Hi Saat, so sorry to hear abt what happen to you. If I recall in 2009 I changed my tints to solargard at Tint Shop, Taipan. Sometime later when i tried to change one of the stickers on the front windscreen, tak boleh keluar. Went back to them, they took it out at no charge but then the film on that portion also came out. After a short discussion with the lady boss, she agreed its a warranty claim and they changed the flim on the front windscreen. Also changed the flim on passenger front window, had a bubble. I pun tak perasaan. Not sure abt the experience of others, but have done 3 cars with them, so far no issue. Cheers

Wah! 3M film also no good? ok.. I'll stop recommending them.. :10:

I actually paid RM988 for my mini MPV's VKool package, windscreen pakai Elite, others windows all SoladGuard.. imaging Elite for windscreen alone is RM800.. what kind of quality is SolarGuard.. after 5 years, they peel, they streak, they bubbled.. semuanya ada.. :4: and yes, it also react's with stickers. It make the film smear.. terrible! After my warranty claim, no more car club stickers on all my windows.. sudah takut!

Hope Elite does not have the problem with windows stickers.. otherwise, I have to remove the BCM stickers liao.. :3:

Bro, so far no issues. Smart Tag, auto gate remote...works well. Paid abt rm1,900 for the E39. Keeps the car cool in really hot sun. I now recall using V Kool for my front windscreen on my NAZA ria last time. Smart Tag at Jln Duta toll cannot pakai unless wind down, but at Subang exit NKVE no issue. Makes no damn sense, got rid of the tint. cheers

I think the old VKOOLs are good...already 9 years and the VKOOL is still good. No discoloration or peeling or bubbling. It even passes the Puspakom inspection except the front when I bought the car a year ago..replaced the front using INFRARED. Smartag friendly and very good IR rejection too....

my folks both use wingard, compared to vkool i suppose heat rejection not as good but its party trick is shatter resistance. puspakom cabut the tint on mum's E60 but they replaced it at no cost.

Looking at the postings, I fear that the problems is with the batches which seems to indicate that the quality is not consistent.

What I hate is V-Kool not doing anything about it and hoping that the Customer will just swallow it and not complain. When we do, make it difficult and hide behind "Company procedure la".

After an exchange yesterday, I wish to add two adjectives to the people at V-Kool; STUPID and RUDE.

Stupid, because it is unreasonable for their procedure to expect the Board of a RM7billion Company to entertain issuing a Board Resolution and Form49, just for submitting a claim for the replacement of the front windscreen tint worth RM900.

It is insulting to think that even after producing the Puspakom report showing that the front tint failed the test that they continue to insist on the Board Reso just to validate the reason for the need for a Puspakom inspection.

Do these people thnik that I have nothing better to do than to send the car to Puspakom to have the tint torn just to further a warrnty claim. I also think the Board members also have better things to do with their time.

Why is Malaysa beset with unthinking people? Or it it an attempt to wear me down.

Well they have succeeded. Am now at Ecotint USJ fitting a new tint where I am not treated as a person attemting to cheat them.

And that's why I tinted my 525i with Huper Optik. No problems so far and already passed one roadblock check with flying colours. ;)

i too am using huper optik on the wife's car...i think its awesome..german made...very nice and cooling in side even on a hot day.

For those who believe that V-Kool has the highest solar heat rejection, please check again. I have found others where the Total Solar Energy Rejection (TSER) factor being higher than V-Kool.

Cool... can share with us the brand, type and price? also what about eletromagnetic signals penetration?

i had an issue with V Kool many years ago on my Land rover discovery warranty claims . first the installer was reluctant to do the warranty claims , later i went to V Kool directly and found out some installer are using fake v kool for the installation . that is why they are reluctant to do the replacement. Later V kool issue me the replacement material and ask the installer to replace it for me . Any Where we must always look out for dishonest retailer .

I had EcoTint on my E36 in the previous century and loved it. The colour was right and performance was great with no issues on Tags and radio transmission of any sort. (Those days no GPS anyway).

Had V-Kool on my '02 E46 and loved its performance also for the whole time i had it. The colour was lighter and greenish. Not so nice but i'll take it anyway. Did it at V-Kool HQ in PJ so it is as ori as you can get. No issues on Tag transmission also but GPS reception was poor. I had to use an external antenna for the GPS. Dunno why some complain about Tags not working thru them. Unfortunately had to strip the front for Puspakom check during my sale. Fortunately the new owner understands too. :)

Currently using V-Kool also on the E90. Installed by the dealer. Again, no issues on transmission (iDrive GPS Navigation uses the external shark fin antenna so no issues for GPS reception for me now unless i use a separate Garmin). Maybe i should have chosen a darker tint. Oh well, maybe next time. Or maybe back to EcoTint next round.

I have replaced the fronts with Ecotint and is happy, no problems with my GPS, Smarttag and Autogate.

I still think V-Kool is crap and so are their people.

i suppose people at vkool who dealt with your issue not very smart, too simple minded or perhaps not empowered to use their brains... procedure there probably bcos prior experience/kena cheated bcos 'puspakom koyak'. some people will find time to go to puspakom to get theirs torn and these people can easily provide whatever board reso or form needed. most likely their own/relative/friend company instead of that high-flying company you worked with. these cheapos and cheats have screwed it for genuine cases like yours. anyways, good reason/push for going back to ecotint. ray barrier on my car still looks good after 5 years. personally not a fan of vkool although they've worked well for many.

Saat,

Is it illegal to tint the front windscreen according to Puspkom or the tint did not pass the VLT readings? I have elite on my E90 and the fronts are almost no color tints vs. the sides. Mine was done at Vkool center in PJ.

I just saw the Puspakom report and it says that the Visible Light Transmission on my front windscreen is 69%.
Thus the film installed by V-Kool made my windscreen fall below the minumum VLT of 70% for the front. The sides are alright with 50% Where the minimum allowable VLT is 50%.
Hence that is the reason why it had to be removed during the Puspakom inspection.
This happened despite the "guarantee" given by V-Kool. Now they claim that what is approved is their tint and not the installation, hinting that the fault lies with the installer, Tint Shop in USJ.

Irrespective of what I am left With the problem.

The sides are alright with 50% Where the minimum allowable VLT is 50%.

During the installation by Ecotint, I observed that V-Kool has 2 layers, the outer layers is the color and the second is the heat resistant layer with no color. I am told they adjust the darkness by varying the outer layer.

One of the key things to look for in a good tint beyond the above specs is Optical Clarity which unfortunately doesn't seem to be published from one brand to another. However, lower quality tints generally do not have the same level of optical clarity when compared to established tints from my observation. Worse when installed on the front windscreen where sometimes you feel that there is a layer of smudge or fog on your windscreen and since it's the tint and not smudge/fog it's stuck there permanently.
