Hi all sifu...

I'm just a newbie in this forum... from JB... Would like to seek some advice from you all...

I have just sold my car 2 months ago, was planning to get a Korean new car at the first place, but I found out 318i is kinda affordable and one of my dream car as well (look at the car price RM50k-RM60k), just wonder how much loan can be approved?

I just will drive 2 days in a week, as I'm working in Singapore, back to JB on either Friday night or Saturday afternoon. Roughly will only spend 100KM-200KM per week only. So fuel consumption is not an issue to me (but definitely can't accept if the fuel cost RM0.30+/KM, RM0.20+-/KM still acceptable)

One thing afraid is the maintenance cost, I afraid once buy then have to repair this repair that every month, then will quite suffer for that.

Is it advisable for me to buy 318i?

Hi bro, thanks for your proposed, but 5-series out of my budget, manual 320 also, the E46-325 location is a bit far from me (I'm located at JB)

http://www.mudah.my/Bmw+318+e46+a+03-17773292.htm

and I found this from Mudah.my, tested the car, overall quite nice, but i really don't know how to check the car, this is 1900cc E46 318, Year 99 oversea model (i dunno from where), Year 2003 recon to Malaysia (this car is own by the SA of the 2nd hand car dealer, under his name, his claimed that he always change car, just drove this car 6 months only, dunno can trust or not la)

wonder is it a good choice? and wonder how many years can be loaned (i understand the interest might as high as 5.75%), as i know i need to have some cash to repair the car, so try to loan as long as possible....

318i may feel abit underpowered IMO. For a year 99 model, I'm afraid the max tenor may only go up to 3 years. best to look for facelifted models ie. 2002 onwards if you would like to stretch you loan tenor longer.

I think you should compare it by the engine model.
I would think that E46 318i between 1999 - 2000 which using M43 engine is more better.

ya, after i read thru some threads, i will stick for E46 318i M43 engine...

but how can i know from engine bay that the engine is M43?

is this engine is M43 itself like?

This is how I managed my income every month as a family man;
10% for my home loan
20% for my kids expenses+education
10% for insurance
10% pocket $$
10% car loan
5%-10% udm maintenance
10% for home expenses
20% for saving

very well calculated, reality is another question unless you are earning 10k net salary.
