hi guys,

Just change few parts for my car:

Tie rod (LH and RH from TRW) =rm230
Power strg hose (tank to cooler) =rm85
Oring + hose clip =rm13
Labour for both parts= rm93

Next action is to check the wiring for A/C fan. The fan not running when i turn on the AC.
The root causes i guess is either the wiring itself or the condenser fan motor.
Have anyone experience this? TQ

Better get that Electric Aux Fan replaced before it overheats your engine. More often than not, it's a burnt fuse or the motor itself kaput.

Wondering if anyone here has used a full set of Bosch brake discs and pads. Any comments?

These are the price for a BMW 530i in the UK, I can get full set discs and pads for front for GBP90 (RM452) and rear GBP102.95 (RM517) . Total RM969 for a Bosch brand - that didnt include the sensors.

Also I just got a quote from a BMW dealership, GBP300 (RM1500) all in, rear and front discs, pads and sensors all original BMW. Good price?

Which one would you go for? How much are these things in Malaysia? Should I buy a set here or just change it in Malaysia?

here's a list of things i replaced for my E39 528i:

Items RM
Front Brake Pad 365
Disc Rotors 320x2 640
Brake Wear Sensor 48
Rear Brake Pad 285
Brake Disc Rotor 305x2 610
Brake Wear Sensor 48

Thanks.

From this, total was RM1996 (that was October 2009, I guess price would go up a little bit by now?)

I am getting the same for RM1500 in UK. Just thinking now if I have the money...hmmmm

Also do you need the caliper kit also?

Did the below in 2 different occassion this month, anyone knows the price for ori front brake disc and pad? Am i slaugther?

E39 530i
Brake Pad ori- 560 for a pair
Brake disc ori- 580x2= 1160
labour-60
total 1780

This was thr price I paid for..
The feedback from the forum said it is "very unreasonable" . This is a workshop price and not directly fro dealer.

Looking at that...the one that I can get in UK is cheap but not that cheap..probably about the same price.

Probably just wait to do it in Msia then? How much if not ori one?

Thanks for that bro Gerald5

hello brother, the price that you quoted was for front and rear...mine is only front leh

Wah lau..........I missed the 'front only' part'. Even I would say that was very unreasonable....you got slaughtered man

Hmmmm...based on that...the ori part I'm getting is really cheap then. Have to think about this really hard..

My steering rack is leaking both sides, left and right. I need to look for rack. Cannot repair with repair kit because the shaft is scratched. Anyone know what's the current/market price please?

Changed one unit of lower arm (Lemforder) for RM 360 inclusive of labour.

I was told the recon unit is around RM 1300-1500 while new is about RM 2500

Read somewhere that try not to use the recon steering rack instead of the ori brand new one.

1. How many litres e39 525 M54 requires? 5w40 or something else?

2. What is the different between "change transmission oil" over "flush transmission oil". I just bought my e39 2 months ago and not sure about the history of the service so I would like to ensure the transmission oil is new.

3. What is recommended brake pad and how much will it cost? Should I skim the the rotor as well? If yes how much will it cost?

6.5L~7L

Change - loosen oil sump nut, let it leak due to gravity until no more is coming out and then fill new oil. You still have old oil trap inside some other places in the transmission. cheaper.

Flush - 1 inlet and 1 outlet from the machine and plug to your transmission. something like haemodialysis but you use clean oil to force the old oil out. expensive.

OEM brake pads about 200/pair. I would recommend changing to new disc(rm300+ each) if the disc is not in good condition. change the brake hoses as well.

Changed the cooling coil today. Bear in mind there's two types of coil for different year of built. Facelift (flat panel) and pre facelift (with tubes exposed). Total damage is Rm480 (Coil)+RM145(EV)+RM600(Labour) = RM1245/=.

IsaacVky,

Thanks. Do you think I should flush or change the transmission oil? I guess those who have some sticky or rough gear change will attempt to flush a transmission oil first before any other diagnostic. So far my gear change is rather smooth.

Are both pre & postlift coils priced the same? What brand is the coil? Ori?
