Highest accident fatal rate comes from motorbikers due to many of them are go against on the traffic light.
Highest criminal rate who snatch away pedestrians valuable jewelries are motorbikers.
Highest criminal rate who smash car windows are, again, motorbikers.

Nothing was done to stop these crimes which happens across the whole country now. Instead, the police are busy catching over speed on highway, over tinted windows which has no relation or very little relation to the crime rates and fatal accidents.

I agree with you that the police should stop the majority first. But! The tinting issue is still an issue

Driving over the speed limit is still illegal. Doesn't mean speed isn't the main cause of death we should forget about it

That's a bad thing for me at least. I just installed over the limit for all windows and windshield. I totally agree that there's higher priorities coming to crackdown on traffic offenses. Tinting is obviously not in the highest priority for PDRM and it doesn't solve the obvious ones which were pointed out.

Based on the feedback from police (criminal investigation dept), no clear evidence was shown that tinted window is the cause of high crime rate. In this regards, JPJ is reviewing their specifications now, hopefully it helps to alleviate the grievances.

hopefully, they go with more light into the cabin?

front 80% VLT and sides and rears at 65%?

haha..

i think the standard specs they have currently is sufficient.

I just think that they are looking at collecting some moolah as they think it's a form of raising funds for the government. If the total fine collected from the public is always growing that means the law enforcement agency has failed to educate the public.

I noticed a lot of negative comments coming from the public and they have every right to do so. Why are they cracking down on tinted and wrong plate number specification vehicles when we have gang wars, rapes and snatch thefts happening at every corner? Lives are at stake here and it's happening in front if us and there they go catching tinted cars instead. The best part is those robbers take off in cars that aren't even heavily tinted for that matter as they have ski masks.

i think in an ideal world, the police should target areas with the most impact areas like what you've mentioned.

But we shouldn't stop them from catch "other" illegal.

In Malaysia, we have a lot of road issues due to poor enforcement and poor behaviours.

beating traffic lights, driving against traffic, speeding and etc.

all of which are against the law.

if you have illegal plates, you'd complain. if you have darker than permitted tint, you would bitch.

but please bear in mind, these are laws. ignorance of law is still wrong.

US car tinting VLT is 32% for side windows, whereas Malaysia is 50%. Compare the weather among US and Malaysia, 80-85% of the year round are below 30C in most part of US. I really don't understand the rationale of our JPJ. Also, JPJ and Puspakom have different specifications.

could you elaborate on the JPJ and Puspakom being different specs?

i checked their website. both seem to recommend the same specs. 70 front and 50% for the rest.

I sold my Altis few years ago with VKool tinted laminated film, the dealer issued me the JPJ letter of compliance. When I send my car to Puspakom before I sell, Puspakom is asking me to remove all the laminations. I told him that my car has the JPJ compliance letter, but they refuse to accept my reasons. The only way to prove this difference is to goes back to the dealer request them to show us their photometer results.Due to I am selling my car, so, I didn't bother to argue with them.

I called up my SA with regards to the JPJ 50-70% compliance! he told me that my car was tinted with Llumar Diamond 6 and Llumar Air 65, both compliance to JPJ requirements. He had confirmed with the dealer that in case I kena summon, I can get a warranty claim from the dealer, I really don't know whether this works or not.

hmmm.. your JPJ letter of complaince is done by VKool, specifically for your car?

their letter of compliance could be for the film only

if i am not mistaken, Altis comes with slightly tinted windows.

So if Altis has 20% tint from factory. another 65% of tint may cause it to exceed the JPJ spec. which takes into account your film+factory

I believe all tinting shop has no photometer to confirm this, right ? If this is the case, then Prot could be correct. Anyone knows what is the factory tinted VLT % of our car ?

Anyone using headlights protection? Precut?
Yes I use them, very useful especially if you do a lot of high way traveling. Sad to say I made the mistake of only protecting the headlights and not the fog lamp! So now its cracked whilst traveling down south towards Singapore. Make sure you protect both!

Mavik, what type of laminated film that u used ? Same type as the window/screen laminated film ?

The shop I go to uses Ventureshield film. There are other alternatives as well from China which is cheaper. If you are at the Kota Damansara area just head to Eurotuner. It lasts for about 2-3 years for RM270 (that was what I paid 3 years back, not too sure if the price has changed).

Ventureshield yellows/haze really quickly. (if you park outside regularly). Eurotuner really charges premium for the smallest of things.

i'd recommend Xpel.

I have both Xpel on F30 and Nano Fusion Film on another car. I recommend to try Nano Fusion film.
