Hi, I'm newbie here and I'm not owning a BMW but about to have one. I would like to ask you all here which have a lot of experience on cars especially BMW. Which one I should buy, a 2nd hand 1994 318i or a brand new Proton Waja Campro. My budget is only RM1000 a month. If I bought Waja, with RM10000 d/payment, I need to pay RM550++ for 9 years. Plus, I got 2 years warranty. So I got no worries. One of my friend wanna sell his 1994 318i for RM46k++. I know him very much and he take a good care of his car. A whole set of new ori disk brake. Leather seats. 17 rims. New back Suspensions. My sallary is only RM2k a month + sometimes got own bussiness with Rm1K profit.

pls make sure u willing to spend time to go workshop

also got $$ extra for car repairing

but think think PROTONG also will give same problem also

aikss

welcome to the club.

based solely on your story, i wud suggest the new waja......unless you plan to postpone your wedding :D

No matter how good the condition of that E36 now, some wear&tear will be expected sooner or later, remember it's a 14-year old car.

I hate myself for having to say this but, with your condition, get a Waja. There, i said it. Seriously, with 2k a month, don't get a beemer, even the modifcation will kill you.

Based on my experience owning a 10 yrs low mileage 318, since u gonna get married, my advise buy waja lahh. U need more money for ur wedding than the car. Owning a used bmw definitely need to put some money at initial stage. Unless u are willing to drive a noisy bmw. Once settle down wt ur wedding than think abt car. juz dun want to see u carrying a lot of credit card debt for repairing ur bmw after marriage.

Buy good 'used' Wira year 2002 onward, your maintainence and problem will be less.. or just maintain your current car... Keep $$$ for 2 years then buy BMW.. :D

agree with this ;)

Little bit flattered with all the advises. I tot everyone keep racuning to own UDM.

I agreed with all the suggestions. Save ur money bro.

Ur UDM will come later. Who knows rezeki anak!

What if I already have the budget for wedding. If I buy a Wira, I'm afraid that someday when I want to sell it, no car dealer want to take it. There are so many 2nd hand Wira nowadays.

I got "lubang" that a BMW mechanic want to sell his 1994 318i. Worth to take or not.

Normally, what are the normal tear after more than 10 years.

If I buy new Waja, it takes me to 9 years. It seems that I won't be able to drive a BMW. Pity...

:D Get a newer udm. dont buy waja. I've own one.
Since u r the type that dont change car.
Now udm price is cheap. Since u hv intention to own udm go get it bro.
Dont be like me. Just get 4 pots n timing chain engine.
U r welcome to pm me for my hp

If money is top concern, do not buy a bimmer. For a 12 yr old car, there is a good chance of developing major problem.

And major problem for a bimmer will easily cost you thousands.

On the other hand, my experience with Waja has not been good either.

I would rather go for MyVi or second hand Toyota/Honda.

It jus a matter of luck.. if your lucky the car don't give you much problem or vice versa.. Since you have 'lubang' then take la..

FYI car dealer will take wira, waja, kancil, kenari, BMW, and so on... only the price that they offer is the issue..

just buy waja...dun think too much...if not you'll regret :D
agree agree...no headache...
enjoy driving...smell good and everything new... :)

I personally have no experiece with the waja but have a few friends who do, unfortunately, own wajas and they have nothing but complains! Bear in mind though that theirs are NOT the Campro version, so...

In any case, thinice is right, a 1994 E36 is a no-go, no matter how tempting it is to own yr first beemer! The wrong beemer may put you off beemers forever!

Wajas new or otherwise are not exactly problem-free. Wajas do not seem to wear/last very well. Many 2001-2002 models that I have seen have deteriorated quite badly through no fault of the owners. The rate of wear seems higher than Japanese and Continental cars.

Anyway, a new Waja costs RM20k more than the used 318i that you are looking at. That RM20k saving should be enough to fix or repair the 318i, assuming it needs that.

And the Campro engine is a new in-house design, not Mitsubishi's. As such, it's reliability is unknown.

u cant use that argument...he's not buying the car cash

in terms of monthly instalment, shud be about the same for both cars, but maintenance will be the major issue. No matter how bad the waja is, it will still be new and it has 2-yr warranty!

BMW is "the ultimate Driving Mechine".
Depend on your budget but for BMW car is Big Money Waste.
I think New waja is better due to that car have warranty, but if you buy 2nd hand BMW E36 you must spend extra money for maintenance.
If hali-hali Bawak Masuk Workshop tarak guna ma.......
  Batter buy E60 or E90 that is Nice and powerfull car.......
