yea... in Europe... unless it's project team car, otherwise, most of our company cars are BMW/Merc..... few of us will rotate our cars to have different feel, just make sure we rotate it together with the right fuel card together with the car keys....

Morganl, just randomly sharing a thought here. How about a used W203 C 32 AMG? 4 door and pretty comfortable in compare to e46 M3, not very expensive at this time. But its used nevertheless....

Just a thought sometimes that having a brand new 320d can get u a used M3....its quite a vast difference of driving pleasure BUT maintenance is a different story. Just finding it hard to buy a brand new car these days...my humble opinion with my limited low income. Of course, for people who earn enough, why not.

I'm a bit 'old fashion' like Schwepps..... so far I have yet to buy a used car b4 simply because of the virginity issue... :) but I do agree with you on this.... it's getting harder & harder to buy a brand new car these days in Malaysia....

All my BMWs are used... just can't justify paying the crazy prices that new cars command these days, and indeed,it is more and more difficult to buy good cars nowadays, especially new ones.
I find myself having to move down the model line if I were to buy new.

I had a short run with a VW Passat CC last week along Karak-Kuantan Highway westbound from Lanchang to Karak Toll, at night.

The CC was noticeably slower at the bend but could keep up with my E90 325i on the straight. i was at "quite" high speed on the gentle uphill stretch just before the Karak toll and I could see his xenon lights glaring just behind me. Impressive stuff for a car costing almost RM50-60k less. I was looking for a bit more fun after the Karak toll as the roads are more winding, but lost him after the toll. Pity.

But those round rear lights do not look very appealing at night, very Korean-ish!

Don't they look pretty similar? Same kimchi round light cluster? :)

Some of the GTI owners had changed the rear lights to Golf R's ones, which look miles better!

wah uncle.......dun bully people lar!

Walked into a Proton showroom this morning to kepoh the newly launched Inspira. Looks strangely like a Lancer GT! :D RM91k only...the real Lancer owners will be crying from the association...and depreciation.

The Golf GTI almost suffered the same fate. May still happen if rebadged by another 'national' car company. So buy at your own risk.

Some internal proton source said that proton folks managed to nego with Mitsubishi for a good price, hence, it comes with the paddle shifts, same as the Lancer GT CBU from Japan. To top it off, apparently the first batch are all from Japan minus the front grille & bumper and steering logo....so Lancer GT owners definitely will feel it.

As for Golf owners, pray hard that VW AG won't allow DRBHicom to assemble GTI's or to rebadge them....but then again, Malaysia Boleh....look at how Nasim Automobiles managed to do with the French marque...Proton with Mitsu....and the list goes on.... :(

You can count on more rebadging, not less. That's the new policy direction to bring in the foreign marques and investments without losing (killing) our national and GLC auto companies. Even Berjaya is getting into the act.

PS: Yup, paddle shifts. RM91k.

The Srirocco and Golf 1.4TSi will be all assembled in PM's home town, Pekan.

If it's so difficult to remove the protectionist measures and rebadging is one way to go about it, then so be it!! :)

Ya bro, on one hand i understand where you r coming from, on the other, pity our buddies who bought them earlier as they will be P*^^ed bigtime... And the typical symptom may follow suite eg, crappy customer service, poor service quality, technician know nuts about the parts he's replacing/repairing, etc...etc...

I read that VW mentioned that they will CKD models which are currently not in the Malaysian market today. So both the Scirocco 1.4Tsi and Golf 1.4tsi should still be CBU.

The 1.4tsi equipped cars will be locally assembled. This is widely reported when the 1.4tsi engines were launched.

Well, here is the link to VW's press statement..

http://my.volkswagen.com/etc/medial...ent.Par.0141.File.pdf/statement_by_vgm_on.pdf

"Suffice it to say, the models / variants in negotiations to be locally assembled will not be the models which are currently offered in Malaysia."

This was as of 20 Sept 2010 when both Golf 1.4Tsi and Rocco 1.4 Tsi were already being offered as CBUs.

Yup I read that before. The VW offerings at present moment is almost the complete line up. If they not going to assemble these popular offerings, then what will
be assembled? Jetta? ;)

An insider told me the ckd price will remain as it is. We will find out very soon:)

Ya, I remember paultan did report this news on Sept 21, 2010. Here's a caption of it...

"There has been much excitement, and speculation, since the announcement that Volkswagen has signed an MoU with DRB-Hicom to locally assemble cars at the latter’s Pekan plant. Everyone has their guesses (some incredibly sure) on the identity of the three models, but thanks to a statement from Volkswagen Group Malaysia (VGM), we now know that the list WILL NOT include models currently sold in Malaysia."

Here's the link for your reading pleasure...
http://paultan.org/2010/09/21/volks...ill-not-include-variants-currently-sold-here/

The statement is from Volkswagen Group Malaysia? The same guys who are pushing the Passat CC on us without telling us that 2010 is the last model year for the US market in favour of a new midsized model to be introduced 2011? Uh huh, right...

The only thing that's for sure right now is that the Hicom VWs won't have 'Lotus-engineered suspensions' like the Inspira. Whooooo! :24:
