g'day guys

eheheheh....:)

jgn laaa marah... nanti cepat tue, dah tak larat nak bawak beemer.. :D

so sorry for yesterdays thread.. i think somebody really got angry with it  ... i really really do appreciate your guys feedback and comment.. thanks so much...

i was actually pissed of with one of my friends.. we had lunch together and he's
an E36 325i owner.. he's the one who said to use the car only 2 to 3 hours weekly.. and how much he had spent on his car... and how frequent the problems come... yada yada yada bla bla bla... and i thought what the hell wrong with germans car ??? it was supposed to be a good reliable car and very very robust.. germans equipment is robust and really long lasting.. i do recon so... because last time i studied in German Malaysian Institute.. i read lots of books on Tech and Germans will come to number 1..

i really can afford to get the car, but i just don't want the hastle of repairing the car one a month.. maybe my dick head friends got a problem car when he bought it at first place.. but he said he replace everything already.. at it cost him a bomb... that's what my concern is...

anyway.. already sort the issue last nite and i will still gonna get myself the 328i.. hehehhhe... :D ... sementare masih bujang nie... so kalau rosak pun tak kene bebel dgn bini daaa....:D

thanks guys... have a pleasent day... be safe and be in control...

cheers..

Tak marah, Syahril. Jes pointing our adik the right way :) Don't criticize fellow forumer's opinions or reasons for owning a UDM when they're trying to help you...tu je...

Getting the E36 328? Yes, go for it man! Just make sure it's a good car. Taking it to a TT for experienced guys to have a look is a good idea.

My experience: While I was a young bachelor whose thinking was done by a body part south of the head, the 2002 was the best time of my life! It defined my lifestyle for 2+ years. But I got having a BMW out of my system, and it was 10 years later before I got a new E36. Enjoyed it again for 3+ years. Now many years later, I'm targeting a 2007 E90. In between UDMs there are other priorities in my life and I drove/drive 4WDs and other contis. That's how to live life to the full - pick the right time for something you want, dive in, do it, and get it out of your system. Otherwise you are forever in your steady but boring Jap/Malaysian and wondering about the BMW in front of you at the traffic lights. :)

Good luck my friend! ;)

jgm maraaa.... aaa

tu laa pasal... tadi i bace balik thread semalam pun quite harsh jugak laa...
so to all the forumers... very very sorry... i budak baru belajar kalau salah biarkan je laa.. eheheh... :D

i thought today i would be kick out from this club... just thinking of changing names.. but tak best laa... baling batu and sorok tangan... so at least this morning almost everbody dah baling balik the batu to me... eheheheheh... i'll take it to my face... because yesterday i jump into a stupid conclusion and make a stupid remark..

cheers..

Rileks guys, dont be to harsh to syahril, just have the same feeling on germans product. I've browse through all the consumable parts that have been posted and it seems that BMW need extra attention for its drivability. It doesnt make sense to me that such a reputable manufacturer is making a machine that comes with mountain high running cost. Maybe fellow beemers are taking maintenance into the serious side (sorry for the assumption). German and Japs cars should have the same practicality i reckon and as Syahril is to optimistic with reliability and robustness, that's why he jump for joy when he heard about so many cost incured when owning one.

By the way, Try Lexus IS with 6-pot engine. You will be amazed on how close it gets to the Bavarian creation

European car parts are always more expensive than Jap, especially luxury brands like Merc, BMW and Volvo. Anytime you send one in to the official workshop for a repair, it will be a 4-figure bill. Even a normal service will be near 4-figure.

It's just premium pricing. Eg, I changed the batteries for my wife's Merc key-fob at C&C: cost RM48. Batteries! But BMW and Merc are nothing compared to say Porsche. Changing anything major in a Porsche is usually 5-figure. An overhaul can be 6-figure.

But the premium tag is why people want to own luxury cars, especially German. No Jap marque has the same street cred and brand cred. The Japs are trying very hard with brand-in-a-brand strategy, eg with Lexus and Infinity. But still not there yet lar...

Porsche happens to be much more reliable than BMW.

Let's put it this way. The beemer is not meant for the masses, the used beemer included. It is a well engineered car but it comes with a price - high maintenance. The beemer is a high precision 'instrument'. The number of sensors in an average beemer is 4 times more than a normal Jap car. When BMW design its cars they never promise that the car will be easier to maintain (It is only technician friendly). When I bought my beemer, I know what I am getting myself into. In this case, I never blamed the engineers in Munich. If you want to drive a beemer you have to think like a BMW technician. Clear the fault messages regularly then the car will behave and think normally (You don't have to do this for Jap car. Some beemer owner also never do this and they ended up cursing and bitching all the way.) This action also involves money. This is also another reason why quite a number of beemer end up in a workshop most of the time. Not because it doesn't perform. As a beemer enthusiast we want to make it run perfectly all the time. It makes me sick if my diagnostic tool register a single fault even though the car is still driveable. This is my 'pantang'. Those who are crazy about the beemer are those who think money is a small issue when it comes to maintenance. When it comes to this, you have no choice. You have to spend. You just cannot afford to wait for your gaji bulan depan. Otherwise, your beemer just like little children will present you with more surprises while you are waiting for your next pay day. This is what owning a modern beemer is all about. And I haven't talked about routine maintenance and wear and tear just yet.

The cars were engineered to be sexy, and desirable in line with what they want to achieve with the marque. Meaning, modern BMWs are not meant to last and be seen on the roads past their sexy and desirable shelf life. A real shame. Older german cars were built like tanks and lasted forever even as taxis. But it did no good for the brand image to see these rust buckets on the streets. An image problem which Volvo is still suffering from today.

Don't shoot me, as this is not my personal opinion but what I have read about modern car manufacturers.

I am not going to shoot you. Just want to share:D . The German marques nowadays are more like the Jap when it comes to shelf life. Used to be 10 years but now reduced to 5 to seven years. They have to increase their competitive edge. The best part was that when they learned the art of recycling, out of a sudden 'Voila'!! Gone are the days when cars were made as durable as the Merc W124 model.

Yeah, you're right guys. The last of the tanks were the W124 Merc and the 700 series Volvos. They all have built-in obsolescence now, a very Japanese tactic. More so in the age of overflowing electronics in cars. Specific microprocessors and software become unavailable after x years.

But then, BMWs have never been built to last right from the beginning. And they're not exactly known for reliability are they? :D I guess we love them for other reasons :p

The reason is EXTRA SEX APPEAL! That explains why Commander Bond aka 007 never drives a Merc. Either Aston Martin of BMW.:D

Why tembak you when your history lesson is correct? ;)

Tell me about sex appeal! I was young during a time when a BMW was a real chick magnet and owning one guaranteed you trouble if you went looking for it! :D Sadly, I think this has also changed and these days chicks are less thrilled by BMWs. Or am I wrong? :p

Bros! Glad to know I'm wrong then!! :p

Si bujang Syahril, listen to your brothers. Forget Honda....forget the maintenance costs....get that BMW and dive into the fast lane! Hahaha, sorry for the racun! :D

no wonder my boss keeps eyeing me in a perculiar way these days... hahahahahahah!

I can testify that when I had the 2002 long long ago, the chicks in the discos used to fight to be the one to leave in it with me. Straight to the Jln Duta parking zone ;) (now the flyover to the NKVE) Once I even pulled 2 chicks in one night...berturut-turut :p

BMWer = POWER! :D

I think I need to get back into BMW soon la! Syahril, you racun me instead! :p :p :p

These days, the chikas very pandai oledi, they know how to see model, age etc of the Bimmers.

Thats great.

Inspite of all the reliability issues that you have seen here, it is still the best sports saloon to get if compared to Audi/Alfa/Fiat etc
