understand how you feel bro... if I come across an E36 with M43 engine + the goodies (in white) I will give you a beep. A good condition E36 is hard to find therefore you may have to up your budget a little.

my bad luck
there are few 318 manual for sale
1. Blue 318 manual with m-tech bodykit
sold by a car dealer : sold

2. Maroon 318 with a lot of goodies
sold by venomh from this forum : booked and taken.


3. one nice silver 318 manual
the owner name is Hazizi

i suppose to go to KL to view that car last weekend
but due to no ticket to go down,
i postpone to this week.

i talk to the owner , he is kind enough to wait for me
and he said he will remove his online ad to wait for me.

so monday i go to buy ticket for this weekend
already confirm to go down this weekend.
than... today...

the guy call me.. said the car already sold.

is really not gentleman at all.
first said can wait for me
now when i confirm to go there already,
he sell the car..

now i feel really bad
how can be like this
at first i already thinking to take the car already
now... turn out to be like this

i feel frustrated, mad, lost
it shows character of no class at all
already promise to wait for me
now sell the thing...
and its just 2 more days before i get to view the car
how can someone who drive a bmw be such no class at all.....

Relax bro.,i believe that not all cars are for us..like love also..is like u got to wait for ur destiny..maybe the car is not for u..u deserve somethin better that will come ahead..maybe a 318is..the that is way much better than the 318..trust me..i been driving that for 4 years already..

hi all,
this is one nice Black 318 i saw at KL
so i take train down KL to view it.. 8 hours train
than reach there.. the dealer seems very nice (the salesman and the boss)

when i arrive at the dealer's place, they already move the car out and wash it already
the car looks nice

than we took it for a drive, the car drive well
BMW engineering never stop to amaze me... after so long time.. they still can done so well.

at first i thinking sending it straight to the mechanic to check
but than i feel ... maybe later because afternoon i going to view another car.

but then, wasted my trip, in the afternoon, the other car owner cannot make it.



anyway...

i thinking to take the car.. but have some doubt... so now i still thinking.
Need your all opinion...

1. color is black, being re-spray before (paint seems new), dono is it wan to cover up something
maybe got some accident so re-spray before selling?

2. Engine being changed before, now is M43, dono original is what (cannot judge by the previous engine number.. anyone can teach me?) approved by JPJ. but i dono why is being change.. maybe its being abused until end of life? or is it end up at head on collision before?

3. the owner modify audio before... front got speaker on the door panel.. (totally ruin the thing.. passenger door panel got ppl use screw to tighten it up.. ).. rear got heavy subwoofer .. and some minor damage on the dashboard

4. the dealer said is leather seat.. but when i go there to see, its PVC seat cover only...
and dono how the original seat underneath it looks...

5. the rough surface on the side skirt.. i thought is putty/bitumen... now only i know is original one...
i thought got some repair down there before


so i dono.. i should take the car or not
it looks nice... it drives well
but i got some doubt..

1. Take to any mechanic for a quick check. A good mechcanic can tell wheather it is a accident car or not. carry out afull inspection to have an idea how much you need to spend to bring back the car to acceptable condition.

2. As far as I know there is no model with a manual transmition for a M43 engine.

3. Originally there is already speakers on the door panel.

4. To open the PVC and check. Ask your mechanic to check.

5. ROugh surface is original.

Sam, why dont you just look around in penang for a well kept E36.Pg cars generally have lower mileage. You can ask Chu Seng to look out for you.

If you are looking for a 318, I have a friend who has a 98 or 99 318i E36 which is in pretty good condition.

I believe he is thinking of upgrading, so if you are interested, pls PM me for his number.

Glad to see that things are moving for you . Actually I kinda agree with anxious. For the weekend drive, a manual would be a dream to drive. But on a daily basis in Penang, it'll be like, 1st gear, 2nd gear, (maybe) 3rd gear, brake, stop. Repeat x10 to move 500m.

Ok I'm exagerating but not by much. I use to drive a manual car in Penang and that was only a 1.3l car. Actually auto is not that bad! I love the sports mode. It makes a lot of difference.

(and the clutch pedal is super hard.. dono if its becasue the car is old)

I can find one E36 which is post 1996 with a lot of goodies.. like electric fan, digital climate control, etc with good condition.... than save money to convert manual gearbox

OR

i can find one e36 which is pre 1995, with very cheap price, comes with M40 ( i dun think the engine have any problem.. many E30 now still running nice with M40)
than.. get for very cheap price, got extra cash
can convert manual gearbox, can re-paint the car to my favourite color, can do up the interior.. and many more....

Last friday , i took one day leave
just to go KL again
but time is very rush.. cannot get ticket.. so manage to be in KL for few hours only.


Well i think is time to end the journey.
I have paid the deposit for the car.
I will go down again, do a final checkup with 3rd party mechanic
(in case the body is in bad shape, i loose the deposit, better than no check at all and loose a lot more)

the car pretty good condition
sold by the owner
and have a bid mod.. but all is good.


will going there withing this 2 weeks to do final check before buying .

m planning for my next project myself, maybe a manual e36 318/320.
and later convert to 325 engine using back the manual tranny.
but dunno how true can the tranny be used w/ the 325 engine.
