Hi I'm new to this forum. I drive the 2003 e39 520i and recently acquired the 2006 e60 525. I have to agree that the e39 is a more enjoyable and fun ride than the e60. E60 is fast but a rather boring ride with no drama. On the hiway when going above 160 i find the e60 rather light in handling and thats not good and tiring.

Welcome to BMWCM Forum. Pls do some intro at Newbies Section & if possible registered as official member.

You are not the 1st person I've encounter saying this. Sumore yr E39 is only 520 wt heavier body than E60. Try stroke the engine to 2.5 or 3.0, then you'll feel the true Ultimate Driving Machine.:top:

Stroking 2.2 to 2.5 means boring the block down. Else what he can do is, do upgrades on the electronics.

E39 is the right car to own... Its priced in range of RM80K to RM150K depend on age and condition.

Get it a properly checked so to avoid heavy initial maintainance cost

Prepare RM1500 per month for 6 months to maintain the car and after that there just unlimited racun for MODs..

If you have the $$$ then get the newer model but if you dont then get the 528 to enjoy the power of the fuel you pay.. as it cost the same to run per km 520 and 528... I have compared E60 520 vs E39 528 from KLIA to Cameron and to KL both consume the same amount of petrol..

Good luck bro..

waa...

soo much of that Racuns..
only that its looks bulky for under 5' guys.. haha.. but that cant stop me from laying my eyes on 39.. hope i will be able to grab one soon !

Must be carefully check and inspect the car before you purchase. If possible, spend RM150 – 250 to employ a good mechanic to inspect the car before you buy. The mechanic would able to tell you the estimated cost to repair the car in next six month.

I had spent approximately RM12K for service my E39 523i’s engine, gear box and strengthen its chassis immediate after I bought this car. Now its feel is like driving a new car.

Dear All.. This thread have been very very crucial for my decision on getting a car.. I think I am more or less confirmed on the E39. I am quite new here and have got some questions that may or may not be relevant here.. But I hope someone could assist. I want to know if its possible to add on the GPS screen thing in an E39 that does not come with it. I realized most Japan spec models have it.

I tried to use the BMW CD and DVD on my Japan Spec E39. Both also didn't work. Apparently they are using different system. Alternatively, you can use Garmin system using your existing screen. This option will cost you around 5K including installation. That was about 2 years ago. I believe the price now should be cheaper. As for myself, I am quite happy with my portable Garmin 200 series. Very handy, almost eye level on my windscreen and very easy to get updates.

Or another alternative is, get a Nokia 5800 pre-installed w Garmin...and there you have it. All in 1 small hand held device. Super multipurpose! :top:
