Jap Spec E60 - do's and don't

But then I find this stuff... Dension which can be integrated onto the active steering control... with additional ipod connector... USB connector...

according to some of the bimmers and workshops... NOPE!!!
I realised that there are some who excourage to change the whole CCC but there are also those who actually go for the interface... I am also confused!!

If your CCC already has AUX then you can do that. Otherwise you would have to program to the latest version. And that might cause the CCC to burn.

I just installed my brand new CCC at Freddie's! I must say there is nothing that beats seeing things as it was meant to be seen, i.e. the way BMW meant it to! Satnav is a thrill now, as is the radio. MP3 also helps. And the DVD changer also seems to blend in with the iDrive as if it were OEM. No regrets so far (well, it's been only 5 hours so obviously I would say that! )

Do you also have
1. PDC?
2. Ipod jacks?
3. Bluetooth?

4. IDrive (what other additional thing is on the new Idrive?) A FEW NEW FEATURES, BUT NOTE MY OLD CCC WAS REAL OLD. IF YOUR CAR IS NEWER THAN 2004 IT MIGHT ALREADY HAVE THOSE "NEW" FEATURES

Do you also have
1. PDC? NORMALLY JAP SPEC DOES NOT HAVE PDC, BUT I MANAGED TO FIND ONE OF THOSE RARE FEW THAT DO.
2. Ipod jacks? NOT THAT I KNOW OF. AM NOT AN IPOD FAN SO NEVER ASKED
3. Bluetooth? BLUETOOTH READY, JUST NEED THE MODULE.

Sorry for the lengthy questions. Just want to confirm.

FYI... I have no AUX in my CCC but according to the audioshop, once you install the DENSION... you will not have to use the radio frequency anymore. How's that???

In addition, I get Garmin MalSing map (latest), ability to connect iPod, UBB device, play DVD/MP3/VCD/WAV/RADIO using a normal single-din player (alpine).

By the way, how much does it cost you for the CCC change + DVD changer??? Any reverse camera?

Bro, FYI, Dension GW500 provides (1) iPod Audio (2) iPod Video (needs additional module - Dension IVE1000) (3) Aux Input (4) USB Audio (5) Bluetooth A2DP (needs additional module BTA1500) (6) Bluetooth Hands-free (also needs additional module BTA1500)

It is a great aftermarket product!!!

But, in your case, i can confirm that for this GW500 to work you'll need to make sure that your CCC is:
1) MP3 enabled
2) Has a CD Changer

If you don't comply to this, then forget about it...It won't work! How do i know? That's coz' i seem to have it installed on my car and that all the functions above that i've stated is working on my car...

From what i know, if i'm not mistaken, japan spec CCC's don't have MP3 enabling @ retrofitting as an option...they also don't have DVD drive as part of the hardware which if i'm not mistaken can't be retrofitted too! The jap spec CCC's only provide an MD(which is definitely useless to us) and CD drive...But, best of luck on the install...

If you have no AUX, then you would first have to get your CCC programmed to latest version. But WARNING! Have heard that this might cause your CCC to get burnt! Once you do that, then basically you don't need anything else. The AUX is just for the audio. Everything else would be 3rd party add-on, e.g. the GPS, DVD changer, etc... If you install the DENSION, it would probably have a built in FM tuner inside, doesn't mean your iDrive radio is not there. Still there but you won't be using it anymore. You would presumably be using the DENSION radio to listen to.

Can't say on the price cuz Freddie said not to tell anyone. Apparently he gave me a good price. Either that or he "katok" me and didn't want me to find out!

Anyway, I can say that if the DENSION thing is going to cost RM9K (probably without considering the SSS upgrade yet!) then would be worth you going to Freddie just to find out more. Like I said, nothing like seeing it the way it was meant to be seen.....

No reverse camera, I have one of those rare Jap spec cars that came with PDC.... so not needed

OK here are the pics.....

first pic is the main menu after change. Doesn't look much different from the pic (blame the lousy Nokia phone cam!), but it is actually silverish now compared to brownish for the old one

2nd pic is the MP3 on the main screen (with the artist and song name displayed! cool!) and satnav on 2nd screen

3rd pic is the satnav screen. You can choose options on what to display. This is what I typically choose.

Err... that just happened to be playing....on that same CD is Bon Jovi, Phil Collins, Linkin Park, Metallica, Simon and Garfunkel, Emil Chau, Beyond, Sam Hui, Amy Search, Wings, Ella, Ekamatra, etc... also. My taste in music is quite diverse, but mainly rock and alternative. But yeah, I like the Bee Gees

The beautiful thing is now in 1 CD I can fit the same amount (or more!) of music that I could fit in the 6 CD changer!
