I measured by bulbs yesterday, its 25mm in length. And i never get the brightness from the picture bmw7833 posted earlier. I suppose i have to changed my HID bulbs. Btw, my current HID is korean made.

I am curious why my headlight shoot so downward?

Is this picture on low beam or high beam. from the picture the car on the right number plate is brightly light up. IMHO, this is glaring to the oncoming traffic.

Low beam, bro.

It this the light profile of your car?

How about shining on the wall? say 2 to 3 cars away.

No no, that's not my car. I am satisfy if my car shoot like that.

it's easy to check the head light level. find a level carpark facing a wall.. Drive the car as close as possible right up to the wall. Switch on the low beam and mark on the wall where the light level are on both sides. (Can also mark the center of the light beam to see later whether the beam is pointing straight ahead or not. )
Then reverse the car for about 1 - 2 car length and see if the light level now. It should be close to mark.. If it's to far above the light, it'll glare oncoming cars. If it's too low, can't see far loh...

Have fun... BTW, best to go to basement car park... In most basement car park, it'll be flat surface and can find suitable spot for this light test.

It could be due to broken headlight adjuster mechanism.

I know my right side adjuster is broken and i am trying to replace it.

Left side adjuster is ok but still shoot downward.

My adjusters have all been fixed. Using Korean HID with their original 4K bulb. Because my original is H7, I had to sacrifice the bulb holder by cutting a hole nicely so that the HID bulb's wire can come out and connect to the ballast. My HID bulb sits on the bulb holder nicely and the bulb markers must follow the bulb holder's marker as well. Keep in mind bulb holder has an indicator that your bulb must follow. My installer used some type of glue, super hard, once dry become like plastic to make sure the marker is aligned, facing up. This usually is the problem where the beam is too low, bulb not sitting nicely (assume everything else is fine)

Hi Jaleeks, my process is exactly the same as yours. cutting, gluing ,markers, etc. By the way, can you advise which part is facing up ? A or B ? (If it does makes any difference)

champion see this.. if you have to modify your base, then your bulb is not correct. Correct HID bulb for H7 equivalent is available.

H7 bulb holder is easy to find for E39. However, if we use after market HID, no bulb holder at all. I tried looking for the original HID bulb holder, can't find it so far, so modify the existing H7 holder.

bro, when you buy the HID kit, the HID bulb holder should come along with the kit. You should specify that it is for H7 bulb not just some generic HID bulb. Then it is just palin "plug and play".

Look at the bulb holder, there is a marker. If the bulb marker and the holder's marker are aligned, make sure the holder is sat in properly to the headlamp's body, wire connector portion facing upwards and make sure none of the legs' of the holder is broken. There is 3 legs to make sure the holder fits nicely. If the holder's legs are broken, change holder. this is my personal experience, with broken legs and no matter how you try to adjust, focus is not there. Somehow, I think the holder ensures the bulb is in the centre of the projector's lense. Now, with new holders and properly sat in, it looks good. Broad enough, far enough. Also take note don't compare brightness between projector and reflector, totally different. If you ask me, I prefer my highbeam reflectors, much brighter and more intense compared to my projector, even though highbeam is on ori H7. Will try to take photo and upload to show how my beam is at night.

Yupe. jarance is right, the bulb holder should come with the HID kit.

Funfer, i think most of the accessory shop can seek for u the holder easily.

here is a comparison of a original H7 halogen bulb and H7 HID bulb. if the base shape is different, then the HID bulb is generic type.
