Thanks KL2DC for the tips; however I still could not configure it, fiddled around with the OBC as suggested but could not get the command (the key with the tick icon cameup but underneath where you suppose to SET has a fuel pump icon next to it). Couldn't for the life of me figure it out...perhaps one programming routine is missing in my OBC.

Anyways, in a grand scheme of things its not exactly a big deal. Just a bit annoying. Will have to let AB look at it when my 10k is up.

David and the rest, what about your car? the auto lock work alrite???

Cheers

Dunno whether the moniker will change to 328 here like it will in the US and other markets, but essentially it will be the same car. A facelift isn't due yet, am I right KL2DC?

I am not 100% sure if Malaysia will adopt the 328i moniker. As I understand it, you guys have the more advanced, highly tuned (multiple stage intake system) 2.5l version of the N52 block. In the U.S. both 330is and 325is share the same 3.0l N52 engine, the differences (40hp) boiling down to intake manifolds and software.

Not sure how far the stretch is, to tune up the 2.5l N52 to justify a 328i moniker in Malaysia. I figured for the truly badge-conscious individuals, they can dwell into a little self-administered badge-engineering project, if they wish

In any event, I will advise as soon as I hear something.

The US 328i is just a retuned version of the detuned 3.0l N52 engine (15hp more, now up to 230bhp). Aside from the retuning of the engine, the 328i received an updated version of the steptronic (in cars so equipped), redesigned HVAC knobs, touched up steering wheel (ala E92) and software updates. There might be some changes to the car secutiry feature (need to confirm what it is, though). Also, the Navi/I-drive combo option gains real-time traffic monitoring and all BMW Assist equipped cars received a 4 year subscription.

But all this comes with a $2,200 price hike which I feel is unjustifiable (no significant equipment addenda). I suspect, the 328i is more of a marketing move to move the car a little bit more upmarket (in anticipation of the 1 series) as well as to squeeze more money  I can understand the similar $2,200 price hike in going from an N52-engined 330i to the N54-twin-turbo'd engine 335i on the other hand.

There is no exterior facelift program in the immediate radar (MY2007). There are some rumors, minor revisions to bumper covers and headlights might be incorporated for MY2008, but those are not confirmed yet. At the very least, I expect some minor equipment changes and color/trim revision for MY2008.

Macheet, sometimes the full range of menus come out, sometimes they don't...I forget the conditions (who reads darn manuals anyways) :p

Did you try accessing the OBC menus with the car on and transmission in 'Park'?

Yes KL2DC, done on 'P', 'N' and 'D'...didn't work Bro. Did a bit of research on E90post, apparently MY2005 has software issues.

I did the setting just like what stated in the manual book (the one that KL2DC posted out). Everything is good. I think you better check this out with AB as one of my friend do face some problems with his CBU MY2005.

Macheet: If I am not mistaken Pre-Sept cars have full Personal Profiles Settings for autolock (among other things). Post-Sept cars added Daytime Running Lights (and something else, I think) selectable settings to personal profiles.

David_Yong is correct, I believe a trip to AB is warranted to make sure all is right with your software. I would push for a software (progman) update.....

Macheet, this might help. When u want to access the personal settings, you have to make sure the car ignition is ON. Then you will get the menu option for changing the autolock function. Took me ages to figure that one out. This car is too smart for my liking. Or I'm too stupid for it! LOL

Macheet, i got AB to program auto-lock when I upgraded the CIP (I think it was CIP 19)

Thanks guys. What I can gather from E90post, pre-Sept 05 cars do not have the functionalities of autolock and DRL (day running light). Munich updated the software on all post Sept cars with capability to do this via OBC stalk. So need AB to configure it for me.

Anyway, will try again today and see what happen.

pkw88, "make sure the car ignition is ON" presumably engine is running or not??? Too smart? tell me about it. Have you tried switching remote control (use the spare). You'd lose all profiles you set on the other key and have to start again including memory for driver seat. Bangle got more electronics people than mechanical ones on E90 project , I think!!

rookie, I remember that CIP 19. In case AB make it difficult for me!!!

BTW, what about running-in. The manual say less 160 kph, < 4500 rpm and no full throttle etc etc. I hve been religously complying to a point all the Satrias on NKVEs flashing their lights forcing me to the middle lane!!! My Proton engineer friend is saying modern engines do not require to be 'running-in'. Hmmm.....any opinions? KL2DC?

Thanks again guys. Cheers.

Macheet, strongly suggest that you go to AB and get them to have a look at your software. Afterall the car is with full warranty. Let them crack their head and get it sorted out for you.

My car is a Feb '05 car and autolock has been successfully programmed. Haven't tried doing it myself via the OBC stalk though.

Regarding AB, we need to be more insistent to get what we want. I actually contacted BMW M'sia 1st on the CIP update and they confirmed that the update was available 1st before I contacted AB. Of coz, I kept BMW M'sia in the loop when contacting AB.

Macheet and Rookie...

You are both correct. For autolock programming accessibility, CIP19 and subsequent iterations are required.

"The following Vehicle and Key memory custom configuration are available on all vehicles purchased. (The scope of selections available depends on the equipment options of your vehicle)

Vehicle Memory
Daytime Running Lights(Front Lights only, taillights are not activated)
When active: low intensity high beam automatically turn on when ignition is on, enhancing visibility to other vehicles

Pathway Lighting
When active: by quickly flashing the high beams after the ignition is turned off, the headlights remain for about 40 seconds lighting the pathway in front of the vehicles

Driver Seat Position Memory
When active: the vehicle automatically duplicate the same drivers seat position setting as the last time the particular key was used.(Included with each remote control key; activated by unlocking or opening the doors)

Armed Alarm Confirmation Signal(Only on vehicles equipped with alarm system)
Alarm Acknowledgement can be both cisual and audible(signal lights flash and siren "chips"), or only visual(signal lights flash )

KEY MEMORY(applies to each key)
Automatic Locking After Vehicle is in Motion(Note: Doors can be unlocked from inside at any time)
When Active, all doors automatically locked after exceeding a speed of 5 mph, providing enhanced security.

Selective Central Unlocking
When active: the first time the key's "unlock" button is pressed, only the drivers door is unlocked helping to enhance security. The second press releases all locks.(When not active: the first press of the key releases all locks)

Climate Control Settings Memory(Always active)
The vehicle automatically dupliicates the same Automatic Climate control settings(temperature, air distribution, fan speed) as the last time that particular key was used(Activated by starting ignition)"

non-i-drive cars benefitted the most from the CIP19 upgrade.

"Software updates aren't fast and easy.

Different module versions and module production dates in different cars get different updates aswell, thus the reason BMW now has a dedicated computer running updates at dealers ( the SSS computer )

Also the car needs to be placed on a special charger that keeps a constant voltage and powers all systems in the car. If you only did it on a full battery ( without the charger ) you probably would have a dead battery by the end of the update and a corrupt set of data on the car."

Btw not to kill this thread or anything but perhaps we should channel all this e90 energy towards a specific BCM's E90 General Discussion Thread?

Hi, has anyone fixed V-kool on their E90, if yes,can you share which outlet is the best, cos I am concern on their limited experience in E90.

I have Hüper Optic on my e90. No problems fixing it. They're in Sri Hartamas. As good as V-Kool and works with Smart Tags. I'm told that the best place for V-Kool is still to go to their HQ in PJ.
