the car must be doing a lot of chasing on illegal importing guys...
the last time i saw.. kastam using older version of the 5 series...

Many members of the club once advised me to stay focus on my search...
So yours should be M43, electric fan and manual gearbox, if possible silver.

sold by venomh from this forum : booked and taken.
3. one nice silver 318 manual
the owner name is Hazizi
i suppose to go to KL to view that car last weekend
but due to no ticket to go down,
i postpone to this week.
i talk to the owner , he is kind enough to wait for me
and he said he will remove his online ad to wait for me.
so monday i go to buy ticket for this weekend
already confirm to go down this weekend.
than... today...
the guy call me.. said the car already sold.
is really not gentleman at all.
first said can wait for me
now when i confirm to go there already,
he sell the car..
now i feel really bad
how can be like this
at first i already thinking to take the car already
now... turn out to be like this
i feel frustrated, mad, lost
it shows character of no class at all
already promise to wait for me
now sell the thing...
and its just 2 more days before i get to view the car
how can someone who drive a bmw be such no class at all.....

I feel you, coz I too was looking forward to getting another car. Everything done up, new ori wheels and going for quite cheap. My uncle's friend was the used car dealer, he thought he could nego for a lower price. Then someone bought it.
That night makan seafood also no appetite.
Take it easy, forget about it for a while, then later look for it. I like the first rule of Motortrader. There's always another car!.
I'm sure you'll find your babe. Just stay patient. U know the e36 M3 is about 70k now? Just saying lol. Please resist the urge to rush your next buy. I lost RM500 in a deposit because I rushed it before I find my current ride. But that's another story for next time.

and plan to sell the 18' rim to change to stock one...
but now all plan cannot work...

some facts about E36 318i
1) it never come with OBC. So, don't expect any
2) M40 is a good engine. M43 is more refined. Both has it's own characteristic.
3) M42/M44 is rare in Malaysia.Most of them comes in 2-door. It's even more rare if you can find 318iS in 4 door. Most of them are imported. They can be either in manual or auto.
4) Buying a car takes time and patience. If it's not yours, it's not yours.
5) Finding a E36 now is not easy.
6) M43 comes in two variance. One without electric fan (means without digital aircon) and with electric fan (means WITH digital aircon).
7) M43 build quality is better to M40 (this is appearent in the interior)

maybe because its easy to afford and
less people wanted to sell them (enjoying driving them? )

i think what elwine meant is its hard to find a mint condition E36 with a low price,there r alot of mint condition E36 around but the owners r only willing to sell them provided he can get a good price.There r alot at the used car but i wont even want to have a second look,so run down n neglected..all in bad shape

good things don't come cheap.
Also do note about M40/M43 engines
1) AFM - this is ex to replace and it does breaks down. It will cause idling issues
2) ICV - this is not ex to replace and it causes idling issues especially with your aircon
3) M43 - ignition coil. Just check on this.
4) Run MODIC to check on sensors or any faulty sensors. Do a reset then do a drive.
5) check suspension. E36 suspension is not so complicated. So, look at the abs mounting, abs cover, abs itself.
6) Check water leaks from radiator or hoses
7) check power steering rack (if it's leaking) or power steering hoses
8) open up engine oil cover to see condition of engine
9) check dipstick to see the oil. If it's black and thick, it's a sign of abuse and owner didn't change oil frequently
10) open up radiator
11) let car idle for 15 mins to see if overheats. See where is the position of the temp.
12) check on radiator hoses if they are soft or not
13) if it's M43 with electric fan. Run the car and see if the electric fan goes from speed 1 to speed 2. Listen if there are any noise
14) see if aircon is cold.
15) check for belt condition
16) if it's M40, when aircon is on, see if the front fan is working or not.
17) check if tools in the rear is complete
18) leather seats condition. Check on roof lining and also A,B and C pillars.
19) check on front windscreen condition for cracks or etc.
20) check highlight condition
21) check on tire condition
Hmmmm... this should be PART of the checklist when you see the car
For me, bodywork is ok. Important parts is body (rust or accident b4), engine and interior.
Also do note about M40/M43 engines

you should had hurried yourself .....catch a CAB and go straight ...SIMPLE ..
well i even gave deposit and forget to check what's the term written in the receipt and well from here it's history ....the car was sold slightly higher price than what was confirmed to me ....how to react much when it did not state the term in the deposit receipt ....it only stated the sum amout only ....but without any terms ....
well it just happen ....FARK YOU SALES MAN ..... make sure you will end up in hell ...it was a used car dealer in CHERAS ...

and i told the dealer , i would like to pay deposit first to book it
i said i can pay maybe 300+ (1% of the price) or maybe 500
but he said need 1000
now i dono if this is safe?
anyone have experience can share with me please?
(i have no experience buying used car)

dear sam,
deposit means, if you ffk, the money is his. But if he ffk, the money is back to you. make sure you write that down. Also if you screwed up in your loan, the deposit goes to him. unless you can nego on this. put everything in black and white to confirm.
1k is normal rather than 1% of the price.But this depends on your nego power.

Today first time i share my story with my gf
At first i wanted to get the car first, than give her a supprise that her boy drive an E36
but since she always ask me what car i wan to find...
so i share with her my journey
well the thing i very happy to hear is...
she think E36 is the best looking car
and support me..
and i told her, not only the car looks great
it is engineered very well also.
so now i continue searching ..
hope can find one soon
and we will repaint the car to the favourite color of me and my gf : White.
