Passat CC is a great car.. but that does meant CKD E90 is junk by comparison. Maybe it's an enforcement to his decision that he bought the "right" car, and everyone else bought a wrong car.. :p :D Interesting self affirmative character..

And I find few Passats owner actually has this same interesting character. They like to compare how much more they get for about the same price compare to E90. And they also agree both car is not even in the same segment. :stupid: For the sake of comparison, they just pick E90 due to the same price range. They should compare to Skoda, SAAB and the like.. :D

These folks buy car base on accessories check list.

Oh.. the Passat cc is not even a 5-seater. 4-seater Family sedan. Interesting customer profiling..

Firstly he is comparing CKD to CBU, where to him CKD is junk relatively speaking.

Perhaps you are also over reacting la.

Actually some BMW owners also have similar character, and come to think of it many also like to have a bargain when it comes to purchasing a car and hence we all ask for freebies like tinting, accessories and some even a full tank of petrol.

Everyone has an opinion and generalizing is bad, I am sure okow has his own reasons for buying a passat cc. And for the money it's a damn good car whether compared to Skoda, Audi or BMW, only thing it's FWD which is a no no for me :)

Cheers

Cool.. I've always liked the new Passat CC with DSG and thought that the 4 seater arrangement hinders it from being a good buy.But with the option of having 5 seats,I think the Passat CC is probably the best specced euro sedan that u can buy today for the price that VW is asking.

Congrats:wink:

Had this car been available earlier this year,I might not have bought my 335i,instead I'd would've gone for the Passat CC with DSG and 5seats.

Seriously Super 'Scooby" gripen? :) Didn't think you'd go for a FWD!

IMO, the Passat is not in the same space with the Merc and BMW. It's competing with other high-end FWD saloons like it's brother Audi, the Swedes, French and Italians. In that space, it's the current benchmark without a doubt.

The VW Passat CC is waayy down on the list. Meanwhile go test drive the rest and determine the "feel" for yourself.

The 325i has a smooth 2.5L straight six. You pay more for roadtax compared to the other 2.
The C250CGI has plenty of torque (now turbo instead of kompressor). But colour selection and delivery dates is a pain.
The Quattro is 4WD - thats something the other 2 doesnt have. Want to be different? Go for this.

My sincere apologies to all Audi FANs....... Although the car is great I would suggest not to take it as waiting list and after sales services sucks!!!!!! Really... if you insist on Audi cars.. do more research on their services... get feedback from audi owners and not the tech guy or sales guys there....

Seriously:wink:

I did consider the Golf GTi mk6,the 320d and some other models as well.At the time, the Passat CC didn't come into the pic as it was offered with a conventional 6sp auto and 4seater arrangement.Thing is,though I love RWDs,I also have a deep respect for good FWD cars.So it didn't bother me much since I've drive/owned cars of all drive configs,FWD,RWD and AWD.

Anyways,no need to look back as fate has brought me the 335i,can't ask for a better outcome:burnout:

since you originally planned for Silvia+Mk6 gti, your current 335i not overworked ar?

PassatCC with 5 seater and DSG is full of win.

Not at the moment as I rarely get to drive nowadays, always working.

On the plus side,I get the best of both in one car with the 335i,hence saving myself on running costs and garage space. My wife doesn't work and I have company transport so we only really need one car.

The downside of this against having the originally planned S15R+Mk6 GTi is that with just the 335i,I don't have a seperate track car/play car that I can tune to my heart's desire without having to worry about comfort and daily useability. On hindsight,a Passat CC DSG 5seater and an e30 M52B28 supercharged would be quite nice wouldn't it?

I find it hard to think how those would be better than your 335i all round.

Drove the Passat CC. Was impress with the hp it had but then its a front wheel drive therefore the illusion is its always more powerful compared to the rear wheel cousins. Was overwhelm with the knobs and steel furnishing but it reminded me more of a car from Korea rather than from Germany. It was not luxurious nor was it elegant. Tacky and cheap was more like it.

The rear seats looks like something from the Alfa Romeo in 1980. Rigid and outdated. The Lada scores more points for interior elegance and comforlabtiity.

Driving was a pleasure with lots of power under the hood but lacks the grunt. Handling was easy. Oversteer was noticeable so was the ability to rev at nearly 8500rpm. Guess if you chip it and change the flow of air intake it would be able to rev as high as 9300rpm.

Otherwise I'll pass

I'm thinking to change my E90 320i to Golf GTI Mk6... any comments & suggestions on this move?

Somehow, the grass always seems greener on the other side...even for myself (sometimes it does cross my mind). But one thing I realised is, no doubt the e90 320i only has 156HP and 200NM of Torque, the near 50:50 weight distribution, the rear wheel drive feel, the precise neutrality of the steering feel coupled with the quite revvy 4pot engine.... I still think the 320i is still a very rewarding car to drive as it is a very capable and quite enjoyable.

As for the Golf GTi Mk6, its front wheel drive, nose heavy, extremely torquey... (200HP with 280NM of torque with the newly improved DSG gearbox)...its a different car. Its very nice by itself. So I would not compare it with an e90.

Albeit the very torquey VW range of cars (Passat CC /Golf CTi and the likes), with all due respect (I do love these cars, mind you), but they are still one notch lower than a BMW and not of the same league. THe only issue for us as Malysians is that the price bracket are very similar to the bimmers, thats the only similarity....

But of course, in terms of handling (btwn passat cc and Golf GTi), it has to be GTi anytime. The Passat CC is still too soft and nose heavy when you take sharp corners.

I am still a rear wheel drive advocate, if there is a choice, try to keep your e90 320i and work towards getting the GTi as a fun zippy torquey mean machine..... Good Luck in your quest, ...Go where not many has the privillege to go.... Remember this, a bimmer is always known as the UDM since yesterday, today and hopefully forevermore.... :)
