Ahh what's next on the cards then bro.

Hi eggie, just continuing the same process but with different bodyshop. This shop did good quality job on my car,
but has many other vehicles being repaired. They focus more on short term jobs, that's why mine got sidelined. Furthermore,
the body guy is only a part timer... quite difficult to find body guys with good skills.

this is the frustrating part where you see your car just lying there with no work being done. wish you better luck with your next mech.

i can take you to a place where an E28 is undergoing bodyshell restoration. there's also an immaculate E21 awaiting collection by owner. contact me directly if you're keen.

After seeing no progress at all for around 2 months++, I've decided to pull the plug. I sent the car on 30 Jan and until now, only one spot
on the floor has been welded, pretty much less than 10% from the total welding to be done. I've instructed them to reinstall the carpet and driver seat, hopefully to collect the car tomorrow, to be sent to another bodyshop.

Wish me luck hmmm.....

Thanks johnj. I am positive this new shop will do the job on time. He normally accept 1 car at a time and focus until finished. He did my grandad's and uncle's merc last time, around 1 month per car. He's more expensive but I think I just have to bite the bullet.

Thank you very much mizhan. My e21 is in Muar. But I'm curious, where is this place? Look look, see see only, also I like. Actually, I have a soft spot for E28 hehe

Hi FM, Looks like you found a good place for bodywork. One thing i like to suggest is that you cover all windows and aluminium rims. From grinding and welding the melted steel fragments sticks to glass and aluminium. Result is that your windshield will be like sandpaper and eat up windshield-vipers. For your rims melted steel wil go throught the outer clear coat and paint will start peeling after some time. Keep the photos coming.

Not quite sure what you are after here? The rim on the photo is not an E21 rim. The one on the E21 was similar but with 4 holes and 13". Have i misunderstood something here?

Yes Tor, I am looking for this 14" rims but not for my E21. You're right, E21 also has this same turbine style rims but with 4 bolts and 13".

Tor, please post pictures of your cars. :top:

I've collected the car today, all welding completed, both mudguards and also the bonnet changed. The shop completed the job in two weeks :top: . I'll post pictures later. Arrangement for painting will be next week hopefully. Should i go for the original blue? I am also thinking of inka...what do you think?

Here is what i would do. Before i go anywhere near a paintshop I would look ahead. Decide what you will do with the car.

If your plans are to lower the car, stiffen the suspension, upgrade engine with heaps of power and make one "mean street machine", that you can glide on the "strip" with. Inca would be the color, even golfgelb could do the trick. It would be a car that everyone would notice and you would turn heads. IF everyone had original cars, that would be boring too.

I have no idea of your age and your desire. For me i´m to old for street machines (not that i have anything agains them, but with me in one, it would look like a misplaced grand-dad) :D

Then what i would do if the car was mine, again it´s personal. I would stick to Saphirblau. (yours almost looks a bit too dark to be saphire though) And put a couple of nice looking 15" aluminum rims on. Even though i don´t like to do what everyone else is doing, I have to admit that Alpina rims looks good on an E21. (think 2/3 of all europe´s E21 has got them)

My E21 is home waiting for me, i´ll be back from work on saturday, I will take some photos of mine and publish them here. For now I only have original steel rims for mine. Alu is coming on sooner or later.

Cheers

Tor

Hi Tor,
I am not lowering the car or upgrading anything at the moment. It will stay stock. But the colour, I will decide on something interesting, a standout colour, like that inka orange. Just look at the Prius C with the orange colour, I am glad UMW decided to offer that colour instead of the usual drab silver, black, white...
I never thought of that golfgelb, I never even heard of that name "golfgelb". It looks very very nice, considering..hmm.....

I am sticking with the original 13" rims. The Alpina 15" is my favourite but I've never seen any in Malaysia. Another favourite is Mim rims, also never seen...
