I think the program did not recognise by window 7 registry ... hence the meassage. Need to download the program (P.A. Soft bmw scanner) from the website and run exe installation files.

I think my program in the thumbdrive is corrupted. I just download the program from bmw-scanner and install it in bimmerholic computer
and it works fine. Earlier it gave the "exception error" when I use my thumbdrive.

In addition, the USB driver did not need to be re-install.

got the software installed and tested on my car...works fine but minimal function...can erase error code and enable tv function on the move nia...others not available such as real time data...

T2 also sapu XXX scanner to try it on his M5. Hope it works.

T2, appreciate some feedback on the scanner for e39 m5.

Yeah, I noticed the LIVE data is only available on certain model. There is also NO live data for XXX E39.

Live data is available for my E46/2004. To others, please confirm Live data on your car. Would appreciate
if you could state your model/year.

I have got this INPA installed but cannot get it to work. Do you have to have the interface connect in order to run. I got the same screen but blank in the middle and blank in the function button. What interface do you use ? Homemade stuff ? You are the guru.

Jarance hope you don't mind highjacking your gb thread, will start my own when there is more solid result.

IanDaddy, make sure you get the proper INPA EDIABAS installer. This is my second download after the first one EDIABAS only support ADS. The installer for this is around 500MB while the first one is only 63MB. I can't get the link to it since I'm at work.

Interface wise, this is a virtualized windows XP SP2 32bit pro on windows 7 64bit home, cliptec usb to rs232 with prolific chip. Homemade 16 pin OBD to serial with below schematic.

On my testbench, giving 12V supply to battery and ignition pin fills up battery and ignition indicator. Haven't tried on the car yet, so can't celebrate just yet

Seems that we're gonna have a great discussion on this. Jarance is correct that FTDI is a usb to serial converter. Schematic for INPA/GT1 would be like this

Missed out your question, no you don't need to have the interface connected in order to run. It is serial anyway so it can't check if there's anything on the other end..

Thanks. I installed it but when I start INPA I get API init errors. And I also don't get the Ediabas Server running like you have on your screenshot. Reinstalled twice.
I cannot find the the BMW Group Nachbearbei.......in step 2.5 of the instructions pdf.
