hi; while waiting for my car to get the front wheel bearing replaced yesterday, i was wondering if it's possible to replace the e30 wheel hub bearing (4 bolts) to e36 (5 bolts) type. is it a straight-forward replacement? wonder if the bearing size is the same. i am considering it not because 4-bolt isn't strong but more for variety of wheels available. hard to find oem or replica wheels for e30. i am frustrated that 4-wheel alloys for my car aren't so easily available. i am tired of looking at these "sparco" wheels and some proton guy in permas jaya likes my wheels and wants to buy them. so, has anyone tried that? thanks.

yes, you can upgrade your 4 lug to 5 lug. You will need to search for the E30 M3 or E36it suspension setup. You can migrate from these 2 setup to the E30 setup.

thanks elwine30;

i just talked to the mechanic but he said the e36 wheel hubs will not fit??? he said diameter is different. can i use back the e30 brake discs?

the front strut+hub assembly is different between the 2... as for the rear, u need to replace the E30 rear arms with rear arms from the E36 compact or the Z3...

There are a few threads on this conversion in the forum.. Feel free to search...

sounds complex...
why can't they just drill one more hole on the e30 bearing hub?

BUT
will the e30 M3 one fit without affecting struts, arms?

good luck looking for the M3 parts... ;)

You would still need to change the front struts and the rear arms to the E30 M3 ones... The disc rotors also different...
