Occasionally erratic rpm during idling. Once in a while the engine shuts down. Error recorded p1424 dtc: secondary air injection system, bank 1 - leak detected. A common problem with e9x as stated by various foreign forums.

Cleaned air filter, checked for vacuum hose leak and cleaned the mass air flow (MAF) sensor with carburettor cleaner. So far so good after 3 days. Cost = free

All the signs were there to tell me and battery is about to go kaput. It's been over 4 years and nearing 5 years and whenever I press the start button, the car struggles to fire up. I guess it really hit me when it had to pause for a while before the car actually starts that told me that I cannot skimp on changing the battery anymore. I didnt want to be stranded somewhere where I cannot start the car. I check on the hidden menu and the voltage reading was ok. Still I didn't want to take the risk.

So I made a phone call to my usual battery supplier. I knew I was in good hand because the daughter also has a E90 but apparently she hasn't changed hers for nearly 5 years plus and going. The shop owner checked the voltage which came out fine but the Amp was on the lower side and he confirmed, much to my suspect that it was the battery. Nonetheless I took a chance. It wasn't as straightforward as the usual jap makes to remove the battery but after 45 minutes later and much sweat, the change was complete. I was told to try starting the car and WOW! IT was such a big difference. The car was practically bursting in to life. RM400 later and I was a happy man.

I took back the same battery spec (Din88) as BMW's but I was offered Din100, a more higher powered one for RM455. I didn't see the point cause I wasn't about to play with the sound system or anything. Next job is the usual oil change.

Batu Tiga, Jalan Ipoh. Battery brand is yuasa which I've used before and my battery supplier can vouch for nearly twenty years of selling it. The shop is opposite river city and along the same row as the famous mee Bon dim sum.

Thanks for the info bro. Seeing myself changing the battery sometime this year. It'll be great if you could name the shop as i'm not that familiar with that area. Cheers in advance.

The shop name is "Tam Kwong". Look out for Yuasa battery signs. Look for Mr Goh who is the owner of the shop. Its a very old shop which has probably passed its heydays but still worth a visit.

I just checked with Bavarian Auto on the battery and they quoted me RM1050.00. I mean the quality for BMW original battery is really really good but weighing up the costs and benefits, I can change two yuasa batt for the price of one BMW batt.

Atleast the oil filter was cheap at RM35.

Hope its helps Consoglieri.

Thanks bro. Generally the BMW battery are quite pricey. Hence looking at alternatives. I believe even the quoted RM1050.00 from BA is cheaper than going to authorised dealers. Let's see how the third party battery performs. Thanks bro.

All E90 members!

I have a set of carbon front splitter (for standard bumpers i.e.non-M version) to let go.

If interested, pls PM.

Consoglieri,

I don't expect third parties ones to last as long as Original stuff. I am taking a calculated risk but I would be happy if it last me two years which is about the norm for most battery now adays

Where was this done? Quite cheap. The similar job on my e90 325i was rm10xx. Hmmm.. btw whats the recommended interval for atf oil? And does the pan needs to be changed together everytime? Tq

Change atf oil and pan for e92 325i. Parts rm614.00 for 7 liters atf oil and pan. Labour rm180.00
Total cost rm794.00

Read in forums that it's good to change every 50 or 60k km. the pan itself holds the oil filter, hence need to change the pan as well. I did mine when i reached the 50k km mark.

Hi I was looking around for a good BMW workshop. I was recommended by someone to go to M1 in Segambut... Are they any good?

Bro, I go to M1 in Kayu Ara. So far so good.
You can look for Jeffrey. He's in-charge of the place.

Hope this helps.
