I think it's kinda hard to go for Group Buy due to each other's commitments... not everyone can make it to Obermaier and talk to Freddy...

Bro Erest - I will post up everything that I'd installed in this thread soon...

Yeah.. I also think so. Myself also been travelling.

Looking forward to those pictures. Please take some pictures.

Some more pics...

1st pic is the DVD playing. As you can see, it takes up the full screen.

2nd pic is showing how it all looks in relation to the dashboard.

Movie playing is Casino Royale in case anyone is wondering....

Didn't take the pics of the radio screen, but nothing spectacular. Main thing is that I can get all the channels now as compared to the lousy reception the booster gave.

Alxy,
I am terribly jealous... It is the REAL thing to get.

BC23,
If money is no problem, please go for this. All problem solved. Bro Thule third party stuff is cool and can save you lotsa $$$ but if you want it GREAT this is the way to go.

lol... agree :top:
by the way, just wanna inform you that I have decided to add interface to my existing Japanese specs CCC instead of changing to UK/MYS like you did
By adding Dension... I don't need AuxIn anymore and still can enjoy the sound directly through speakers instead of radio frequency (according to the audio shop's boss)
Other stuff include:
1) Garmin gvn53
2) Alpine Reverse Camera (in dire need of one)
3) latest Kenwood single din DVD/VCD/MP3/WMA/WAV/Radio player (eliminate the radio problem)
4) USB and iPod connector
Best of all, I can control them using the button on my steering :D
Will update you on this once I install

Bro thule..

How much is the cost of all this upgrade?
Regards

Yeah, i was considering the 3rd party solutions also, but for that, I would have to upgrade my software first, as original one did not come with AUX-IN option (though bro Thule says AUX-IN not needed with Dension. Wonder how it done then? Direct cut into the CCC speaker system?) And was advised that doing so might fry my CCC, so come back to square one.

But end of day, I would still have to spend about RM9K for that (incl s/w upgrade, but not if CC burnt!). So for that kind of cash AND risk, might as well get it done the original way as BMW meant it to be

BTW, note one thing. Freddie said that if you change the CCC, you can no longer upgrade your SSS. This is because it will still need to recognize it as Jap-spec CCC, which means if you want to upgrade SSS, you have to replace back your old Jap CCC first.

i think this is because of the plug and play installation and no coding or retrofit coding is done to inform the car's body gateway module that the CCC has been change...so during i-Level/SSS upgrade the gateway cannot recognize the CCC in order to reply status to the programmer...this can only be done if you swap the old CCC back in...

this is normally the case if there is no specific coding for the job provided by BMW unless there is retrofit coding for the change of CCC

Damn...

Just when I think I know a lot about BMW's stuff, here comes another jargon.

SSS

The CCC software is updated (mine is v30), but the SSS refers to the entire car software. CCC=Car Communication Computer which basically handles the media and communications. Whereas SSS= Software Service Station.

Finally!!!
Got back from KL after a looooooonnnnnggggggggg weekend! here's my story:

Alxy - according to the boss, the Dension is meant to be installed at the CD changer inside the dashboard so the sound can be channelled directly to the speaker. But I don't know why... my CD changer is not working at all. He'd asked his friend to do diagnosis on the car but the computer showed that there was no error at all. So I had to go for Plan B

Plan B - have to update the software... he sent my car to Raymond's Autowork in Kota Damansara to do Progman from my original version 25 to the latest V30... not before he informed that there is possibility for the CCC to 'kong'. No choice but to take the risk as the Dension can't be installed... sigh! The whole process cost me RM2200
After that, they started to install the interface, Garmin 53, Eclipse reverse camera, Kenwood DVD player with USB capability...
So far, everything was great except for the radio signal which is quite weak. It's not clear with a lot of noise... even they could not determine the exact problem... but the boss will try to rectify for me by adding a booster (just the one to improve reception signal) but since he has no stock... I will have to wait for another week or two. Anyway, I will post pictures here soon... stay tuned!

wah update i-Level also need rm2200 ka...u sure u tak kena ketuk or kapak...

Yo... I'd asked around... the Progman will probably cost about RM2600 to RM3000 in AB, Ingress or Sapura... not only update your CCC but the entire car... so looking at the bright side, next time don't have to waste anymore $$$ loh...

I was so scared that my CCC will 'kong' but thank god it didn't... I was there to look at the whole process... they didn't cut any wires.. just tap... if would be perfect if the CD changer is working
Oh well... now that I got everything that I need... :top:

thule how long does the programming takes...i was informed by AB u need one day...

my car was in 10.30am... finished almost 5pm...
I was informed by the boss that this is due to the progman will scan one module at a time... let's say that the whole car has about 9 modules... scan one at a time while updating them. If there's one problem with the 3rd module, it will stop there and won't continue until you rectify the module...
just pray that there's no problem with your car's modules... hahhaha.. if not, prepare to bleed :D
Coz mine is a Japanese specs... there is possibility for the car dealers not rectify the modules in the car... therefore, their appointed mechanic will put the malfunction module to sleep by switching it to "transport" mode... thus ignoring the problem...

i got mine updated for free if i am not mistaken coz i complain air cond cannot shutdown...so in this case i save alot of $$$ lo coz i dunno it was that expensive...

so ur CD changer works liau or not?

that means all your modules are working :top: otherwise you will be asked to replace them... and unless your car is still under warranty, it will definitely cost a bomb. So what's your version??? I got the latest v30 :D

pls read my earlier post... even with diagnosis, there is no error displayed... so it's not the module problem. They claimed that it was the CCC problem where the optic connecting CD changer to the CCC... but since I update to V30, AuxIn has been displayed... and no point paying extra RM2.4k to have Dension installed.
Conclusion:
1) Interface
2) Progman (v30)
3) Eclipse Reverse Camera
4) Kenwood DVD player with USB slot
5) Garmin gvn53

my one version v50 lo...haha nola i also dunno they say latest one so shud be V30 as according to the TIS from Bee Emm Labaliu

the CD changer does not connect to the CCC nor the CCC connects to the CD Changer or Amplifier or whatever that is on fibre optics...the are connected in ring topology and referred to by Bee Emm Labaliu as the MOST...in this case i think the CD Changer kong liau or u need the retrofit coding for the CD changer to work...happens to me when i took off my changer and swap with the i-pod...the i-pod cannot work coz no coding was done...afta pay rm90 to AB it works...
