lol... agree :top:
by the way, just wanna inform you that I have decided to add interface to my existing Japanese specs CCC instead of changing to UK/MYS like you did
By adding Dension... I don't need AuxIn anymore and still can enjoy the sound directly through speakers instead of radio frequency (according to the audio shop's boss)
Other stuff include:
1) Garmin gvn53
2) Alpine Reverse Camera (in dire need of one)
3) latest Kenwood single din DVD/VCD/MP3/WMA/WAV/Radio player (eliminate the radio problem)
4) USB and iPod connector
Best of all, I can control them using the button on my steering :D
Will update you on this once I install

Cool! Show us some pics once installed and let us know how it goes!

Hiya,

I am new to all this and i just got my car for abt a month. Jap Specs 2005 E60.

I am concern with 2 things
1. PDC - Quite urgent and important
2. FM Receiver - Not very urgent and but would be nice to listen to other thing other than the cds.

This CCC swap is to enable us to use the PDC and also the FM receiver right? And what price are we talking about? If it is not too pricey, i would definitely love to get it done.

Pardon my ignorance and thanks for your kind answers.

Erest

hi bro, wat is PDC ah?

Guys, been off radar for a while. I've got my CCC converted some months ago. Totally happy with Freddie's work. It's a good idea that you guys are teaming up for a group by. Quite sure he'll give you a good deal. Freddie if you're reading this "GIVE THEM A GOOOOD DEAL". Yes you loose your TV function, have added a couple of things like DVD, cameras et al. I say to you guys if budget permits GO FOR IT, the CCC swap is the best way to go....speaking thru' experience of course.

how much u spend for the convertion? wana estimate my budget..

u are more than welcomed to go and see Freddie..this is not a binding thing, just a bunch of guys with the same aim if replacing our crappy jap-spec idrive to my/euro ones.we can get some discount by having at least 9 cars under a groupbuy deal with Obermaier.

let us know when u meet Freddie and what he's got to say.

cheers bro:top:

sorry ah..still new here.. who are Freddie and Obermaier??

anyone here drive a M-Sport? my machine is 525i M Sport year 2005. according to my dealer, m-sport car dun hv reverse sensor 1, is tat true? everytime i park my car, it is a big challenge for me bcos no sensor n the car body is so long. 1 more question, wat brand of tinted i should go for? any criteria i should emphasize on?appreciate ur guidance...thanks

We own the same car here.. I just got my car a month ago. It seems that you have a lot of questions here:
1) PDC = Parking Distance Control... same thing as reverse sensor but very expensive to fit one onto your car... I suggest that you install a reverse camera on your car
2) if you are to convert the CCC at Obermaier (it's a shop name and Freddy is the person in charge there)... most likely you will be quoted about RM9000! You can try to negotiate... by the way, Obermaier is located in Jalan Ipoh
3) Since your car is quite expensive, I would suggest you to go for those that are high end such as Llumar or V-Kool... ask for those that can withstand break force... if not mistaken, expect the price to be around RM2500-3500 for the whole car.

Not quite true. It's nothing to do with M-Sport. Local and UK M-Sport also has PDC (i.e. reverse and front sensor). It's more to do with Jap-spec cars, almost all don't come with PDC. But if you look hard enough, you can find. Mine is also Jap-spec but 530. I managed to find 2 with PDC. And only 1 in the color I wanted. Anyway, that's a moot point since you already have bought our car. Your next alternative is to fit a reverse camera to the car. That will also help you with your radio problem if you choose to fit 3rd party FM tuner/DVD changer/GPS in the car at the same time. You can, of course, also fit 3rd party reverse sensors, but that would involve drilling holes in your bumper. You can also fit original PDC sensors, but that would really cost a bomb.

BC23,

Looks like brother Thule has explain to you quite a bit. Hehe.. Save some of my typing time.

I have since, installed only a third party reverse sensor. As much as I hate it, no choice lor. next year going to be a bad year.. Dont feel like spending 9k for the ccc, 7 k for the pdc and another 2k for the bumpers. Guess I will have to live with for a while. Unless of course Freddie can lower his price. Anyway, it is just an excuse, cause I blow the budget on the Bose home theater system. hehehe..

Brothers here whom say can get together and change the ccc at 20% discount, I think they also kinda pulled the hadnbrakes, didn't they?

I think it's kinda hard to go for Group Buy due to each other's commitments... not everyone can make it to Obermaier and talk to Freddy...

Bro Erest - I will post up everything that I'd installed in this thread soon...

BC23... just go install a reverse camera... brands such as Eclipse, Alpine, Kenwood are good... they can be connected to your screen, provided that you install an interface... if you are interested, I can PM you the shop's name...

P.S: I will go to install DVD player, radio, USB, reverse camera, GPS navigator this Saturday in Uptown.... if u r interested, u can come over to look at how they actually do it...

i would strongly discourage the use of security tinted films which are break-proof on your BMW or any car for that matter. this is because almost all BMW's especially the newer ones have design fault where the electronics may fail in event of an accident, preventing the passengers from opening the doors and windows. there may be situations such as an accident, a fire or underwater where the only way to escape is by breaking your windows and imagine if u have UNBREAKABLE WINDOWS! i would choose to protect lives than possessions...

bc23,
