my guessing would (a) would be prefacelift and (b) facelifted model....or (A) for automatic...(b) i duno

Yeah i also think like that..bcoz normally (a) for auto transmission and (m) is for manual..but in BMW i don know what it means ( bcoz i still newbies in BMW..hahaha )

i like to have the SMG model..the body part looks more Sporty...:top:

SMG nice to have but prepare for repair bills haha, as it is the 1st gen SMG module, similar Magnetti Marelli unit used in the early 156s, its not known to be reliable. :)

Yes, some of our members has make this request to check the car before they buy the BMW car. Or u can ask 1 of us which has the BMW Scanner to check the car's ECU. The car dealer will change the KM usage which stored on the meter cluster. But the they not able to change the KM usage which stored on EWS. So by using BMW Scanner 1.4 u can see this by urself.

No problem. I can go with u to check the car using my BMW Scanner 1.4. And if can u better bring another mechanic which know about engine. Scanner sometime not able to show exact problem. Sometime engine sound different also meaning engine facing problem which scanner not able to check.

The price is fair bro. Expansion tank cap should be around RM50 and the tank is about RM250, your belts are cheap are they original?

Since you are in Johor, why not drop in to Singapore Eng Soon to buy your stuff price there are cheaper by lots :)

Wan e46, which workshop did you go ?

what a different between E46 (a) and E46 (b)..i saw so many dealer/owner type this one..can any sifus or frenz help me?

thanks

Add like Mudah use (a) for Auto and (b) for BOTH means manual+automatic. More popular known as tiptronic. Porsche called their auto+manual as PDK (Porsche Doppelkupplung). VW call it DSG (Direct Shift Gearbox or in German: Direkt-Schalt-Getriebe). For MANUAL it should be (m)

Well my friend, Wiki should be your best reference looking for details on engine and model. Google it.

Deciding on cars and model is very much personal preference. Affordability, image, number of years , mileage, look, face lift against pre facelift, options, interior, colour, original factory M Sport package against local upgrade etc. Yes as lot of sifu and mechanic says, M43 engine is more reliable. So does most of SOHC engine out there. Same issue being discussed about E60 comparing M54 engine against newer magnesium based engine. Mechanic will say magnesium engine problem one !. BMW stand is newer engine introduce is more efficient while producing same if not more amount of power. Not to mention about the stick emission rules in Europe now.

As for me that love to spend time at workshop, look at engine bay weekly, pay attention to the meter cluster, I guess owning BMW with N46 engine is fine with me. I have 3 engine choice in the family now (N46 for E87 1 Series, M54B22 for E46 and M54B25 for E39), I should be able to tell the difference.

Love+hate relationship :)
