Welcome... Sent the car yesterday. The shop told me that it will take a bit long because he wants to do it properly.
I said no worries, I am not using the car. It's very important to cut out all the rust and weld in new metal.

I've seen cars rusting again not long after welding because metal patches were welded on top of rust areas.

Hi bro, how is your e21 bodywork coming along?
i was digging up some of my old stuff and am clearing it upp. by any chance if you are looking for spare parts for your solex carbie let me know. got one unit lying around but can only be used for spares...
all i got to do now is the interior of mine and then we can teh tarik with the e21 soon.. haha..

Hi e21manic,
I went to have a look last Saturday 11/2, They have removed all the factory sound deadening material and cutting the rust areas on the floor. Progress is
a bit slow but I don't mind. I'll post pictures when I'm there probably this weekend.

Thanks, I'm interested in the solex spares. My mobility is quite limited now, a bit of pain after yesterday's walking around at PJ sunday car market,
but yeah, we can plan for TT later...

Slow progress of welding, but ok to me...

After this is completed, I will certainly buy Waxoyl with the High Pressure Sprayer kit, to spray everywhere in the sills, box section
to avoid rusting again. My uncle's 1970 model volvo 144 has much much lesser rust than this.. hmmm.....

haha.. looks good bro come to think of it. when i sent mine, it was like flinstones car... lol..

Mind to share the cost of body restoration bro?trying to do some estimation if i wanna proceed with e21 project whether i can afford or not.

well, mine is estimated around rm2k. but after stripping, there's more rust in various nooks and crannies, so might be more in the end. buy the best car you can get...

Both fuel tanks will be removed from the car, even the body areas where the fuel tanks are bolted are rusty. Fresh metal will be welded in to
avoid the fuel tanks from crashing down the road when I 'm driving huhuhu :24: :21:

I'll be ordering this...

but I notice some in this forum also use Wurth antirust products, will look into this.

whoa a lot of detail on making sure it wont rust again! good!! unfortunately i am seeing rust spots pop up again after the bodywork done 3 years ago.. haiz.. bro how is the engine and the rest of the car? all good and running? and just wondering if you have any spare headlamps lying around. i lost the light fitting for my dim lights when i stripped the car last time! argh!! rewiring is a total pain! haha.. all worthwhile.. keep up with the updates! :D

It's important to rustproof all areas after welding.

Engine and rest of the car is quite ok. the cooling system will have to be improved, E21 has no radiator fan shroud, to be fabricated or convert to electric fan.

Sorry, no spare headlights, but you can adapt E30 projector or the newer smiley to fit. Or do this, hehehe http://www.r3vlimited.com/board/showthread.php?t=132990

I came across this interesting advertisement in The Star page 5 today. I think it's the build up to F30 launch.

So, tomorrow E30 advertisement, Wed E36, Thur E46, Fri E90, Sat F30 and also launch day?

haha that is one sweetttt shiny e21 going up for display there!
nice touch on the rims tho..

Are those being prepared for the F30 launch event? Superb! Thanks iceman...

No progress...

After seeing no progress at all for around 2 months++, I've decided to pull the plug. I sent the car on 30 Jan and until now, only one spot
on the floor has been welded, pretty much less than 10% from the total welding to be done. I've instructed them to reinstall the carpet and driver seat, hopefully to collect the car tomorrow, to be sent to another bodyshop.

Wish me luck hmmm.....
