Duke, In my opinion, I bought this car in early this year, which is about 1.5 year after the launched. I don't have those problems listed in this website to be honest. I am sure BMW had rectified most of it, if not all of the teething issues by now. Of course the overall maintenance cost is higher than those normal car, but you need to think the other side of coin where you are driving a complete different car, the driving feeling is very different, I am referring to the comfort, the stability, and the thrill. You don't get these in Japanese cars honestly. There is nothing free in this world, and you will get what you pay for.

Thanks for the explaination brother sh_Callum. Btw bro, if I'm mistaken you are from Penang right? Actually I'm from Penang too and currently having tour of duty in Vietnam.I'm planning to get the car in May or June this year but not sure whether should I go to AB or TS....any suggestion over here?

From my recent shop around for my F30, TS appear to be more competitive in terms of discount compared to AB Pg. Even though I was an AB Penang customer 6 years ago. Ingress made the deal at the end of the day, neither AB Penang nor TS.

Do not hurry considering you are plonking Rm200k on a new ride, shop around for the best deal.

From my experience, I am pretty comfortable with AB Penang. They are very customer oriented as far as to my experience with them.

Yes I can vouch for AB Penang with good after sales. Even though I made the purchase via Ingress, AB Pg is where I will still send in for BSRI and between service oil change.

Thanks to both brothers advice...Can you PM me your SA contacts from AB Pg?

Last question regarding 316i: since I'm not a rempit kaki and usually driving at max 130km/hr speed and occasionally will drive from North to South for family outing, will this little baby able to stand this endurance? I just worried that the turbo/engine will letup due to small cc...

Many thanks....

Duke, already sent to you the AB Penang contacts. He will provide very good service to you. They have plenty of stocks available for quick delivery as told.

Pm sent.

Shouldn't be a problem. I used to drive golf 1.4 tsi and make trips between pg and kl average once a quarter. The small twin charger engine can certainly handle 130km/h comfortably and still have sufficient juice to do overtaking beyond 130km/h. The 316i likewise should be able to handle your expectation assuming you can held back from "tekan" the accelerator later on.

I know many golf out there have reliability issue but I have only made the mechatronics recall and demanded for clutch pack change once under warranty for low gear shift juddering. Apart from that it has served me well for the last 3 years.

Duke, one more thing, in case you are working in MNC companies, you will be entitled to have corporate discounts, please making sure that you ask for this. Companies that I knew in Penang such as Motorola, Intel, Jabil etc.....check this out with the SA.

Duke,

316i owner here. I dont have the earlier issues reported. Just got my car a week ago. Supposed to get Accord 2.4 but immediately booked 316i after test driving it. Not sure you will be sticking to 130km/h after trying sports mode. The following is what i got from my dealer - 5% corporate discount, free Illumar tint and key fob leather case as free gift.

Klsgs1, good deal indeed, else you will get a "Perdana car" instead.... ^..^.

This is an amazing car, 200km/h on highway, no sweat !

So far no issues with the car except for some steering vibration noise I got on the same day I received the car *face palm* but other than that car is doing great and have to agree on the 2 year warranty thing when it should have been at least 3 years.

As for maintenance, one would expect to fork more on it compare to a Japanese or Korean car but at least it's being cushioned by the gimmicky BSRI for the first 3 years haha.

I can't comment on the premature failure of parts though as the F30 is still relatively new for the test of time durability but BMW Malaysia's QC was never that good. Try looking at their FB page and you will see what I mean. I'm just lucky that my car didn't suffer any major issue yet.

At what speed u experience the steering vibration ? Is it fixed ? What is the cause of the vibration ?

It happens at almost any speed and according to my wife who drives it often, the sound is getting more frequent so I'm sending it back to the SC for troubleshooting early next month. I think it's just a case of some loose part hitting against each other in the steering column.

Hope the SC can make a clean diagnosis and problem rectification. Keep us posted on the outcome.
