shown a middle finger by an uncle..:thefinger:

Stuck in traffic for almost an hour this morning. Two observations:

1) any large vehicle where the engine is underneath the driver (bus/petrol tanker, etc) will insist on stopping less than a foot away from your rear bumper. Doesn't matter whether the road slopes downhill and all it would take is the slightest lessening of pressure on the brakes to roll forward and hit you, it's apparently mandatory practice to do so. I had the pleasure of having a BHP tanker driver practice his skill with me this morning.

2) when the traffic light turns red, drivers who have been waiting in queue for a long time will ignore the red light and continue driving forward. Drivers on other lanes with green lights have to either inch forward to send a message that their lane is green or continue sitting still even at a green light.

Queue cutting happens all the time, especially during peak hours when the cops actually encourage vehicles to use the hard shoulders. Case in point, the never-end congestion everyday from the Federal Highway, especially from Batu Tiga till the LDP bridge... Cars actually keep cutting on the left, using the hard shoulders to gain just a few cars' advantage, before being forced to rejoin the left lane again...

And of course, who can forget the NPE exit to PJ/OKR, when officials already place cones covering about 1.5 lanes of the 3 lane highway Bangsar-bound? Cars actually have to jam their brakes when cars suddenly swerve from the left to the right-most lane just to avoid those queue jumpers heading towards OKR...

the civic is ok because it blinks in the beginning stage only and then becomes stationery...

Something I noticed over the weekend, very apparent lately.

Noticed that more and more drivers, especially local makes and Jap cars are being more gung-ho and recklessly fast even when the roads are wet and driving conditions are appalling, such as heavy rain with little visibility or wet roads.

Case in point, just last Saturday afternoon, I left Subang for my trip up north to Ipoh, noticed a really fast Proton Persona pulling away from the 'famous' Subang Big U-Turn towards Federal Highway, KL Bound. I then told my gf, what the hell in the world is this fella trying to do. Roads are wet + slight drizzle, in no way will I drive that fast in the rain. So, once I reached the tip of the slope whereby I needed to slow down to join the road prior to the fork between Glenmarie or Fed Highway, I could roughly see the same Persona already blasting past the valley and making his way towards the Fed Highway at full pelt.

So, happily drove on, in the middle lane of that 3 lane road [left to Glenmarie, remaining 2 towards Fed], then as I made my way just across the tight corner under the flyover from Glenmarie towards Toyota/Wisma Tractors, lo and behold, what did I see?

The exact same Persona, already in the ditch before the sorta mini jungle island thingy. The car was on the metal divider, sideways, and front left wheel already dislodged from the car. Driver was still inside the car when I drove past. Saw a white delivery lorry on the right lane a few metres after the Persona, stopped on the fast lane, but I couldn't fathom any damage to the lorry when I drove past. Not too sure what really occurred there with the lorry and the Persona, but my guess would probably be the car trying to go past the bend really quickly. & judging from the way his car landed in that position, I suppose the car lost control at that particular sharp corner under the flyover...

Simply dreadful.

And later that night, as I was making my way north towards Kuala Kangsar from Ipoh via the highway, it started to rain heavily halfway before the Menora tunnel, and since it was my first time driving on that stretch in the rain + darkness, I took it slowly. Call me slow and a slouch but no way am I going to play with lady luck especially in the rain, even if my car has a new set of tyres.

After all, better be safe than sorry. :)

Dude, definitely not! Haha. I did tell a few people that I can be a real nuisance when it's dry and roads conditions are ideal... Can easily take my ride out to high speeds, just like
