316i top speed is capped at 210 km/h. It can get there within very reasonable time for a 1.6
I've sent the car in yesterday for troubleshooting and they're still not done today which makes me think the sound might be coming from somewhere else. I'll be asking for a courtesy car if this continues on to tomorrow.pchan1 said:Hope the SC can make a clean diagnosis and problem rectification. Keep us posted on the outcome.

Update 18/04: Found more scratches below my meter panel and dealer service rep responded saying I reported late and this was dealt not professionally so I reported it to BMW Voice and raised it up to Quill Service Manager. Waiting for their response. I seriously dislike them trying to say that I deliberately damaged my own car and best part is I was out of the country after i received my car back from them. Luckily I also had a 3rd party witness to see how they spoke to me when I received my car back and I will ask him to testify if Quill try anything funny with me. Where is the professionalism and courtesy in people these days?seancorr said:I've sent the car in yesterday for troubleshooting and they're still not done today which makes me think the sound might be coming from somewhere else. Update 09/04: Got my car back today from Quill as they could not supply me with a courtesy car to troubleshoot it any longer so the sound is still there and best part is they scratched my interior driver door handle so I made a complain about that and they will have it replaced when I send my car in again upon them supplying me a courtesy car to use. From one issue now got two issues...aiseh...
I hope they will buckle up and do a better job after my case. Those technicians should have treated their customers cars as if it were their own car....where is the passion in maintaining such cars like a BMW?JoeKenzoM said:I'm worried now to send my car to Quill. What kind of service that doesnt even look after your car?
How bad are those scratches? Maybe you can post some photos for us to see. My advise is to meet the after sales manager in person to resolve the matter. Sometimes we may have to give and take to resolve any disputes. Best of luck to you.seancorr said:I hope they will buckle up and do a better job after my case. I'll wait for them to come back to me next week as I now have 3 issues rather than 1 when I first brought it in for troubleshooting and those two extra issues could have been avoided by Quill if they had more respect for their customers vehicles as we expect them to be the ones qualified to handle our cars.
Here's one pic with some oil stain that I have no idea how it got there and another similar pic taken from another angle. The after sales manager was friendly enough to look into this issue for me. Will see what's happening tomorrow.splee said:How bad are those scratches? Maybe you can post some photos for us to see. My advise is to meet the after sales manager in person to resolve the matter. Normally it is based on the availability of the cars that are either pre-registered with the dealer or their demo cars. Past courtesy cars I got was an E90 320i, X3 2.0i and a F10 520dprodigy said:Hehe, I thought you could choose whatever car they have at their disposal. If i had the choice, I'd probably go for the 740iL or X5.
Lol I wish!prodigy said:Hehe, I thought you could choose whatever car they have at their disposal. If i had the choice, I'd probably go for the 740iL or X5.
You got to sample many cars in one go!Mavik said:Normally it is based on the availability of the cars that are either pre-registered with the dealer or their demo cars. Past courtesy cars I got was an E90 320i, X3 2.0i and a F10 520d
Yeah the service manager has yet to come back to me on this issue but he did say that the height difference is always evident on his own car. Worse come to worse I will have to show them the difference between the courtesy car and my own car when the time comes for me to surrender it back.pchan1 said:Maybe have to ask SC to check 2 things.
1. Distance between lowest and highest seat setting. In summary the travel distance between the lowest and highest setting for height adjustment.
2. Baseline height.
I suspect the baseline height is different to begin with therefore you can't reach the desired height regardless.
Keep us posted, Seancorr.

are you driving a 320i? agree on it being good to drive and the reliability being dodgy as hell.seancorr said:Update on my car after receiving it back from Quill....sound at steering column is STILL THERE but softer than last time so I have the feeling it will get louder again over time like before so I will be sending it AGAIN maybe at the end of this year after monitoring it for a couple of months since we only have TWO years of warranty so better make the best out of it while I can.
Scratches made by them on the interior panels have all been replaced which is good but my glove box light isn't working now! Will have them fix it when I see them the next time.
Honestly it hasn't been a good experience for me owning a BMW with all these visits to the workshop and facing some serious bad attitudes of after sales people until I had to report it to BMW Malaysia and then dealing with the service manager directly.
All this goes down into my list of car brands to avoid when I'm shopping for my next vehicle which is a pity coz BMW cars are such a joy to drive until you're faced with its various issues.
