nothing that would have changed the course of world history there daniel... anyway here goes...
dad bought it new in 1980. was in the original metallic green for about 3 years (as you all know, the E21 323i model only comes in 2 choices of colours either the metallic green or the metallic blue. cant recall the names of the colours though.) then it was painted in graphite black with the skirting and rear spoiler installed. the paint job was done in segambut...
in 1986, my mum bought a used E21 323i metallic blue but the cars life was shortlived just a few weeks after changing her rubbers when my brother crashed the car at 180kph.... according to the police, the car skidded while negotiating a bend (oversteer?) and got wrapped round a lamp post.. nice no though WAW 3231. anybody seen it on the road? curious to know what happened to the car...
this car is accident free except when my dad drove over a log and that damaged the original rims hence the aftermarket ones. overhauled twice and rebored so engine is now close to 2.5 litres. all are original except for the brake servo pump (japanese vr4 which provides more feel and stopping power), straight flow exhaust, skirtings and the chrome wheel arches which are add ons accs. engine is in perfect condition and tuning except for the gearbox which has a slight grinding sound when the engine is cold (actually sounds like a muted washing machine) the straight flow exhaust system with remus end can makes her sound like a cat purring and she really 'sounds' like a giant feline being stroked once the engine has warmed up.... REALLY!
the slight body rust has been taken care of when i painted the car about 3 mths ago... so now saving money to do the slight under carriage rust ... i took out the rear spoiler as i think it looks better without it (my dad disagrees)
interior is original except that the seats fabric has been upholstered about 10 years ago. the mats are aftermarket ones. like i mentioned, its not restored just improved/changing of worned parts, little by little over the years.
like i have mentioned before... the 'shark nose' design is one of a kind... and i must say that this really gives character to the car besides the straight six engine, the swaying rear and the 'purring'... i really hope i can maintain her as long as possible, so i am working very hard (7 days a week actually) not only to fend for my family but also to upkeep her and make her road worthy the best as i can, as the car has already seen two generations of drivers/owners and hopefully more to come...
hope this short write up didnt bore anybody to death...
cheers all
