My ride is an E46.I just happened to be near AB today evening, so when i made a turning to AB (intending to get a spare key), the battery indicator lighted up and engine started to overheat. The AB techs checked my car and found that bearing was faulty. Since it is CNY, i needed to use the car. Got it replaced in no time. Then, my alarm kept going off. The kind AB techs decided to diagnose the prob. Found alarm was not working especially the one located at the rear of the car. They tried solving the issue for an hour if not more but to no avail. They finally concluded that the alarm sensor located at my roof might have been short circuited due to the faulty bearing that led to the dysfunctional of water pump etc.To replace the alarm sensor on the roof, it will cost me RM 800 exclusive of workmanship.Has any bro here encountered similar prob? if yes, how to resolve it please? thanks in advance.

bro,

Are you sure that is the diagnostic info from AB technician?

It sound a bit illogical to relate a mechanical problem in the engine compartment
to a faulty sensor located inside the car.

which 1? well, the technician told me so before he decided to send the car to do a proper diagnostic at the back of AB. When he did a proper diagnostic while trying to resolve the alarm issue(s), two of them finally concluded that it might be due to a faulty motion sensor.

Having said that, the sensor had been working fine all this while (for the past 2 weeks i mean) until the bearing gave way in which i had to replace it at AB.

I did some googling, bro Jarance did reply to a similar post in 2010, where u suggested it to be disarmed by pressing the fob twice.

i tested the car just now but without disarming it. What i did was:

(1) unlocked all doors and locked the car again. Waited for 15 mins. The alarm didnt go off!
(2) got myself locked in the car, and moved around. Alarm went off (so i presume that the motion sensor is working perfectly).

Now im all confused whether it is the motion sensor that is faulty.

Btw, during the diagnostic, there's no red light/error shown for the sensors at the butt/bonnet/doors.

My humble personaly suggestion:
1.) Check all ground wire properly connected.
2.) Check the ZKE General module V function. ZKE General module is the main command centre controlling the sub-module for alarm system.

LOL... this is so easy actually :p

#1 Check this bonnet sensor (try disconnecting it :p)

#2 if that fails try the door sensors...

... if it still fails... looks like its time to change to 3rd part alarm... i know my other noob frieds did to change when they know how simple to fix it (knocks head)
