My 1st E36

The car rpm a bit funny when start the car. It just goes up & down. Not normal.
I was on the way to the workshop and my car just stop in the middle of the road (in front of jusco tmn u). Feel bad to cause a massive jam. There are some good souls who offered hand to push the car.
I tried to start, got crank but cannot start. It rains all day and I run over some deep water.

Mech came and we push the car until to the road side. Check and no spark at plug.
Car is at workshop now. Hope they can solve. Check with computer shows, crank sensor error.
Anyone has similar issue before.

Have you replaced the crank sensor before? if not might be high time you replace them

Hi Slyder, thanks.
Initially the mech say same thing to replace. But today he say change some wire(sensor). Not sure which one. He say still waiting for another wire. Only can collect car on wednesday. I'll update here once collect the car.

Collect the car today.
Replaced both crank and cam sensor.
crank sensor RM300, cam sensor RM280, labour RM60.
Car start much easier now.

hope the prob is solved bro .. so sad to hear bimmer break down middle of the road. BTW anyone here can share how do we know its time to replace mass sensor? whats the symptom like?

Just changed to std spring today. Can't stand car rubbing bump at my company car park.
Still got my sport spring. Let me know if anyone interested before I post it in mudah.

My car rpm going crazy before my mass sensor "kong". It's just goes up , down and jerk at idle, didn't feel it when driving.

when my crank position sensor was starting to break down, id get an intermitant back fire through the intake plenum, enough to blow the vacuum hose off------ when i replaced the sensor, i noticed the wire was hard --- almost hard enough to snap-- i guess this was the issue, engine heat had degraded the cable signal------ maybe a 'roasted' cable is a sign of impending failiure.

symptom problem air mass sensor from my exp before is engine will hunting n jecking...easy to know is at idle rpm after 10 min cool start.....i just change air mass sensor from 1/2 cut only...:rock:

Car engine vibrate when stalling. Vibrates like running with 3 pistions.
Car in workshop, need to service too. Hope nothing major.

Joe, may be you can check your Oxygen Sensor ?.

Thanks Azmi. Haven't collect my car yet. I do feel my ride fuel consumption a bit high. May be its time to change O2 sensor.

O2 sensor changed but still engine vibrate when idle.

Thanks firdaus. The car vibrate only when idle and engine is hot.
Car still at workshop. Mech say some valve not functioning.
Still under testing. Hope solve it.
Update tomorrow after collect my car.

e36 journey was never ending story.. many end up with frustration. be patient after u rebuilt it surely can kick ass brand new car...

Got the car. Feeling much better.
Changed exhaust sensor and crank case vent valve.
Since its time to service, service the car too.
Enjoy the car till next adventure.

Car in workshop again. Now afm/maf again. Planning to replace new unit. Rm1600
There are leak at one of the seal near gear box. Rm300.
I'll try to take picture later.
