Yes, John_Smith, I had many close encounter like your item 2. My habit in using roundabout is to get in, get out fast. So its very crucial in getting my lane right and frequent enough, those inner lane buggers want to turn out while the outer lane wish to continue taking the rounabout as what u mentioned. Tailing these vehicle at reasonably high speed while turning doesn't allow much room in correction should one of them suddenly jam brake.. *&^%$#@!!

Another thing about roundabout is those entering using left lane, but not turning left and block up the left lane traffic for those who wish to turn left. Sometime I had to use right lane to enter roundabout and cut left in front of these buggers! *&^%$#@!!

It's always a challenge at roundabouts like Rothmans' roundabout and also the Cheras roundabout in front of Makro.
I have lots of near misses, because these buggers criss-crossing at their own whim and fancies! @#$!@!!!

In Kuching, drivers drive roundabout like F1. Enter using the left lane, apex the roundabout by crossing all three lanes to the inner lane and exit by crossing all three lanes again.

Have even been beeped by a driver when I was driving on the roundabout's center lane and the driver wanted to exit the roundabout and I did not give him way to cut into the center and third lane to exit.

Also let's not forget drivers who overtake in front of you and suddenly brake to enter a junction and on top of that with no signal to warn the driver behind. I've had a number of close calls.

Salut

Wrong lane b*ggers. Imagine this scenario:

1. Driver on the right lane most lane, supposedly turn right at traffic light. But instead of doing so, the driver went straight ahead.

USJ Summit traffic lights junction quite notorious for this...

Spot on with the roundabout observations. The one in Subang, linking Summit and those coming from Pyramid/Metropolitan Uni is damn notorious as well. Had many occasions where cars would inch to the left most lane to cut queue and go 3 o clock. But the worst are those who are so hesitant to attack the roundabout.

Like Astroboy said, find the right lane, just masuk, follow flow, then keluar. What's so difficult about that? Even the one near Jalan 222/Assunta is sheer madness lar. It's as though drivers dunno how to use roundabouts properly... :stupid:

I dont think the driving school nowadays teach driving etiquette to enter and exit the roundabout and heck, they dont even know what zebra crossing is... To them, no zebra only humans crossing..so drive drive.. Let the pedestrian wait la...

Drivers that lets their kids jump around the back seat instead of strapping them up securely.

Drivers that lets their kids sit on their laps while driving. Driver strapped securely, kid is not.

Drivers that smoke in the car with kids inside.

Met this type of MOFO on the road with a green Wajalution. Provoked and tail gated me to asking me to move aside while he terrorised the road leading to Penchala Link from LDP. When he passed by, to my horror, saw the MOFO with his kid (maybe 1-2 yr old) standing on his seat and holding the steering. I overtook him and I honk and he got chissed and challenged me to a duel.. What a dufus..

These dufus will never learn. Once an accident happens it too late too regret.

This is usually one of the stretches where I almost always try to avoid, no thanks to the perennial congestion there.

Anyways, you're quite right actually.

Another major peeve lately is coming across drivers who would suddenly cut into the right lane when I am approaching fast, often without indicating, and staying there when the left lane is clear. I understand that they want to overtake, but seriously, when I see a really fast car on my right, hell no I'd suddenly swerve to the right and risk earning the wrath of that driver... :stupid:

And just yesterday, I was driving 'spiritedly' along the NPE, when I came across TWO lane hoggers on the fast lane; one after another. Best thing was, the two lanes on the left was EMPTY.

Flashed them 3 times each but they didn't want to budge as I was travelling at quite a fast speed then... Ended up I had to overtake on the left and honking them... Geez...

Hah..was following up this thread and finally I also kena ..

Was driving on middle lane coming to a traffic light, it rained and roads were slippery, suddenly this myvi entered my lane and braked hard while the light was still green. WTF and I had to jam my brakes n honked ! lucky me i was driving udm and the abs worked well. A little more to kiss that myvi a$$ . Pissed off and drove to the left lane beside the myvi to see whats wrong with the driver, red light came on. It was a middle aged auntie and showed me the face , like teens challenging for fight. Lagi panas I drove a little front and took her plate no down with my mobile, i mean what can I do. She also did try to snap my photo using her mobile when she see me doing this. She didnt even turn her signal on while switching lanes like that. I just sped off when the lights turned green. Can report polis ka like this ? Blardy no manners btch. I think she didn't even know what's her fault, lesen kopi.

I always try to drive very politely each time I come back to malaysia from Europe, culture shock on how patient and polite the drivers there, but every time I failed here coz got pissed off with the drivers here. Cutting ques every corner and masuk your lane tibatiba without signalling and all sorts of nonsense.

Oh, there's another unique driving habit....

Turning on hazard lights while driving during heavy rain.

the single handed driving one is because this think they are PETER BROCK.......a legendary racing driver from Downunder who raced his cars like this!

the no signal one, yes, heard the blocking bit and such utter nonsense......very soon we will have an option on Proton to cancel out the blinkers......discount RM2000! Dun laugh, there will be takers!!!!

Turning on hazard lights while driving during heavy rain.

This is an age long debated topic and I'm against our local ruling.

Even in US, different states has different rulings on this and I find the one used in Virginia makes more sense. They allow you to drive with your hazard lights on when slowed at the scene of a traffic hazard to below 30 MPH (48kph) or when traveling as part of a funeral procession. If you can see well enough through a Florida thunderstorm to drive faster than 30 MPH, you don’t need to be flashing your hazard lights.

For the European cars, no issue because I'll be using the rear fog light instead.

I have been driven in poor visibility condition that don't allow me to go faster than 30kph [not 30mph] on the highway. Another moron may be flying at 110kph and to that vehicle, I become a hazard and so I resort to using hazard lights even the car is not stationary. But these are rare occasionals la, no more than 10 times is my 2 decades of driving career.

1) On a perfectly straight two lane road, the driver on the left refuses to stay in the centre of his/her lane and insists on driving with the right wheels touching the white lines dividing the lanes. If you're passing alongside, you just have to hope the other driver doesn't swerve/drift across the few inches of space into you.

2) On a curved road, not bothering to stay in the lane when taking the curve but instead drifting into the inside lane (and maybe you too if you don't back off).

3) Red lights? What red lights?

4) Heavy rain - not turning headlamps on.

Number 2.. That's the racing line.. I do that when taking the corner at 200kph, otw, I'll be in the longkang.. :4:

Number 2) from the above is really careless of drivers these days, sadly so common. 90% of the time these jackasses dont even realise, thats even more frustrating.

Also another common thing i notice on the road is, the moment a driver indicates to switch lanes, he/she most of the time doesn't bother to take a look into rear view mirror or side mirror whether there is a car/bike/lorry/bus in the other lane..give indicator, straight change lane..very very common amongst youngsters n women. Must tonggeng these fellas..
