Did a scan 1.4.0 on my E39, noticed that the O2 sensors error could be cleared. However once I closed and relaunched bmw 1.4.0 and did a scan again, the O2 sensors error appears again, something like below:

DME -> D9/78 - Signal, CAN EGS, timeout elapsed
4F/74 - Oxygen sensor heater after catalyst, bank 1, open circuit
3D/74 - Oxygen sensor heater after catalyst, bank 2, open circuit
E4/B1 - Oxygen sensor controller, bank 2, deviation too great, deviation rich
Shadow-memory:
D9/78 - Signal, CAN EGS, timeout elapsed
4F/74 - Oxygen sensor heater after catalyst, bank 1, open circuit
3D/74 - Oxygen sensor heater after catalyst, bank 2, open circuit
E4/B1 - Oxygen sensor controller, bank 2, deviation too great, deviation rich
5A/12 - Exhaust temperature before catalyst, bank 1, signal line, short circuit to negative
5B/12 - Exhaust temperature before catalyst, bank 2, signal line, short circuit to negative
5D/12 - Exhaust temperature after catalyst, bank 2, signal line, short circuit to negative
85/08 - Signal, CAN ASC 3, timeout elapsed

Errors after clear:

D9/78 - Signal, CAN EGS, timeout elapsed
Shadow-memory:
5A/12 - Exhaust temperature before catalyst, bank 1, signal line, short circuit to negative
5B/12 - Exhaust temperature before catalyst, bank 2, signal line, short circuit to negative
5D/12 - Exhaust temperature after catalyst, bank 2, signal line, short circuit to negative
D9/78 - Signal, CAN EGS, timeout elapsed
85/08 - Signal, CAN ASC 3, timeout elapsed

So far I could still live with her fuel consumption, mixed driving with medium-heavy foot most of the time, averaging 12.3L / 100km. Should I spend more than 1k to fix the O2 sensors?

This is my dilemma too even my o2 sensors do not create any error code yet.

The errors only appear in BMW Scanner, if press the diagnosis button on meter cluster, no error.

Not sure if the figures below, at idle, could tell whether it's alright not to fix anything at the moment.

Bro the o2 sensor is RM350 each for pre-cat, post cat is about RM390ish , only need to change the 2 pre-cat ones, length of wire is 570mm for our E39.

The o2 sensor is degraded but still usable, BMW scanner will pick up the error but something as advanced as Autologic wont.

That is what we termed it as Preventive Maintenence. Itu pun not including the under carriage wear & tear parts like tie-rods, lower & upper arms, stabilizer bars, etc etc.

ya, hebert alawys racun-ing people toward the Eibach anti-roll-bars. wait i kena lottery then i sure buy

Good thing must share with members here. For me, stability of the car give me the confidence to push the car to its limit in times of need. Braking system, tires, suspension system (including ARB) are some of critical parts that I would not compromise.

Not need to wait for lottery strike...just put aside few hundred $$ a month will do.

Car in superb condition already and can lari fast2 right vixx..??? :)

went to Optimum, following a recommendation from fellow forummer since my regular workshop is so busy that they can't allocate a time for me since a month ago! what started with just the engine mountings ended up with a list so long that my holiday plan for end of the year is thrown out of the window :(

the parts changed :
1) engine mounting = 2xrm235
2) radiator top hose = rm153
3) front wheel bearing = 2xrm380
4) rear wheel bearing = 2xrm210
5) front upper arm bush = rm380
6) rear brake disc and pad = 2xrm380
7) wiper nozzle and hose set
8) front seat cover set

may be a bit stiff but workmanship looks good and most important thing, there are no more vibrations and a quieter ride now :D

Mick,

I am sure your ride now is more comfortable and pleasant to drive as compared to previous. Next item on your MUST DO LIST is application for Official membership.

My bill for the day...

Repairing the starter,@replacing the gear ( i dont know the exact name of the part) rm 160 with labour...

Now I'm relieved without having to spend more RM for the replacement unit.

Obermaier is ok except that the lady cashier or receptionist.. sometimes she could look so stressed that it made you feel unwelcomed and sometimes she could be so moody that you feel that you are gonna get cheated or there goes my money...ouch!

Until they can find someone to replace her Obermaier will be the last place I would go..
