got stranded more than 10 times.in the middle of busy road..thank god they have tow trucks..

Ha Ha Ha....this is something a lot of UDMers with 5-10 years old bimmers are familar with. NO CONFIDENCE. but once your UDM went past 15th year, it's sweet sailing all the way. believe it man.

Allo Matasura....Mak Bapak kaya ke?...kalau Mak Bapak orang susah...tak payah lee dulu....bantu le keluarga mana yang patut...its payback time!!!!

hi matasura, my advice is to get myvi ^_^

im also a fresh graduate. after college, my dad bought me a used satria 1.6, coz im a big fan of old satria model.

to be honest, im a bit dissapointed, i should never go for a used car, bcoz lots of things need to be done for my car... i just change my gearbox from auto to manual tranny, cost me rm1900. b4 this, i swap my auto gearbox 3 times...!!! currently saving money to change my tyre, suspention also need to be change, new paint job, tinted. i already spend like 3-4K on repairing only, thank god my dad paid 4 some of it (i really should go for halfcut b4)... summore, i dont earn much every month... about 60% of my income all go straight to my car, my girlfriend even jelous at my car aheheehh. if i earn like 3K per month, then different story la :p

im not saying used car is bad... just that, lots of things need to be done... if u're lucky, u'll get a good used car.

hi my advise is if u want buy a bimmer prepare to pay for it. mine is a 318 1997 model . i drive about 5000-6000 km monthly. petrol about 1000-1500 monthly. in 5 months i already spend 8000.00. CAR INSTALLMENT 750.00. i travel around malaysia alot. still got things to do ,. so on average i spend around 3000.00 monthly ++ for car alone. but my maintanance is high because extreamly heavy usage- jungle roads, felda roads, all roads lah .so is it worth all the money spend?

definitely yes. i enjoy driving it , once i reach highway i'll 4 sure do 180 kmh, and winding roads is my favourite i'm addicted on taking corners in high speed . get one u will enjoy it
my advise to you is get one

minyak mahai, pakai kete economical je skang ni. la ni semua naik. astro naik, tepung naik, umur naik...apa benda tak naik? GAJI. hehehe. beemers are nice to have, plus it's a babe magnet. but if it's gonna burden u later on...stick to myvi. ye tak laneza?

hahaha it makes me suffer to maintain as my cash "finish paid the car cash money"...waaaaaa..kumpul balik duit :D..but super nice car

yeah.
ma mak pak not jenis kaya one...

so its goin to be me to cover all those expenses....

rite now masih terkapai2...

...mine is still available as the first & only owner...

...fuel consumption, about 440 KM, on full tank city driving, but between 560 - 610 KM , full tank long distance (KL - JB or KL - Ipoh), speed dependent on traffic congestion, of course...

...driving at speeds of 160 - 180 KM per hour without issues for this 4 cylinder UDM, stock model...

...but it's just a few kilometres above the 150,000 kilometre mark, AB serviced as always & there's nothing to be done...just plug 'n play, really !...

Many young fresh grad have $$$$ from their rich busy parent.. Not many of us have that opportunity when we are in our 20iesh

man! 100% agree with you man! some guys are lucky to enter their life fully supported. i just worked like dog to be where i am rite now...:) now i own a couple of cars dat i love with my hard earned money...feels so great ehhehehe....yeahhhh!!!:D :D :D

Actually i'm looking for e36 also.. guest what i'm using now?? and 1983 e21 323i!! and i just gread last year..:stupid::stupid: crazy rite?!!

This e21 is a real BMW (b'yak m'kan wang, b'yak m'suk w'shop...whatever la), i had spanned a lot on it after i work... i also think about to change a proton / produa car also but already 1.5 yr after working d stil driving the sharky UDM... why?? you gonna know it after you own 1... after you drive this monster, you are not able to give up on it even though you had been suffered by the maintenance cost and the petrol consumptions. but you will know what is so call enjoy driving.. and i love my e21 even though it already very old and needs many many repairs.

For advice, if you ready then just get what you 1... if still choosing then just pick a Myvi..good in terms low maintenance and petrol saver..

hehe im 19 and my dad gave me a proton savvy in 2005, my target is 96-97 e36 328i, not too expensive at +-RM40k, but when maintaining and paying rm1600 roadtax sure bising one...and fuel consumption

to update,
rite now I'm working in a factory here in bayan lepas...
income, just like most of the fresh grad...

if i wanna get a e36 318i, probably need to spend rm700 permonth for loan, petrol might be around rm300, and the total will be rm1k permonth. luckily right now still living with my family, no need rumah sewa yet.

still need to consider..
isk...

Hi Matasura

Have a friend like you at my work place. Fresh grad with the ultimate passion and he is in this forum too. He saved a lot when he caught up with us like 2 weeks after buying his E36. No doubt he had to spend on his car coz it is a 10 years E36 but at least his head is not being chopped and he is paying value for money. Myvi is a good car from several perspectives but defintely not the same league as E36. I don't think it is an apple to apple comparison. If you choose Myvi, "its a passion", don't be bothered about prices and technicalities. E36 ... it's a "UDM".

Driving BMW. There are a lot kedai who really want to chop BMW drivers head. A few years ago, my bro kena kapak with exorbitant prices for parts coz he was new to the nothern region. Now that he knows where to go, he is pretty taken care off.

So, moral of the story is, understand what you are getting into, commit to your decision and be a smart and well informed buyer or user. We are 30 minutes from Penang and factory workers too. Need, any help, you can give us a buzz.

planta

thanks planta for the good advice..
the reason why i compared myvi and e36 is because the price...

right now almost 2 months as a factory worker...
still need save up more!

MY IDEA BRO,,,,,JST AN IDEA...THINK ABT TIS ,,I LOVE PPL TAT LOVE A BIMMER,,1ST buy a kancil 1st rm 6 to 7 k budget CAR,, u stil hav 40k left,,, go 4 95 manual timming chain, good car less promblem,,buy 318i 2nd car always check the water pump n the radiator, whether is reailble!! then buy but every 2 day check the water level for 3months,if u need more info how to take care of tiis car,n need cheap n good labour wit good cheap spare parts,i can instruct u bro!!! why take a kancil, cause u can learn the bimmer slowly n drive 3times aweek,,if anythings prom,,u got a 2nd car,,kancil r cheap n easy maintain, do u understand wat i m saying...need more info PM me but next 2days i m not around ,,harap maklum,,wELCOME YO BIMMER WORLD,,I EMBRACE U BRO.even the forum mmbrs regards.tq d

Bro,

To buy E36 or not is depends on many factors. No doubt BMW is a great car but since ur just graduated just buy cheaper maintainence car first eg kancil. Save money for 2 years from now. On year 2009 u can get yr 1999 E36 which is still under 10 yrs old (easier loan). I got mine when I was 32 yrs old & now after 2 yrs owning it I spent bout 35k for mods & maintainence:burnout: . But I never regret it as its my passion and every second driving its a priceless experience. My advice dun waste time & money playing wt proton & japs if u really interested in BMW. BMW is not cheap even for older model. If u buy BMW put big downpayment so that smaller installment. Hence u have xtra cash to maintain it. Spare bout 10k as emergency purpose. Finding good used E36 would be a nightmare experience. If ur lucky u just mite found good one.
