View attachment 26874Hi Guys & Gals,My 328 is less than 2 weeks old and I have driven it for less than 500kms.This morning, I was in for a nasty surprise as my driver side RFT "kembung", or some would say "pregnant" - tai tou!!.Contacted my SA and advised to drive in to SC. (the one located along LDP)Service Advisor took some pictures and the advice is that, I changed first, with them, which means that I pay RM2200 now and they will send to goodyear for evaluation and then (fingers crossed) I might get a refund OR (god forbid) goodyear computer "thinks" its my fault in which case 1.) I dont get refunded and 2.) I am paying premium for RFT i.e normally 1300 to 1600 outside.Anyone has any ideas as to the best way I should go about ???

ouch!! looks like a nasty bump after going into a pothole but have seen it happen on new tyres as well. alternatively have you tried BMW Malaysia or contacting goodyear malaysia directly?

This is not the first time, someone got this problem few months ago. u may check it from the BMW Malaysia fb page.

they wont fix it for you. i think you may have hit a pot hole or curb something.

it is not under warranty for tyre wear. though, you can argue otherwise.

do update what happens next.

SA suggested that I leave my car at their work shop( 7-10days). That way they will send my tire to GoodYear for evaluation and I dont have to replace tire yet.
I am not too keen to leave my car for so long and I have got a feeling GY wot be so generous.

ACS325I : BMW Malaysia proposed the same as above.
Momoco : Yes! I have seen and follow their FB page.
jennypenny : You are absolutely right, they wont fix it for me. They will "cerita" that the computer report will tell everything, but ultimately human does the "settings" on computers and they (GY) wont give in.

It looks like a gamble but I will definately save +700 doing outside...on my own...
knn ccb...

but did u actually hit a pot hole.....??
if u didnt and its actually a manufacturing defect then i would take the chance and try my luck.....dont just give up buddy

Donovan ... shit happens la ... if you did not hit anything then it can be sorted out. If its a manufacturer's defect then go and get it changed. You can always pay first with an agreement that if the tyre is replaced, you get your refund back. That is no biggie ...

How stupid and irresponsible of the SA. Contact Goodyear and demand for an appointment to inspect the tyre at once. SA should arrange for u. Who's your SA?

Their warranty exchange policy is such that they only "reimburse" the balance of the unutilised tread by percentage. They will take the tyre out from the rim and inspect for internal pinch mark. If a pinch mark is found, your claim will be denied entirely.

Just to update.
I have changed tire on my own ($1,600.0) as oppose to paying SC $2,200.0.
I brought in tire to Goodyear Shah Alam myself last friday 2-Nov and am awaiting reply.
The service people is very courteous but I must say that they are taking a long time to inspect my tire.
They apologised profusely and keep changing reply date from tuesday to wednesday (today) to thursday (tomorrow).

S.A took the commisen and why need to go through head ache larrr ...ayooo nowayaday SA just for bucks and not about knowing how to handle such after usage claims matter ...

Greetings bro, sorry to hear all this and the predocament you have gone thru. Honestly I strongly believe know nuts about Tyres and the warranty that comes with it ....Like some of the posting by OMs and CGs alike, for manufacturer defect, its a life time warranty but if its due to our own mishap, then its just too bad ....

Truly hope you get your tyre thingy sorted out ... all the best bro ... :top: ..

Hi guys,

I have finally managed to 'persuade + charm" the people at GY to replace a tire for me!!!
I guess it is better to approach GY directly as oppose to handing everything to SC as GY will offer a more personalised service.
SC wants to charge me first for job and that causes my blood pressure to naik.
Therefore anyone out ther who needs a replacement RFT, do pm me.
Or does anyone has any "recipe" to maintain RFT while not in use.

goodyear rocks!!

Dear Bimmerfans,
Couldn't help but empathise with Donovan's plight here. Had a colleague who bought a new F10 fitted with Goodyear RFT which developed a similar bulge on the sidewall within a couple of weeks of owning the ride. He took it back to AB Glen. They in turn got the Goodyear folks to look into it who subsequently politely washed their hands off the matter. But to my colleague's dismay when he when to collect the vehicle from AB Glen the noted damaged alloy rim and front bumper..... They (AB Glen) seemed to be rather bemused that my colleague was furious and initially denied responsibility. To cut a story short, my colleague had to escalate the matter to BMW HQ directly and BMW Msia. In a nutshell BMW Msia flew down an independent arbitrator from Spore to solve the dispute both on the tire and the damaged vehicle.

I am surprised that BMW Msia and its global HQ counterpart had to intervene in such a manner as it only proves that the local dealerships, atleast the one concerned here isn't up to the mark. I too have never been completely been satisfied with any of the official dealerships in Klang Valley in my own dealing for example when it comes servicing.

There is no attention to detail eg. I have had fascias refitted back poorly, smudge marks felt all over the roofliner and even adhesives spilled on middle arms rest and seat. All of which resulting in costly repair which I had to shell out for myself to put right. A simple car seat cover and even rags could have used to prevent such accidents. When I send my vehicle in each time I distress over the mess that I am going to encounter post servicing. They charge premium prices for vehicles sold and servicing but surprisingly their workmanship it below par when we take our car into official dealership for work to be done to our loved rides. This is in stark contrast to my dealings with BMW dealership while living abroad in Europe.

I am admit after reading the latter part of my post some bimmerfans might think I am real fussy individual. But you know what "I AM FUSSY" and proud to be so. That's my nature esp in the high pressure line of work that I do where I often don't get second chances. I take this same type A personality trait in everything that I am passionate about including my ride. I would have never allowed the car to be picked up by a customer in the condition it was when I did mine!

If I had the means, I wished I could open a exclusive BMW service and repair garage where the customers are treated like friends/brand aficionados not just bags of money with feet! I even thought of a name which I guess is not registered in Msia "BMW CarFellas". Sadly I have neither the finances not the skills set to do so. Maybe in another life.:burnout:

I think the management of the SC has to improve. No point blaming it on SA or mechanic while their management is indifferent. What the public can do is to boycott bad services! I am sure among AB, Wearnes, Ingress and Quill, someone wish to have many customers therefore would go the extra mile to give good services.

Maybe we can rank them in this forum. Maybe we BMW owners go to only "the one" who gives good service! That's the only way to get even with arrogances :)

Good. Keeps the dealer on his toes..

Heard of many such stories....
