Hi All !I'm sure we all have been to workshops that gave us some really bad experience. I was wondering if we can start a tread that reveals them for the better of other forumers. Should have name of Workshop as well as description of what they did. I at least have 2 of them. If it is ok I would like to start the ball rolling 1. BMW Specialist Centre, Glenmarie - Went in to Change Wheel bearing. Bearing was jammed. He persisted to work on it, ended up breaking the Knuckel joint at the rear wheel. Then insisted that I pay for a second-hand unit. Even made me pay for the drive shaft. for a RM 180 Job I ended up paying RM 2,900 for a damm bearing, then found out it was not my bearing but my tyres.2. Good year service centre Glenmarie. (will Post the name later) After cahnging the rear wheel knuckle, found that the bearing on that unit was damaged, went to the next closes shop-pissed off with the first shop. Qouted me RM 90 for bearing and RM 100 labour, ended up paying RM 90 for Bearing and RM 580 for Labour-Why because he was incompetent and did not have the tools, car was in his workshop for 2 days

holy shit dude..next time get all quotation on paper, DEMAND for it :) ni mechs semua sometimes kurang ajar sket

thanks for sharing... pls do not publish the name of the shop...

i started a thread about this famous 'doctor' in USJ sometime ago, many forumers had bad experience with this 'doctor' also. Somehow one of the BCM committee or moderator changed MY original title of the post. Why?, like I mentioned in that thread, I think many forumers are buddies with this 'doctor' , and maybe felt indebted to him in some way.
The moral of the story, you should name the workshop and expose them regardless of what ppl in the forum says. Just relate your bad experience and let ppl judge for themselves.

Wah bro rubes72, you came all the way from kemaman and got this. That's not very good. I believe there are good ones around. It's just bad luck that you found the no good ones. Next time if you are around I bring you to the mechanic that I only go to since I bought my bimmer.

Yes I know ... well I'm from Klang anyways, just working in Kemaman. I think we should expose their names, for the good of other forumers. We don not want our buddies getting ripped off as well. I don't know what do you guys think, I feel this forum should be assist it's members in anyway it can, that's why a description is needed, so that you may gauge the situation and make judgment yourself. Well Jag, most of these workshops are run by ppl a little rough around the edges, so.... getting a qoute is sometimes difficult . Plus you'd think you will kena potong if you're stranded, not other wise

Yes, I agree, we should let forummers describe their grouse & name the parties responsible!

At times, it's the s8ck-ups folks who are trying to be drammatic here... or should I say there @ the workshop?

Please stick to the fact and actual experience about any workshop that you visit.

If you need to name the workshop, please also state the time and date of the incident. Detail of the works carried and itemised billing would be also appreciate
too.

I think it only fair to both party concerned.

so... the problem starts at a mechanic that knows no shit about bmw's...

pity, that we sometimes get caught like this..

as for me, post it up, it's your say, your opinion, your right and it was your money..
just that to let people know NOT to go this workshops...

are we also allowed to post on authorised BMW workshops or non-authorised workshops only since this is an official BMW Club endorsed by BMW AG?

*scratch head*

When you at the workshop, just asked them the following questions, and if they can't answer you then ..skip

1. Whats my engine model and what spark plugs heat range it use / model
2. Ask him why your BMW look tilted to the right. If his answer is.. your shock/spring rosak.... skip
3. Ask him why BMW suggest 25K service interval for all new BMW, if he say BMW stupid.. skip also

What does this has to do with being a so called official club forum?

Common sense, common sense......

Bro python...
Hahaha....your Q's I know lah :top:

Surely I can't be the only one with bad experiences! I do agree with Jarance, we have to be fair to both parties when describing an incident. Maybe to take the club one step further, maybe we should start endorsing workshops, give the workshops seal of approval ( I mean the good ones), Committee, what say you?

Recently I attended the Car Clinic with BMW Club at Sapura Auto, here the answers.

1. 25K KM or 12 months service interval as they are using longlife engine oil. So if you are using normal oil, please change it accordingly.

2. Why the car is tilted? BMW is all about balance and it was designed in Germany and to have the left side lighter then then right so when the only driver is in the car (70-80% of the time) the car will have the perfect balance.

I like how this thread have moved.. It is hard to say which workshop is good or bad as human are inconsistance. If the mood is good they are perfect but at the wrong time.. even the best will make mistake.

I do really hope for those workshop who POTONG us for our hard earn money be listed here.

Check out the maintainance thread and PM the owner for advice if you like the price they listed down.

I have questions for the workshop;

Why BMW have the kickdown button even the gearbox will kick down when you accer harder?

At the auto gearshifter S(Sport) E(Economy) N(Nutral) M(????) Manual? ahhaahaa definately not manual. It is "mud" as the gearbox will limit the power to wheel to avoid slip on over spin.

3. In Malaysia at our normal temp, will the engine oil be at 5 or 10w? Or it is just stay at the max 40w and 50w according to the oil spec? So why should we use 5-40w engine oil? Shouldnt a good 20-50w of Semi Syn is good enough?

Have a good day

Thxs for enlightening me bro,
That leads to further Q's tho..

1) I'll be lucky to do 15k kms a year so should i still do the service at 12 months? If so, would that mean i dont need to use this longlife engine oil?

2) How does this balance thing apply when its a RHD version? Do they reverse it and make the right side lighter?
