Many do not follow the OBC mileage. Its for you to either believe in BMW's recommendation or perhaps follow the beliefs of those die-hard motorists. Many will do their oil change at 10,000 kms. The only issue is timing it right so your own oil change interval is right in the middle of the BSRI one.

Exactly, I am planning to service her at 10,000km even though OBC says 29,000km (keeps creeping up from 26,000km at delivery). Just read that AB so nice to cover Jason's BSRI at 13,000km. Maybe I am being too gentle with her running in and she prefer it rougher just like how Jason handle one.:25:

My car is bought from Auto Bavaria, Sg. Besi. As far as I know, each SC will re-program the ECU before delivering to their customers. My car indicates that my next service is at 8000km (which is my first). What does your car's on-board system shows?

Mine says 29,000km for the first service. Can I befriend your SC?

Ur service intervals so long, Me thinks most of u have been driving like pvssiez.... cabut.Jazon

Confused: why not following BMW's advise but others? Isn't the system is designed to take care of the car?? So following the advise of the system (which is designed by BMW) will spoil the car??? ...... confused ....

Spot on bro... they are just looking to make money....

The IDrive Diagnostic Software tells you when you need to change your oil... Watch the SA ( Service Advisor ) squirm when you trap him...

Changing engine oil earlier is xtra care for your car .... nothing more than that lah...

I was just wondering when is the first service due? some SA said 10,000KM, some said 25,000KM, some even said wait till the system pop up asking you go service. It's quite confusing! anyone can share the firm one?

Abukaka,

The manual clearly states ( on page 271 , page 74 - camera shots of said pages attached) that the car tells you when it needs to be serviced.
That being said, the Service Advisors normally ask you to come in for an oil change / oil filter change every 10,000 km. You can ignore it if you want to. If you have the dough, why not...? Will cost you about RM 500 i think.

Maybe that is not your first service.... maybe BMW did a first service for you without you knowing.....:burnout:

Jokes aside, when I received my car, it stated that the next service is at 8k, but as I got nearer, the computer started extending the service. What I mean is, after I reached around 5k+, the computer stated i had another 3.6k to the next service. The funny thing was that it kept stating 3.6k until next service all the way up to 11k. Which is when I decided enough was enough and took the car in for a service. My Sales Manager stated that as long as you are within 5k to the next service, a BSRI can be initiated. After my first service, the computer states that the next service is in 25k km. Will probably do another service at 10k before the BSRI at 25k km.

For those who just collected your car, the computer should be stating 8k to next service, if it doesn't then something smells fishy. For those that had 8k initially only to have the service interval extended by the computer, best to seek advise from experienced service tech. 29k km seems awfully long for a service.

I thought there was smtg wrong with mine.. when i took delivery it says 1st service at 20k km.. been driving it hard lately and now it shows service in 21k km or sept 2014.. wtf?? previous e90s i had, the harder i drive em the faster the next service is.. it seems to be the other way round with the f30.. probably i should just stay on eco pro ALL the time.. shish..

For those who sticks to >25,000km service. Trust me.. AB been thru hell when they did that with the E46 following strictly to BMW AG's instruction... 3-5 years down the line, those who diligently follow the extended service interval one by one hit with sludge issue... There are past threads on this.

Search for 'oil sludge'

Anyway, here's 2 of the threads..

Did my first BSRI today at 9xxx. Much like Jason, the on board computer said your next service was around 8000, 9000 km. However, as time went on, it kept pushing the service back. at 9xxx, it said service will be at 11000 KM. I was pretty sure by the time I reached 11k, it will push it up to 15. Anyways, I brought it in, and they accepted the BSRI.

I'd be doing the service in 10k intervals, the rep at the showroom told me it will be every 20k, if you were to initiate the BSRI. I do believe I'll save myself heaps of headaches later if I do the service every 10k intervals.

At pickup of new car my car already says 26,000km for first service. Now the OBC kept pushing to 29,000km. You and Jason seem to have started with with 8000km under BSRI. Smells something fishy pussies with the BMW service interval. How about others. What does your OBC says at pickup?

This is indeed very mysterious. Before we jump to conclusions, it'll be good for other owners to chime in on whether their cars came with 8k or 26k on the OBC for the next service. Not sure if I m the odd one out or if at some point the more recent cars were delivered with longer service intervals.

Confirm la boss... even the SA pointed it out during delivery.... though he did say that it will change and may not tally with the odometer.

BTW, this is also a Quill car.... go figure.....
