some more side story...
today after movie... fetch my gf home
so we go down the multistory carpark
than when reach below
suddently the car behave strangely
the gear.. cannot go in... 1st cannot go... 2nd cannot go... reverse cannot go
i m so embarassed, many car behind me..
luckily the security guard help me to push the car to a side...
luckily behind me the car is patient enough ..... polite chap behind, salute
(normal ppl will start honking and flashing the light)

than the car works properly after few minute..
very strange.

Mine behaves like that too. Sometimes it is very difficult to disengage and engage the gear. The car will still go when it is in gear, the clutch pedal is depressed and I give it some throttle. My mechanic said it is some minor adjustment of the clutch so no big deal.

Happened to me twice, but once it happens, try to put the gear to neutral, tap on the clutch 2 to 3 times, it should be fine. That's the same explaination my mech gave too. Cheers!

Thats the cause of the cluch pump.. have the secondary pump checked and service. It happened to my friend's E34 once before. Its somewhere around this forum.

Well, i know exactly what sound is it when turning up the multistory parking. I use to use 215/45 tires and there weren't any sounds at all until i changed it to 225/45. Once you change the absorbers, your rides height should be SLIGHTLY better and therefore the tires wont hit the fenders anymore. If not, change the tires to 215/45, the sound will be gone instantly. as for the springs, why do you need to change it since it's already eibach? You're planning to change it back to ori so it's higher? Well, i guess it's personal preference but i guess higher rides = not so nice. hehe.

keep the eibach spring.. you really dont want the cat to sleep there when you park the car.

A figurative of speech... what jarance meant was about 2 fingers space between tyre and fender... so that no cats can sleep inside the fender... actually more for the "slammed down" look which so many wants to achieve....

er.. what is sleeping u mean?

oic... :)
sleeper car. :D

for now... left hand side, is 2 finger between the fender and wheel
and right hand side.. the front n back wheel are actually inside the fender...

Hi Sam,

Nice meeting you on Saturday. Thanks for your compliment but there's still a lot I have to do with the car before it's presentable ;)

Anyway, I think you ride is very nice and for the price you got it for, it's a good deal. But I think that you are a person who wants your bimmer to be in UDM condition and that comes at a price. For most of the guys here, it's a price worth paying and having NEVER been car crazy before, I have learnt to agree.

I think it's reasonable that you have to spend another 5-7k on the car before it's in a condition that you are happy with. I felt the same way like you in the early days, just spend so much, now have to spend some more. But over time, the sheer driving pleasure will come and then you'll wonder how you ever lived without it. Hahaha.

Which part of you undercarriage is scrapped ? Is it the exhaust? If it is you can get someone to bolt a piece of iron to it.

Lol, good thing it's manual too, I have to spend another God knowns how many $$$ to rebuild/overhaul my gearbox.

Let's meet again sometime, and I can intro you to some BMW mechanics in Penang.

Aha, means i'm not too fat afterall. Lol

Btw, does tat only apply only when the engine is stil cold? Once you start the engine, and drive immediately, your gears tend to be harder to engage. Usually if i want to have perfect driving experience, i'll leave it running for awhile before going out, then the gears are as smooth as... ermm.. smooth la.. Lol.

As for the light, yeaps. The last time when i changed da angel eyes ring, i didn't glue it properly and therefore water does penetrate. Try going to a workshop that you know of, remove the light slowly, and apply silicone, tat will definitely help.

Cheers!

oic..
i will remove it and apply glue myself...

i read the E36 user manual (not the repair manual)
it say, should drive the car immediately right after start the engine
do not let the engine running and car not moving when first start the car..

venon,it's been awhile u never update how's ur life over there...forgot us already?post some pic la

Is it? Er, i never opened that user manual actually. Lol. Based on what i experience, it's always better to keep it running. Once the engine is warmed up, you'll feel a huge difference. Jus give it a try once. Give it like a 5 minutes warm up. You will feel the difference instantly.
