danc, chill, step back and make a rational decision. AB should guarantee you that all those items have been changed. If not, break the deal. At the end of the day, you're getting a dream car and you should be 100% satisfied with it. If you have doubts at all, break the deal and go for a CKD. I myself have been dying to get an E90, but because I'm just not 100% happy with what's available here, I'd rather wait. This is not some cheap car with which to go to the market, it's our little slice of heaven, so be 100% happy with what you get.

Like David, I also don't agree with the notion that CBUs are better quality than CKDs. I've had both new CBU and CKD European marques and have never found any discernable difference in quality. CBUs rattle and creak too. In fact the biggest problems I've had in my cars have been in the CBUs, including timing belt snapping at mid-life, gear shift linkage coming apart!

So check out the CKD E90, danc. Use your gut feel for this buy.

hi, i'm new to the bmw family.
fayehong 2006 320i, black

black is hot, just tooo hot.

Hi guys, I'm getting my baby in less than 2 weeks :D
yfei, 2006 320i SE, Monaco Blue

danc: Good luck with your negotiations!! Go with your gut feeling. I have not seen this car they presented to you so I will reserve opinions/thoughts. Although, I'd think, at the very least BMW AB will replace parts as required to keep within the parameters of warranty/road service. I am sure the essential fluids change has been addressed to.

How bad in shape are the rubber linings/tires? I understand the car has been sitting out on the lot exposed, but I am pretty sure the cars were out there in the pre-PDI/shipping stage with ample protection (e.g. cosmoline layers, interior etc). BMW has engineered this car to be durable in all sorts of weather, and I am pretty sure the rubber bits's 1 year high UV exposure is within the durability limits of those parts, as thought up by BMW engineers.

Again, I don't know the exact condition of the parts of which you speak of. If it doesn't feel right for you, don't pull the trigger. I'd voice your concerns with the CA and see what they'll do for you. If they want your business, they will try hard to earn it. Good Luck.

fayehong and yfei: Congratulations and welcome to the E90 registry....

Advise needed,

i m from penang. just got my pre-owned 320i [2005] two weeks ago. i have encounted some problem with the condition of my car n Ab in penang is very reluctant to solve it.

....the real wind screed rubber seal peal off after one day of used.
.... there were no logo intact on one of my car key when i took delivery...
.....scratches at the front grill...... stain of pain inside the dash board......
the condition of the car is not up the expectation as regarded the world best car....

I have spoken to the SA n was promissed to deal with it later.....but yet to solve by them as at today.

I foresee that the services rendered by KL AB was much better if compare to PG. The SA n the services manager over here seem not very professional when handling customer. [ worse than a honda SA, i was using a honda previously]

sigh......can anyone give me some valuable advise on how to deal with AB?

Hi everyone,

Thanks for all the feedback/inputs. You all are just GREAT! To be frank when I saw the car everything look ok except for the tires. The rubber lining still feels soft but I noticed that the interior was not very clean. I have to admit that they have only just done PDI but has not prep the car yet i.e. polishing, cleaning etc. Is this normal? There were no plastic covers on the driver seat only on the passenger. There are some strains on the front arm rest and some on the steering which I am sure can be cleaned. One of the rims has a very light scratch which I wouldn't have noticed it but they pointed it out to me and told me that they have placed an order to replace that rim. I am just not too happy with the tires checked and saw that they were manufactured 3405 (34th week of 2005) Anyone else out there has mewer tires on. (Those who bought the 2005 CBU)

I was also trying to see where was the VIN number but could not locate it. Heard that it's on the bottom right of the front windscreen but all I saw was a small window but nothing on it.

According to the SA BMW will change part depending on the condition of the car and not by default i.e the items stated earlier. Of course they will say that the car they are offering is still in very good condition and thus minimal changes. Not sure how much of this I can believe but I saw another 2 cars parked just beside mine with proper clean up and it looks ok but the tires they had on were bridgestones and not pirellis euforia which were on my car. Couldn't identify what year those bridgestone tires we made.(Strange..)

I will definitely be voicing my concerns and will see the car again after they have "done" it up. Anyone else if there is something that you think I should look out for please let me know.

Again THANKS everyone, cheers and happy motoring!

fayehong...let me go through your list, per item.

1) The rear window seal is a common issue even in new US spec cars. It is starting to peel off at the base of the rear window, correct? This is a warranty claim issue and your SA/dealer should address it.

2) The roundel on the key fob goes off easy. Unfortunately, there is no replacement roundels to go on the fob. In these case, US dealers/SA will often make a warranty claim to BMW and replace a new unit fob (worth about 200-300 bucks per piece, I think). So again, its a warranty issue. If they give you a problem with this, I'd get some forum references on this, for you.

3) Scratches on the front grille? This should've been picked up by you at delivery. Might be hard to prove. Paint stains in the dashboard? Again, same issue. They're not hard to address, a details shop should be able to take care of it, but talk it out with your CA and see what he says....be firm and have all the facts.

All else fail, document and send letter to BMW Malaysia. Tell them that the issues are being publically discussed on the forums.

Yes, we are buying expensive cars here and as a consumer, we have all the right to demand for the right thing from them. Do your best to voice it out with AB or BMW Malaysia and make sure they provide the car to your expectation. We are talking about a car value of RM 230k to RM 290k. It's not cheap.

danc...the VIN is where you stated it should be. Maybe there was a piece of card or paper blocking it? The VIN plate does not come on and off easily. All else fails, the VIN is etched in the engine bay, I think left shock column.

Sounds like they're being stand up about the whole thing. Its good that they will replace parts (within reason) so readily, to deliver the car in new condition. If you're not happy with the tires, ask them if they'd swap them out with new ones. Although, the 161s sets seem to be in short order, and they might come back and offer you a set of 159s off a CKD model...will that be acceptable?

Upon or before delivery, go through the car with a fine-tooth comb. Check air pressure, tire condition, ask them about alignment, check paint and linings, check engine bay, ask about recent pre-delivery service, go through the interior, check electricals, check mileage!!. BTW what are the delivery mileage on the CBU models?

oh yes....better check 100%.....as the car is not cheap.......my CBU miliage was 19km when i pick up.....the tyre was old.....rebber seal was old......mean after after one odd years ....... tehy didnt change it for me.....so.
danc...u r pretty lucky if they change all for u....

fayehong: as discussed, document the issues and take it up with your SA. Every visit should be documented as well. If nothing comes out of it, send all evidence with letter to BMW (M). Reference this website as well, if you choose so.

Go on e90post and document the frequency of the rear window rubber seal issue as well as the key fob roundel issue. Use that as reference.

These cars come with new car warranties, its time to cash that in. Good Luck.

Our E90 community is growing...awesome. Thank you once again to the folks who took time to register and acquaint yourself. I enjoy the exchanges thus far, you guys rock!

Whadya think? Is it time to start an E90 picture thread? Maybe a member pics thread? Also how about a meet when I get back this Dec?

Gee, look at my colour... so boring! I've always thought the black looked more garang and sleek, but clearly the all time favourite is... Black Sapphire

Imagine the 335i coupe in black. Aaaaaaaaaaaaaargh! I still want one! Eh wait, no, I 'need' one! (I know, I know...) :D

shucksE90: Actually, BMW does their blacks well. It should be their signature color. If you look at their flat black (jet black) in person, you can see their black is blacker than most other blacks.

Black looks best when freshly washed and waxed....too bad that doesn't last long :D

I am surprised sparkling graphite metallic is not as popular (at least in this forum). Its their brochure cover car for crying out loud :D Ok that sounded personal...

If I were to buy an E92 335i, it would have to be the E92 specific Space Grey with Coral Red interior and Grey Poplar wood or Brushed aluminum trim

Gosh, what a beauty that Space grey 335d E92 is, KL2DC. Awesome! :p

Sales organisations are always going to adopt a "Don't ask, don't tell, don't change" position. They have to meet quotas and maximise profits after all. I'm sure there are lots of new CBU E90 owners who aren't even aware of the Port Klang hiatus, nor do they care as they're very happy with their steeds.

Until you take delivery of a car, you have the power of using your feet. Or in the case of pkw88, he can still get his wheels and tyres changed AFTER taking delivery :) It's all a question of how well informed you are and how hard you put your foot down. A friend of mine refused to take delivery of a Korean SUV that had already been registered, because of a hairline scratch on the bonnet and it sent the company into a tizzy because he absolutely refused to sign for it. He got RM1k knocked off for just a hairline scratch! :)

KL2DC - when I first booked my car, it was actually for the sparkling graphite. I finally changed my mind when allocations were being made, because of two reasons:

(1) I had noticed that the graphite cannot bring out the chrome window surrounds in the same way that black can - and I love the chrome :D ps - I think the US versions are de-chromed??

(2) the graphite showcar on BMW marketing material is heavily photoshopped ..... in real-life, there is no way a car can shine like that!! Notice the almost-perfect reflections of the surrounding environment on the car ..... so I changed because I know if a real car in graphite cannot shine like that, then it would not look the way I wanted it to.
