are you driving a 320i? agree on it being good to drive and the reliability being dodgy as hell.
No its the the 316i, if they can't solve the issue when I send it back again for a week then I would be thinking of switching brands when the warranty is up. Can't be spending time and money to send it in again when the warranty expires.

Best part of all is my wife who drives this car most of the time found another unusual sound and I've yet to take it on the road to see what this new sound is. I've let the service manager know and he said he will block another courtesy car for me when I bring it back again for troubleshooting and when I ask who is actually tending to my car his reply was this time he will appoint a senior tech...which means a junior tech was fixing my car before this and that explains all those scratches done onto my car and now I have two different kind of sounds coming from the car with that spoilt glove box light. Who knows what they actually did inside the whole dashboard when they were trying to fix the initial issue and I dare not look in it!

I think the pricing for the 316i is really a winner as it will allow people entry to BMW. but BWW got its nickname "banyak makan wang" for a reason.

But one thing people dont realise when is reliability. Amongst the big 3 (Audi, Mer and BMW). BMW sits last. Merc is the most reliable but you can ask my dad how often and how expensive it is to fix. I've owned the 328i for 2 years now, i've had steering noises (still not fixed), suspension sounds (sent in for more than 3 weeks worth), rusty seats, wind noise (still there at 80km/h), electronic errors (check engine light, ABS), leather coming apart at the seams (driver seat) and its only 2 years old.

yes, i can smoke everyone at the traffic lights. but i think after 2 years, i feel that the car will only get sicker and breakdown more often

These BMW's made in recent years will only last 2 years at the most? Looks like yours is in worse shape compared to mine and yeah I have my experience owning a BMW now, fun to drive but pain to own after the warranty expires. How to maintain loyal customers if that's the case I wonder?

It's a joy to drive but in the end it serve's its purpose to be a vehicle ferrying you from point A to B and durability will be the main factor in owning any vehicle. I'll be back in the country soon and will want to solve these niggling issues asap so that I can continue enjoying my drive and hopefully no other major faults come up else I would think of a Benz as the next option for reliability's sake.

BMW Malaysia is actually being very unfair to Malaysians. with 2 years warranty and poor service.

I recently bought a japanese backup in case my BMW (banyak masuk workshop), fails me.

my brakes makes a squeeling sound whenever I accelerate above 90km/h and disappears after hitting 105km/h. will be fixing it soon.

i really like the looks of my F30, and the power. but the issues that keeps popping up makes me sad

My Ultimate Disaster Machine gave me trouble few weeks ago, with some faulty sensor which causing mis-fire of the engine. The car jerking like a newbie driving a manual car and end up with gear disengage to N and engine shut off. Luckily a restart of engine and the car still can go. Quickly send it to dealer for inspection and diagnose found faulty oxygen sensor. Quite scary, imagine if you are speeding on highway and this happens....

Looks like an old topic to me but generally haven't seen such a case with them yet. I'm willing to go along with Benz if it really comes down to it partly coz my old classmate since primary school days is in the after sales division so whenever I meet up with him I'd hear some stories but nth serious yet so far!

Wow bad luck bro, how old is your ride now?

I am just wondering why our local assembly BMW has so much problems. Does these defects similarly also seen in other countries ? Assembly problems or local parts manufactured problems or purely BMW design problems ?

I think it applies for our country for most of the cases in which we have rattling and squeaking noises in any CKD model.

In that case, does our local vendor produces the spare parts with the right spec ? This is usually happen if the part tolerance was not in according to the actual spec, otherwise, it is the design window that is not good enough to accommodate variations from spare parts vendors,

I can't comment on the local vendors as I have no clue as to which vendor BMW uses over here but if I'm not wrong, majority of the kit of the vehicle is shipped in from overseas and its assembled here so technically its not made but assembled here. My money goes to the poor assembly line and QA/QC that they perform over here which led to the lower quality cars running around.

AFAIK their main rival Mercedes has stricter QA/QC measurements done onto each car that rolls out. Not to say their cars are faultless but the faults are a lot lesser (coming from an old friend of mine who currently works in the Hap Seng after sales side) compared to BMW hence hence MBM has the confidence to offer 4 years of warranty in return.

Makes sense now when BMW doesn't want to increase their warranty length now eh?

i bought my BMW same time as my dad got his merc.

he has his issues and i had mine.

the issue he had was really minor like faulty remote for car and slight rattles from uneven roads (happens very intermittently)

my BMW? its always giving me sounds and squeaks. long visits to BMW dealers. the rattles from my BMW happens every single time i drive my car. the whirring sound from brakes happens every time i exceed 120km/h.

that said, if you follow the UK forums, they do have a few issues with their cars thats common with ours as well.

I'll be sending my car in for another round of troubleshooting and hopefully this time they will get it right. Service manager has notified me he will be appointing one of his senior tech to take a look at my car. Right now I can hear my turbo spooling all the time and the engine's sound (metallic ticking sound when constant throttle is pressed while driving) is seeping through the firewall after the previous round of troubleshooting. I have the feeling they appointed a junior tech to look at my car the last time and he didn't seal properly all the holes...............!

Sean, you are sending it again to Quill? I sent my car to get squeaking, the way they handled it was appalling. In the end it was not fixed. One of the thing that pissed me off that they told me they got everything fixed when they didn't even do anything. Called BMW Voice and the manager called me the next day. Just offered some BS story on what happened. I'm now concerned about sending it to Quill to get it fixed again.

Yes bro sending to Quill again sigh I know what you mean because the first time I handed it over to them, they told me they had not enough time to solve it and I got additional scratches in my interior! Second time with them they managed to minimize the noise and replaced the scratched panels but out comes another engine noise seeping through the firewall!

I'm not sure if its possible to send it to another dealer for a second opinion? Con is they have to start all over again to find the issue.

i have this issue too..

actually, during my test drive before i bought the car, there was this sound already.

i asked the salesman. he said it was the disc brakes due for servicing.

when my car had this sound, there was nothing wrong with the disc brakes.

let me know if yours will be fix this round.

thanks.

Hmm okay it's not from the brakes coz I heard this sound from my previous car only when I do hard acceleration but on is BMW it's happening all the time and it's annoying when you do not have the radio on. This and that vibrating sound from my steering column really combo breaker.

This should be my last time with Quill after sales if they still cannot solve this issue. Anyone got any experience with Ingress especially with the after sales team in Puchong?

actually, i am surprise you blame the SC but not the car?

i think this would be my last BMW. i will remind my family not to get them as my experience with my 328i has been quite appalling.

Its both of them in this case. Poor QA/QC when it left the factory and poor handling of my car by their technicians when I sent it in for warranty claims with all those scratches done onto my car interior panels and some oil leaks coming from the meter panel and light control panel and not to forget they didn't assemble back my glove box light when they handed the car back to me.

I'll be sending my car in for the 3rd time this coming Monday and I will ask them not to rush and will confirm again for a senior technician this time around.
