Hi all, any place recommend can get cheaper price engine oil beside tesco? Castrol edge/ Mobil 1

Just a word of caution here.....plenty of fakes Castrol, Shell and Mobil 1 in the market nowadays. Would you just want to buy cheaper branded lubricant oil and later ended up having to overhaul your engine for thousands of ringgit??

Some popular lube brands offered via online websites are cheaper by at least RM 50.00 and it attracts people who want and think they are saving some $$$. Most likely these are fakes. Don't even trust the spare parts shops as they are the ones who are carrying the fake brands and usually mixed the fakes with originals and even workshops could be scamming with these spare parts shops. If you want to buy your own lube, best is to buy from petrol stations (for example Petronas, Shell, Mobil) and supermarket such as Tesco and AEON.

Pray tell how do we ensure that the engine oil is genuine?

Agreed. Used to buy Mobil from Mobil stations but they closed down.

Tesco seems to have very good offer all the time and that is where i go for my lubes.

Thanks for the heads up, i guess most people's consensus on fake lube is the same.

for example Castrol magnatec in Tesco is cheaper cos the API service classification is SL or SM, those higher ones selling at workshops is API SN
do take a look behind of the packaging to ensure its classification before purchasing. that was 2 years ago, now not sure if all engine oils has been classified to API SN.

Just hit 8k after last service and my service indicators showed "0" service. When tried to check engine oil level, the OBC says "Inactive".

Took it to Bomin for an early engine oil change and the damage is as follows: -

Revanol 5 litre full synthetic RM255.00
Original BMW oil filter RM75.00 (ok this i am not entirely happy cause it is overpriced. Boss said he insist on using this but I am not so sure about it)
Air filter RM125.00
Labout RM35.00
Oil level sensor RM255.00 (hopefully will cure the fluctuating oil level issue)

Not the cheapest but reasonable if not on the slightly higher side.

Just got my 2009 325i M-Sport's suspension parts replaced at AB Penang:

31.30.6.775.098 Guide support
31.33.6.767.333 Damper
31.33.1.094.749 Protection tube

Parts almost MYR 1,300 and labour was MYR 600.

No idea why the M-sport's guide support costs so much more!

The supports were so damaged that it would make awful sounds over every single road bump and hump! Strangely, I noticed slightly lower fuel consumption after replacing them :hmmmm:

Bob,

I believe the above parts (total 3 items) were replaced for both front right and left side. If you were to buy the parts from Bavarian Auto, the total price would be no more than RM 600.00 (OEM by Lemforder). M Sport guide support is double the price as compared to non M Sport.

Hi Guys, a motorcycle hit my E90 Side mirror (driver) at speed and now I need to replace the entire side mirror. Does anyone know how much it will cost?

brand new and used?

Got OEM?

Many thanks in advance. Lousy way to start the week...

Thanks for the advice Herbert! Yes, they were for a pair.

The price you mentioned is impressive! I did call some shops, but they never seem to have the M-Sport version. They were always recommending the non-M-Sport version. Would it be interchangeable? Just for discussions.... :)

Guys need help for shock absorbers replacement. 2009 320d msport.

Anyone knows where to get SACHS absorbers and any idea what's the price range? Is it as good as original in terms of handling or better? Ride comfort is not my first priority though.

cheers.

The ori Msport shocks costs close to 8k. Most owners resorted to Bilstein B8 for the closest feel to the Msport & slightly firmer. Thats 3.2k with installation excluding mounts etc

Thanks for the info.:) was quoted by a dealer for the flwgs:

1. SACHS for msport - front rm1100/pc, rear rm750/pc
2. OEM- front rm600/pc, rear rm 400/pc

I think the first one is way overpriced.

Gotta correct my earlier post. The ori Msport shocks (OEM by Sachs Advantage or Super Touring/Boge Turbo) costs about 4.5k (and not 8k, this could be SC price).

Gotta verify item #1 as couldn't be that cheap otherwise it's a steal

Item #2 (OEM) could be the non-Msport version hence cheaper. I suspect its the normal Boge Automatic

Oh really? item no.1 is cheap at that price? this is from puchong dealer but according to him he only has a pair of front absorbers currently. The rear one should be available in January.
What is current market price for that? Do you know?
