Greetings Oil burners,I'd like to call out to those who recently bought, installed and used DTUK CRD-T on their Ds. I need some help with deciding on Vector/RaceChip/DTUK. Pretty much heard all I needed to hear about Vector and RaceChip.Any one care to throw in their 2 cents worth of experience with the product? Better still, comparison between these products?thank you all in advance & happy thursday.

Yo bro, i've upgraded into DaTUK-ship, and have been a satisfied user since installing many moons ago.
here's what i posted as a description into the group buy section when a bunch of us were getting sets:

crdtbannerCustom.jpg

This is the set that a few of us here have already installed, which is the CRD-T. Compared to others I've seen, this set has a multi channel feature, which means that it not only connects to the common rail pressure sensor, but also to the turbo pressure sensor (see pic below). The result - smoother power delivery, more power/torque & fuel economy! You get 4 different hp/torque curve maps, and 7 boost settings, which give you 28 combination for your tweaking pleasure, hehe. DTUK costs a little more compared to the other tuning boxes, but it's well worth it for the advanced user who wishes to tweak and customise settings to suit their styles and occasions.

The CRD-T can be installed on all N47D20 BMW diesel engines, and those who've installed can't live without their sets now. You know who you are - no names mentioned, haha!

Read more about the CRD-T on the link : DTUK CRD-T webpage here

Also, there was a healthy discussion about DTUK after i dyno-ed and shared my maps. Read all about it in the posts here.

Here's my dyno result for sharing :4:

Mafulat,

I was probably the first DTUK user in Malaysia, earlier than vector/racechip/powerkit users, I started checking it out around Oct 2010 and bought it soon after.

I had several requirements in mind, first was I wanted the "best" technology for the car. Second was decent support. In terms of technology, an ECU remap was probably the best way to go but with the encrypted ECU for the new N47 engines that was out of the question. The next option were tuning boxes, DTUK then had 2-channel tuning box technology that adjusted both turbo and fuel on the engine. DTUK wasn't the only one obviously but the support from Andrew on the forums particularly the UK ones were exemplary which is why I ended up buying the DTUK. I've had it for more than a year already and have been very happy with the unit and the support from the guys here and in the UK.

I've tried the DTUK, Vector and Powerkit back to back. The end result is the same obviously, the car goes faster. What still kept me with DTUK was the options available on the same tuning box. Map 3 for low end torque and map 4 for top end power. When I used Euro-4 diesel from singapore for example, Map 1 and 4 did not show much of an improvement, but Map 3 gave the same low end boost but the engine ran much much smoother. The DTUK is just technically more advanced with more options for you as a user and owner. With the new diesel engines from BMW DTUK now has even more advanced options but I think we can't use this yet until we get Euro-5 diesel.

Hope this helps. Join our TT and talk to the users directly one evening.

Some swear by DTUK( like me) :p , some swear by Vector.. :p
we all choose the one we think is best, and do not want to regret our choice... However, i choose my pick from known product which have been tested by many-many identical car like mine.. DTUK is being used in the Europe by E46 and E90 320d and also the 5 series for a looong time.. and i read no negative history. Our car not cheap ler, and i dont mind paying a little premium for known product used, tested and proven by many..... dont want to have trouble with my car leh....
i choose the one that give me plenty of setting options.. so i can choose the one i feel good for my driving style..map 3 is awesome..!!
i want hi-tech, since 2 channel is available, i go for this.. just like buying new Samsung phone lah, having quad core and dual core, i'll go for quad core.. :p
But in the end, the car goes faster.... and it is sure fun to drive... :) MUCCCH better than stock... trust us..... we know.. ;P

hows the performance for the DTUK so far? just curious will this void your warranty? how do you bring your car in for service?

besides this, what is the difference betweek DTUK and the authorizied BMW diesel power kit? i was told that authorizied BMW diesel power kit has extra cooler and new system installed.

i was informed by a bmw dealership boss that some use thirdparty powerkit and caused alot of problem. any take on this? thanks guys

DTUK is more of a tuning system or a software upgrade which increases the turbo boost etc.

Power kit is more of a combination of software and hardware upgrade. They provide you a new ECU with upgraded software tied to your car’s VIN number, as well as a bigger intercooler, a more powerful 600W electric fan, a new fan frame and a new plastic air guide. As this is an official BMW product, so your warranty will be intact.

You can stack up both upgrades to become a "supercar" with tons of torque to play with :4:

DTUK is just a small quick box fitted to change the fuel pressure and mapping to tune the engine to specific characteristic of the car. They have 4 modes and 7 intensity of each mode. and cost less than 2K. Can be sold or reprogammed to fit other type of car. Meaning this investement can be recovered with residual value. Can be removed when sending car in for servicing :) no probs....

The powerkit by BMW is a total ECU replacement with different map, and also repalcement of intercooler, and fan. This is to increase the amount of air, by cooling the intake air further, so air become more dense. This one cost 9k now, if i am not mistaken. The ECU cant be re-sold to other user, you are stuck with it, and the other hardwares can be sourced at a cheaper rate. However, the powerkitted is installed by BMW and it comes with all the waranty and bells and ribbons.

Many have tested it and found DTUK offered us best value for money. Not over spending and yet get more excitment in comparison....!! and this DTUK it is a proven product used in UK and Germany by many-many cars similar like ours without prob.. i'll pay for the peace of mind and reliability.. R&D cost alot leh....we dont want hassle and trouble mah.. we want to drive n enjoy..!!!!

Cheers..!!

kong, do you have a DTUK yourself? you bought it off website and fix it yourself? does the engine sound louder? and hows the FC after putting up the DTUK? and you mentioned that it has 4modes and 7 intensity, how do i choose these settings? or you have to fix one setting on the DTUK manually at the box?

im thinking of investing in this cheaper method but am afraid it will alter the engine performance significantly if i decides to remove it in the future.

thanks anyway for all your feedback. appreciate it. :D

hey bro, all of us here love messing around with our dtuk's. installing, tweaking and enjoying it ourselves is all part of the fun! no change in engine sound, and FC actually improves if your driving style remains the same (power/weight ratio improvement). best part is that turbo lag disappears! it takes no more than 15mins to install/remove the box, and the change of settings can be done in 5mins.

anyways, if you wanna get in touch with DTUK, you can always send them an email at: malaysia@diesel-performance.co.uk they're usually prompt in replying.

come join us for minum minum, and you can see it in person. beware, lots of poison in the diesel catchups :4: you have been warned.

woik..!! Maniac..! why you answer for me?? Logicdy, the Maniac fella answered everything dy.. 15 minutes??!! he tipu lah... can be done like in 2 minutes..!! no joke bro, i swear..!! haha..!!

Do come join us for tt.. :) we tell you secret there... and you'll know your current car is actually underperforming .. :)

Hi all diesel gurus, just got my cdr-t today. Mind to share any information about the mapping details? Cheers

Datuk mikeyC, congrats on your datukship award!
map 3's my favourite, for city driving. superb low end torque, which takes away the turbo lag.
map 4 has the highest power curve, and in my opinion is nice for longer distance driving, where you can enjoy the power delivery and stretch to higher revs

Guys, can I find out whether the installation of DTUK will eliminate the turbo lag effect I have on my F30 320D. Everytime I press hard on the pedal the car will take probably about 1 second before it surges ahead. I find this annoying and wish to have a more instant pull. I am not sure whether DTUK can help solve my predicament. Any views?

definitely DTUK will do the trick.even other chip units as well.
but if lag is your only concern, might want to try the PedalBox first

Thanks... How much does the DTUK cost (including installation) anyway?

Altogether will cost; DTUK 400 pounds and Pedalbox 200 pounds. Better check the site http://www.diesel-performance.co.uk/ for latest pricing.

I myself am a happy as heck DTUK PB combo user, thanks to Maniac. In short putting both together with the right settings, your throttle pedal will become essentially an on off switch. Power on. Power off. A hint of lag but greatly reduced.

If the cost of the DTUK is a tad high, try the Racechip. Got a few fellas using that to great effect as well.

But bang for buck, the PB will have a greater "butt dyno" effect.
