try ask sithwarrior
he know someone letting go e36 with ori M3 b/kits + ori M3 rims
below 50k

Crow,

did you by any chance know if the owner want to sell the rims alone or not:D :D :D (want 17 or 18 inches):p

It's all in that region 40-60k. But don't just look at the price. You might hear that someone got a 97' 328 for 45k, but so what if it's a lemon?

Don't be kiasu. The most important thing about getting a 10 year-old bimmer is the condition. Paying a few k more than someone else doesn't matter.

i'm waiting him to pm me for more details actually
i saw he said that in e36 thread
letme search again..

how long can a rebuilt / overhaul (are they the same?) gearbox last?

may sound a bit off topic, but i think anyone who wants to decide to buy or not would want to know...

the fule consumption for a 328... i was told that for a full tank you can drive up to 350km to 400km for town use and for long distance up to 550 to 600km... that's waht i heard laa... i don't know... perhaps a 328 owner could rectify this...

Since i was thinking of buying a 325i (e36) 1995, i went and check out the interest rates from Public Bank and CIMB (BCB).

Here are the rates:

Public Bank
- max amount of years: 4
- loan amount: 75% of market value (no direct valuation over the phone).
- interest rate: 5.75%

CIMB (BCB)
- max amount of years: 5
- loan amount: RM43.5k (75-80% of their valuation for the car RM58k)
- interest rate: 7.5%
- Monthly installment based on above rates: RM996

hope this would help others whom are looking forward to buy a bimmer.

thanks for the info mr duck...

Better put as highest possible d/payment u can afford and take lesser loan.
U can have better interest and fast approval. Buying is one thing, paying installment and maintaining is the main thing.

which 1 is better?
use extra money as downpayment (lower monthly but no buffer for mod/maintain)

OR

use that extra money for mod/maintaining? (but abit highly monthly)

frankly both r not good. buy thing that u can really afford. I know people driving expensive car but no money to top up prepaid card:p

Buy only thing you can afford...hmmsss...:D :D :D yup this is the right way. However you can see more and more malaysian buy a thing that they already know that they couldn't afford. their prinsip is "biar papa asal bergaya"

The way i looked into these issues is a proper financial management. :) :)

My 2 Cents

follow the heart la.... it's a passion to drive nice cars.... ;)

of course in saying that, the bank account also must take in consideration.

get cheapest and reasonable one, second hand also can.. if dun like then save up for mods la. Sometime a bit more expensive at the end but the satisfaction is there...

Yeah. I think the bank account part would nullify the follow the heart part.

It all boils down to how much can one afford in the end. If i can't find a better interest rate, i don't think i'll buy the car. I decided to reconsider after the initial calculations because i'll be getting good extra income soon...But the interest rates is the killer la..

Mr Duck,

Don't be put off la on the bank account part. Remember u will be getting 'good income' soon ;)

FYi, I am using Pubic Bank. 4 yrs loan at the rate u mentioned. This, I believe is the lowest in the market at the moment for a 10+ year old car.

To share with you I am paying roughly about RM850 per month. In my personal opinion, this is not a lot of money for owning a UDM (... a UDM woh, regardless what ppl say a BMW is still a BMW no matter what year, what model, what cc etc la). At the end of the day, it is not the interest rates that kill you but the passion and love of owning, modding and taking care of it that does it. Hahahaha.... trust me i know. But that another story in another far far away land.

By the main question is... why a 325 (bikin mana racun ni?!!!), why not a 318/320/323? There are plenty of second hand BMW around and some of them are in quite good condition and at a reasonable price.

BUT.. a big big BUT here... please standby some additional CASH if you decide to get it coz this german technology has a high tendency of following the 10 year old BMW life cycle TKO rule. The tranny, the prop shaft, the FD, the crankshaft are a few of these that gives out but spare parts can be found else u go for open heart surgery lerrr..... or a transplant.

Well, that's my 2sens
