i have done 4k and my and when I start it tells me that my next service is after 26000km. Agree with VKS post that the previous E90 could not last 20km without a topup, so might as well do a full change every 10k

After the first service the SA will set 12.5k for you guys.. I think new car setting comes with 25k interval.. Just remind them

This is heart sickening ... so BMW Malaysia is recommending a service interval that is not appropriate for the car they sell because they can save on the BSRI? Is BMW HQ allowing this?

exactly, my suggestion was always refer to your SC. if SC says 20,000km service and within the BSRI. i would follow.

also, synthetics are made to last 30k plus (depending on driving conditions). however, changing it earlier is always good. so servicing at every 10k is better than servicing 20k. And servicing at 5k is better than 10k. Newer oil will always and exclusively be better than old oil. if cost is not a factor, changing every 3k would be fantastic. but then, you'd be better off using semi-synthetics. hence, why i suggested oil change mileage for other types of oils.

Estimated cost per service roughly? Normal service :D

about RM650. i carry out a self-paid oil change in between the BSRI ones. i love the smoothness of new engine oil even only after 7500kms.

Hi Mizhan,

I have done only 1000km as my car is only 3 weeks +. I plan to bring in for service at around 10,000km.
In your opinion, what else should I service besides the engine oil? Also, how many liters did they change for you.
$650 seems like very hefty just to change engine oil. =) welcome to enjoy sheer driving pleasure!!

i just told them to have my car serviced..

Taking my car in for 1st service tomorrow, done 12k so far. The car says another 3,600km to service, but SA said can bring in for BSRI. Got a recommended service agent to attend to me so fingers crossed it will be an issue free event.

yup... unfortunately. My SA knows nuts, I was thinking to talk to and befriend an SC to know more abt the service intervals and coverage of BSRI. I am hoping to get my car this coming Monday. Pray for me and wish me luck.

Post service report, I was in and out in 3hrs. Service was under BSRI program with 11.9k on the clock. Adjusted hand brake and doors (due to sounds filtering in near the B pillar). They took photos of rust spots on the front seat hinges, replacement expected within a month. Experience was pleasant, although I did have to remind the technicians to use seat covers to protect my red leather from grease.... which they did.

My car was purchased from AB Glenmarie, I did the service at AB KL.

PS - With fresh oil, the engine feels great and seems more quiet. Should have done this sooner.

How come my OBC says 29000km for the first service? Does it mean I have been duped for not buying from AB, or my SA screw my service after I screw him for discount? :smokin:

The OBC calculates the service intervals based on your driving pattern. Do you drive the car in a "lively" manner, often with the car in sport mode? If no then the service intervals would be longer. Maybe u should get another opinion from another service center.

Many do not follow the OBC mileage. Its for you to either believe in BMW's recommendation or perhaps follow the beliefs of those die-hard motorists. Many will do their oil change at 10,000 kms. The only issue is timing it right so your own oil change interval is right in the middle of the BSRI one.
