E39 vs E46

hi fred, kindly introduce urself at newbie subforum. yes, we get many queries here on whether apples or oranges are better. for me, it is very situational. having both 3 and 5 series, i have to say each have their fine moments that make back to back comparison unfair. many of their respective virtues are subjective and emotionally driven, not to mention one's state of physical condition at the time of comparison, i.e. early sunday mornings vs 7pm friday crawl on tun razak in the rain after a long day at the office. therefore, although the choice between e46 and e39 can be argued on financial and practical terms, we cannot underestimate personal considerations of what is more important to him/her at the end of the day.

I drive both e39 and e46 and I have to agree with what Bakuda mentioned....btw, The 39 is a very quiet car! but a 3 is a 3 and a 5 is a 5!!!

Whenever there is a discussion about E39 , we see the thread like 'goreng pisang panas'.. tat speak for itself..E39 rock.

As for the query on cost maintanance .. altho its vise to ask , but quite subjective and it depends on luck,effort to check the car b4 buying , how u drive the car and last but no least..... how much you LOVE IT .

When you are in love , u wouldnt wana ask the price rite...!
