Bro,

Sorry for the early morning tirade. They are still my pet peeve.

Cheers

Hi Bro Saat,

No worries bro, thanks for pointing it out to me - like I said, I learn something new every day at these forums, and you've just proven that. I think I'll give 3M Crystalline Tint a try for my incoming F13 - but I don't know if it'll look as dark as the present V-kool (despite the FUGLY cut-out). I want something that will be dark, but legally so - I know certain tints out there are super dark, but it'll cost me demerit points.

Like what bro Astroboy said, perhaps the choice is not about the best 'defense' all the time, but the whole overall package - the color, the metallic effect etc. Pity about the stupid cut-out & the way the film interferes with IR transmission though.

Peace, bro :)

Bro Wobbles,

I have 3M cyrstalline tint on my F10.
So did my friend who has a Deep Sea Blue E90.

For me, the heat rejection is pretty good, My E90 V kool also did the job quite well for the past 4 years and show no sign of failing..

For SG, Crystalline comes in 10, 70 and 50% VLT
10 is literally clear, 70 is blueish hue and 50 is more dark choc looking...

you can check out my car when I am back before you decide for your f13

Bro CK318ci - happy honeymoon, bro! Thanks for the clarification. I'm very interested in the blueish tint 70% - but will that be LTA compliant? I think we can only allow 30% tint for our front windscreen yah? Thanks for the offer of checking out your ride - WILL DEFINITELY DO SO!

No greenish 3M, blueish will look good on a Merc with light grey interior, very classy. I'll definitely do this for my Merc if I have one.

I prefer greenish tint for my black/black BMW because that's good for the vision, less tired for long distance drive.. :48:

bro saat,

TSER - Total Solar Energy Rejection
3M (Crystalline) 19-68%
3M (Ceramic) 59.00%
EcoTint (Ray Barrier) 58-64%
Huper Optik (X-T50) 29.00%
Huper Optik (Perf 3) 54.00%
V-Kool (Elite) 55.00%

wonder why the range for 3M (Crystalline) is so wide?

IMHO, V-kool is all about branding. Felt hotter than other cheaper brands. My personal experience.

My Llumar Diamond is greenish in colour. i would prefer darker but forced to accept the max under jpj guideline.

Dangerous drink driver!!!!!

expressions bro...in reality its rare to catch someone drinking in the car while driving...

Ok. i guess all tints has its pros and cons. But if i have too, i will put the light black ones, cheap and good....and so illegal.

Actually, this thread has been quite enlightening for me, personally. Bro saat's statistics are certainly food for thought, and I'm definitely going to try out a different tinting company for my F13 when I take delivery of it next year. So far, apart from the fugly cut-out that my present F02 suffers, I've had no complaints about the V-kool - but since there are superior films out there that allows me to do withOUT the cut out, I would be a fool not to try them :)

I have taken saat's adamant point of view that vkool is crap when i was choosing my tint. Now using 3M crystaline, so far so good.

I had Vkool Elite on my Civic 2006, more than 5 years of ownership, no problem with smart tag, auto-gate, heat rejection is satisfactory. Car's since been sold to a fellow BCM member.

When I want to tint my UDM, went to enquire in several auto-accessory shop, they'd start with 3M, Huper Optik, Llumar...etc but never promote V-Kool to me, wonder why.

Both my UDM's on darker tint since few months ago, Huper Optik Ceramic 40. No problem with anything or anyone so far. Heat rejection is satisfactory.
