Hi Guys,
New to this forum. I brought back my 525i 2001 from UK. Had current leak problem after few days out from container in Port Klang. Sent to Auto Bavaria JB and replace lots of stuffs, which I think not relevant, but nvr argue with them. Cost me around RM15K altogether but problem not solved. Fed-up, send to Seong Hoe Melaka, met this Ah Swee guy and he trouble shoot the problem. And cost me only RM300+ because of the bl***y heat resister. Moral of the story, Auto Bavaria is useless and ripping me off. From then on, I only send to Ah Swee even though have to travel all the way from JB to Melaka. Long live Ah Swee (btw, his quite old, almost 50 already, but experience wise, no doubt at all).

EGS module is a electronic chip that control gear shifting for the gearbox. Mine got some small small component burned, so just repair it. cost me RM500. Now everything ok dy

My latest bill

Car ODU showed "trans failsafe prog", and it was totally out of power. Sent in to Optimum, at the same time repair the 2 front seat as it was not in totally operatinal mode. Damage as below.

Flush gear oil.
ZF ori trans fluid= 51 X 11= RM561
Flush T. Fluid using machine RM150
Auto sump gasket= RM78
FL strainer= RM160
Repair seat = 80 X 2= 160

Total = RM1066

Hope the price is fine. I am happy with the outcome. Car back to Vroom Vroom and seats are at fully operationa now.l

Thx for the greet.
The battery drained out every 3-4 days.. even after replacement of new battery (in fact 3 times by auto bavaria, under warranty), alternator, still not improved. Replace air bag mat sensor, seat belt pre-tensioner (not relevant) and some other tests charges, and services charges, towing and etc end up with ard RM15K. After replacing the heat resistor, everything back to normal. Ah Swee puts a amp meter at the battery and monitor the current flow by taking off 1 fuse at a time. When he took off aircond fuse, the current flow become static, and he took out the heat resistor, it was very hot because nvr stop running even when the engine is off.
Just came back from Seong Hoe last weekend, replace steering rack; cost ard RM1K, not so bad. I heard it is a known pblm for E39 to replace steering rack. :burnout:

Any specialist to recommend? Agree with you buying parts from SG. Fog lamp broken, BMW price RM560, SG ori BMW only S$120. What a gap! :listen:

Because of the gearbox cannot change gear all the time...Keep using 3rd or 4th gear all the way. So send to mech, he found out it's EGS module gone, so he send it to somewhere n fix it.

Y814YOA & bmw 7833,
bro,
Yes, E39 steering rack is infamous for its leaking. New ones cost about RM 2500k while re-con ones between RM 1200-1500. I "repaired" mine for RM 500.
