e39 Parts and Maintenance Cost

After 3 months driving my E39 523I decided to sent the car in to fix niggling problems and here is the damage :

Brake shimmering (upper arm bush peviously replaced) :
- Brake Disk - Front x2 (BMW) RM560


I have changed both disc from chop shop in selayang but its shown slight shimmering when braking and i suspect its because of the disc. My mechanic recomended for skimming both disc. Can it really be done with no other effets later?

I have done it bro, no issues so far..costs me around 70rm

brake discs can be skimmed but must not exceed it's minimum thickness.normally the min is stamped on the disc.

Brake shimmering can also be caused by bad upper arm bushes. No harm if you skim the disc first before moving to the next item in the process of elimination.

Yup. I changed mine used take out from half cut rm650. Damn expensive for just aircond fan

I just changed my fan belt cost RM195 and Oil separator cost RM800.
If the oil separator and the carbon fibre hosts got problem then your car might not good in acceleration.

In ebay is selling around RM350 including shipping fee. I dont know what is the price in Malaysia. But that day i really pay for RM800 to change the oil separator and few hoses.
After change the oil separator my car damn petrol save and damn powerful.
That day i been force to change oil separator at K&S due to that moment my oil separator got problem while my car at K&S. Or else i will buy from ebay and ask them to change.............heheheheheh

Can the oil separator issue be detected thru diagnostic?

Don't think it will able to throw a code in the diagnostic. However, should it fail (diaphragm inside the separator has a leak), you will encounter erratic idling and at times will want to shut down when you idle. Loss of power too when accelerating from idle.

I have this issue before but i think is not the oil separator, it is ur camshaft sensor got problem. If oil separator got problem it sounds like a car taken of the air filter.
U try to use scanner to check whether the camshaft sensor still ok or not.

Camshaft sensor is very easy to change. i bought it from ebay less then RM100 including shipping fee. If u change in workshop then will charge u RM400++ due to the camshaft is selling RM300++ in Malaysia.

Just change my front brake pad. Jurid rm150. Labour diy
